The accommodations were perfect for our family. Unit 714 was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The beds were very nice with good quality linens. The 3 bedrooms with 3 1/2 bathrooms made it very easy to manage with a big family. The kitchen was fully stocked with good quality dishes and utensils. Their was a killer view of the mountains and the beach from almost every room. The back deck was great for relaxing. The fire ring out back was so nice for having a fire on the beach to roast marshmallows. It was a very short walk to the shops on the spit. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It exceeded my expectations and was a perfect stay.

My room was more then exceptional. There was a small hiccup with my room. Arlene was more then accommodating making things right and made our experience a pleasant joyful one.

Stayed 2 nights. Room was clean, comfy and well-stocked with towels & amenities. Arlene & Randy, the managers, were prompt, pleasant and efficient in meeting our needs. The waterside view is splendid and you can walk right onto the "beach". All the restaurants, shops and tourist activities are within walking distance. A very nice place to stay.

Arlene was friendly & helpful.
Very responsive to insure our visit was all that we expected.
Lovely location, we were fortunate to see whales from the unit, which was very unexpected for this time of year. Stunning sunrises. Always nice to be at a nice locacation on Katchemak Bay.

Had to change dates and Randy was very accommodating. We ended up arriving later than planned but Arlene had called to check on our arrival time. She gave me all the details for entry, parking, etc and texted it to me. Everything went perfectly. We were on the lower floor and it was wonderful to be able to walk right out to the beach. The views were beautiful, as was everything in the room. Loved the touch of having popcorn. Beds were very comfortable.

My friends and I split a rental at Otter Beach Lodges and were not disappointed. The rooms were lovely and the scenery from our room were unbeatable with any other possible lodging option. We were so close to the water we were able to watch sea otters playing in the ocean from our bed. It was incredible.

Randy was one of the managers for this place and helped us out immensely before we got to Alaska and when we got to Homer he made sure everything was perfect for us , our room was 615 bottom floor and what a beautiful view it had , the room had everything we needed sink microwave and small refrigerator ,and a patio outside the glass sliding doors leading to the beach which was 50 feet away, wonderful stay

First the positives. You will be hard pressed to get a better view of Katchamak Bay. We were in Unit 702 and the views of bay/mountains were breathtakingly gorgeous. The unit was large/spacious and had 3 chairs (should have been more given the size of unit) on an outdoor deck.
On the negative side, it was very hot in Homer during our stay and the unit does not have AC, so the unit was hot/stuffy during most of our stay, with temps Inside in the 76-80 degree range.
OBL management advised us to open all the windows (we did) and to use the one portable fan (seemed like one fan for a 3 floor unit was not enough). When we asked for more fans, we were informed that all fans were in use in other units.
Additionally, the one portable fan that was provided was filthy and covered in dust. It clearly had not been cleaned in months. The ceiling fans in both bedrooms contained a thick, disgusting line of dirt/dust on every blade, forcing us to clean them to make them usable. This level of dirt and dust obviously raises questions about the housekeeping services in the rest of the unit.
On the last day of our stay when temps dropped back in the 50s, OBL management called to let us know they had extra fans they could bring to the unit (when they were no longer needed).
At $675/night, guests shouldn’t be forced to perform housekeeping services to make the unit clean and 1 portable fan for a 3 story unit is inadequate. Our interactions with OBL management were not productive.
But the view was amazing!

Dear Sir, After much thought concerning your review of your recent stay at Otter Beach Lodges, here is our response. In Alaska our properties are built to retain the heat due to the usual cool temperatures we are accustomed to. As you experienced, along with us,clearly our normal is changing. You noted we do not have air conditioning which is truth. The temperatures here took us all by surprise stetting an all time record high of 80 degree in Homers History. Our stores actually sold out of fans due to the high demand. Along with other guests, you had the bad fortune of visiting during this time. Our distribution of fans and help went well beyond you in efforts to comfort all. Assisting other guests successfully, with the same suggestions offered to you, by using ceiling fans, floor fan and open windows significantly brought the temperature down making it reasonable and comfortable for the remainder of their stay. Despite 4 ceiling fans, one floor fan, the offer to provide an additional fan as they came available and the suggestion of opening windows to use the fresh air to circulate throughout your condo clearly was not adequate for you. As humans we will all fall short of perfection. Of note, at the time you called we were in another unit where guests followed the above suggestions lowering their temperature to 72. The common denominator here, It Was Hot. Everyone was affected, travelers, guests, locals, animals, our forests were burning, just now under control. All were in the same situation as you but with generous understanding making the best of their situation and time. We all have choice. The fact you continued your stay after claims of discomfort, our response to your needs with suggestions of same above, is a clear indication something did work for you. Being hot was not ideal nor was it our doing. We stand behind our lodgings and team as being clean, comfortable, properly priced and provide the excellent service our guests expect and deserve. It is unfortunate you felt otherwise wanting only compensation at the end of your stay. We are pleased to know you did appreciate the lovely views. Sincerely, Otter Beach Management 907-235-1866

We rented one of these condos after a cruise. Nothing could have been more relaxing for a winding down period after our cruise. The kitchen was minimally stocked, but did have everything needed for our short stay. They were quick to answer our needs and very pleasant. Although not fancy, it was clean and comfortable. Wifi provided along with DirecTV. A driveway for parking your car was also a plus. The area is the main draw, located at the end of Homer Spit Road. So peaceful watching the fishing boats going in and out for a day of fishing, the otters swimming around and the view, oh yes, the view! You have a private back porch furnished with a couch, two chairs and a coffee table. Perfect for watching the world pass by with a glass of wine or cup of coffee. There is a Safeway nearby and a great restaurant within walking distance. I highly recommend Otter Beach Lodges for relaxing in Homer, Alaska.
