We stayed here one night on the way up to Valdez. At $37 a night for an RV with water & electric, it wasn't bad. Trees could use some trimming back as my rig got scratched up pretty good backing in. I liked the firepits. My son caught a small grayling right from our spot on the creek. It was pretty quiet. I did not see a dumpster or poop dump station, but for the price I was fine with it. I would stay here again.

Other than the nice camp spaces on the creek, it has changed greatly since our 2015 visit. Where there used to be flowers and a welcoming, clean office, grass and weeds are over-grown - which isn't a big deal. However, the showers are gross!!! The washers and dryers are dirty also. Everything needs a very thorough cleaning. I realize that you shouldn't expect much while camping, but if these amenities are offered to the patrons, they should be clean and maintained.

Tolsona Wilderness Campground is by far our favorite campground in Alaska. It is an easy and spectacular drive from Anchorage, is family friendly and the staff is great. If your looking for a parking lot style campground don’t come here. The sites are all on the creek with both water/electric hookup and tent sites. There is a good combo of open and wooded site areas to choose from. There is a short dirt road that appears to be freshly patched / leveled and the dive in was smooth. I’ve seen everything from tents to teardrops to 40’ motor homes. There are a couple of wooden bridges in the campground but they are sturdy and safe. I’ve seen negative reviews about the bathrooms. I can say I’ve never had a problem with the bathrooms or shower. They are not state of the art - but they are cleaned regularly and the staff will respond promptly if there is a concern.

Tolsona Wilderness could be the bomb, but it bombed. I stayed with my boyfriend and two of our friends on a 30 amp site, the electric was not 30 amp. Only one thing could be on at a time, not easy to do, don’t turn on the hot plate and make coffee. The water was brownish, but we had bottled water so that was okay. Campground is woodsy and we were on the creek, pretty. But we had to clean the site before we could use it, and branches scratched against the trailer as well. I don’t know how the big guys could get in here. The picnic table was is bad shape, but some sites didn’t have one. Wifi is only around the main office and the sewer dump is right there, you can guess about that. Campground is busy, some areas, were loud and there didn’t seem to be any restrictions to this. Kids and dogs all over the place. I checked out the bathrooms I don’t think cleaning is their thing. The place is rural so a lot of slack for the wifi, but I don’t think there is much maintenance going on, there are a couple of bridges that need work, I was nervous when we drove over them, Oh and why they say full hook up? Water, questionable electric and dump station. Woodsy, rural, pretty, but fell short on too many levels to get a lets go back again.

Thank you for your comments. We work very hard to keep our sites in great shape. I do wish you would have let us know about any issues, we quickly respond to any upkeep issues and we are currently cleaning the bathhouse and touch points every hour. The bathrooms and showers are kept very clean, again please just let us know if there is a problem and we will take care of it. We hope to see you again!

We love this campground. Its far enough off the highway that there is no highway noise. All of the campsites have waterfront. You can plug into electric with your RV so there's no generator noise. It was clean. The people were friendly. We were happy campers!
