1. Hike Grace Ridge (12 challenging miles and 3800 feet of vertical change). Dan and his dog, Griz were our lead guides and Captain Coree (because she wanted to check it out) brought up the rear. The change of terrain and weather through the day were insane (sweating, freezing, sledding, bounding barefoot through moss and the views!!!!) Do the point to point hike. It's tough on the way up but not as hard on the knees on the way down. I was really glad to have poles. Younger crowd did fine without them.
2. Remote bear viewing with Eric and Spencer. Floatplane took us to Moraine River about an hour inland where the salmon were running and the bears were abundant. We spotted the bears from the air then landed in a pond and hiked over to the river. We followed the bears up and down the bank and crossed the river for a closer look. It was amazing. Spencer is a photographer so the photos are insane. (Note: return to the lodge after excursions there is no better place to relax and happy hour and you will be ready for the Stillpoint vibe.)
3. Will, guide and JT, Stillpoint owner took us e-biking and to lunch in a cool little town, Seldovia. I'm glad we did this because it was fun spending time with Will and JT and some locals. But it was more normal... Normal to the extent anything in Alaska is normal. Still way fun! JT suggested night fishing after dinner. I didn't go but those who did loved it and the photos and fish (wow!)
4. Guys went deep sea fishing and caught a ton (loved it). Ladies hung at the lodge for nature hike, kayaks, glass beach, cooking class, massages, etc. An amazing day.
5. Hike and glacier lake with Will and Dan. We hiked to a lake (6 miles round trip) that was full of glaciers. Stillpoint had inflatable kayaks hidden for us. We paddled among the glaciers, built a fire, made smores on the beach and one of our knuckleheads took a cold plunge. Yikes! After hiking down from the lake the big Stillpoint boat captained by JT picked us up on the beach. On board he had 2 wetsuits and a wakeboard. The crazies among us spent the next hour wakeboarding in the bay surrounded by glaciers, otters and mountains. Beyond crazy fun! Thank you JT, Zack and Dan.
6. Stillpoint is far from the main Salmon runs but Chef Matt knew of a small run we could get to. Matt and Carlos (the other chef) guided us on a river fly fishing hike in waders that was a totally different kind of experience and very cool.
With Stillpoint as our home base we were able to touch and feel a wide variety of unique Alaskan activites. We had so much fun with the the Stillpoint staff and enjoyed meeting other guests. We played cornhole and threw axes and sat around the fire at night. Days are long (20 hours) and we were busy. As I share with you from back home in Texas I am exhilarated and bone weary. If Alaska is on your bucket list. Thank you Stillpoint!

All of the staff are nice folks who do good work keeping this place running. The meals were great, with each dinner being four courses of too much food. They even try to give you a large charcuterie board before dinner in case you need a fifth course.
Each activity was a lot of fun and well run with flexibility for your own preferences and abilities. Of course, the bear viewing is a must do.
Although remote, this lodge lacks for nothing. Delicious food, well- appointed cabins (robes, water, tea) and a location like no other are just the beginning the experience.
The staff goes above and beyond, from knowing our names upon arrival, having our sizes ready for gear in the gear cave to sharing their personal stories …the staff really made our trip. We went on a hike to a glacial lake where we kayaked, went bear watching at Crescent Lake, went halibut fishing and for a fat tire bike ride. The most unexpected, and unplanned experience, was watching orca in the lodge’s small boat between Homer and Halibut Cove for over two hours. Our guide was just as excited as we were. Orcas were spotted while we were eating our breakfast so we scrapped kayaking to see whales. Love how the staff is flexible and really helped make the most of our stay.
I would recommend telling Beka, the GM, what you activities you wsnt to do when you book. Tours in Alaska book up well in advance and weather is unpredictable. She planned everything for us, including our float plane trip to Stillpoint.
As I am high-risk, I am genuinely appreciative of the Covid protocols. I felt safe.
This was truly the trip of a lifetime! Thanks, Beka and crew!

We hiked up a waterfall, explored the coast of Halibut Cove from the boat, went to a beach to collect sea-glass, saw about 50 starfish in the tide pools along the beach and a black bear all on the first day. The second day we went on a first class fishing charter and slayed the halibut, saw whales up close and another black bear on the beach. Bald Eagles are everywhere and seeing sea otters and seals playing in Halibut Cove is common as well. The last day we had a massage, relaxed, and reflected on life, adventures we had just had, and the beauty of Alaska. Each evening after dinner, we decided to meet up with friends and gather around the fire pit, some to make s’mores and others to have a glass of wine. Every second of our 3 day visit to Stillpoint was completely enjoyable. Whether your looking for a special place to share time with family or friends, bring the kids, or a romantic weekend away, Stillpoint caters to everyone. It absolutely did not disappoint!

After enjoying a 4 star lunch (the first of many incredible meals) we were taken to our cabin. The view was amazing and so peaceful. Throughout our stay we would see otters, eagles and even a bear across the cove. The bed was so comfortable and we felt like we were in our own little slice of paradise.
We kayaked and sea cycled around the cove, relaxed with early morning yoga, hiked on the Native Trail, flew in a seaplane (for the first time), went bear watching on Crescent Lake, hiking and glacier kayaking on Grewingk Lake (it was exhilarating), relaxed with amazing massages, shared our daily exploits at Happy Hour and ate way too much amazing food (this was definitely world class dining).
The staff at Stillpoint were the friendliest, hardest working, multi talented, knowledgeable, accommodating and fun group we have ever encountered. You really feel like you're part of a family. Thanks to all of you for helping us to escape the worries of the day and find a place to relax and enjoy life.
