We were excited to have dinner here, it was recommended. We were so disappointed. The water was room temperature, no ice. The dinner was on the scale of an Arthur Treachers'. We really wanted an up-scale dinner, but it wasn't there.

A nice hotel well located in Haines. We enjoyed two good dinners here, and found our corner room to be large and comfortable. Not all rooms are large, as our friends in an adjacent room found out. Good bar and nice lobby. We have come to expect WiFi reception in hotel rooms; an element that is missing at this hotel.

Musty but clean. This hotel is situated on the side of the parade grounds in old Ft. Seward. It is convenient for walking to restaurants and town and provides good views morning and evening. We had a corner room overlooking the bay which meant we were able to open our windows for a nice evening breeze. The bed was firm... More

Friendly, comfortable hotel. If you don't care about modern it's terrific. Beautiful views, nice setting, spacious room. The only not so good aspect was that breakfast didn't really exist. And wifi was limited to the lobby.

This is an old-fashioned hotel that is very clean, and the staff is very friendly. Gina picked us up from the Alaska ferry at 2:30 a.m. and was so pleasant. Everyone worked with us to make us feel at home. The room are not fancy; just clean and very comfortable. A great value in Haines. Had homemade sweet breads and... More

Went for supper. They had run out of a lot of food. Drinks were great. Service was very good.it was busy . The food was good once we got it. Be careful driving in the lot lots of deep holes.Needs some TLC.

We planned to sleep one night in the hotel but we finally decided to cancel our reservation. They did it without any problem and were such nice people to us. Even though we haven't slept in the hotel, its exterior is wonderful and offers a great view on the ocean. I truly recommend you to go there

On this trip I book rooms with two beds though I am a single guest the rooms are often larger. This is one of the hotels that checked me into a room with one bed, I didn't say anything. The hotel is a seasonal summer residence and about 100 years old. There are no elevators so stairs are access to... More

This is a heritage hotel converted from officers's quarters in Fort Seward. However, while clean and comfortable, it needs serious sprucing up and a few service tweaks to improve guests' experience. First, the good stuff: pleasant service and spotless, though a little musty smelling rooms (it is very old, granted). Beds were very comfortable, but unadorned (i.e. Harvard frames, no... More

If you're easily winded, the Halsingland may not be for you - it has no elevator, and is situated on some hilly real estate - but if you're looking for a classic hotel in the style of the 1930s, look no further. From the claw-footed bathtubs to the richly textured bar, to the splendid views of southeast Alaska's Inside Passage... More
