Our group of 10 had a great experience at the Carriage House! The owners, Rachel and Jake, were very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about Girdwood and other nearby areas. They made some really great suggestions and we were able to plan our more efficiently with their help. A continental breakfast with a wide variety of items was provided and the kitchen was well stocked with basic pantry items, cookware, glassware, etc. the rooms were extremely clean and cozy and we had no problem sleeping very soundly. Some of us enjoyed the hot tub and others played the cor hole and Bocci games that were already there and there are also a few board games available. We also loved seeing the resident pets around the property. Overall, we were completely happy with our stay there.
We stayed at the Kobuk’s cabin and it was great. King size bed, nice windows view to the forest, comfortable & clean shower, kitchen, and parking. Walking distance to some shops and coffee/ restaurant. Short drive to the main area of dining and the Alyeska hotel.
We stayed in the Hayloft with our 2 teenage boys in July 2022 for 3 nights and had a great experience! Rachel was very welcoming and the loft was a great "home base" for our family of 4 for our Girdwood excursions. We packed a twin-sized air mattress for our Alaska trip as we knew we had several places with just 2 queen sized beds on our Alaska trip (as our two teenage boys need some space to sleep) and we were thankful to have the blow up mattress with us here. There was plenty of room to blow up our air mattress and it made for perfect accommodations for our family. We loved that the Hayloft had a full kitchen, so we visited the local grocery store to load up on breakfast items and snacks. Great location---just down the road from Crow Creek Mine, across the street from the Double Musky, and just a stone's throw to all sorts of adventure tours/trains!…
We had the Carriage House Suite for a group of 7 and it was perfect. Rachel and Jake made sure that we had everything we needed and were very courteous and responsive. And we all enjoyed our fur hosts, Stella and Lucy (dog/cat). This is a very comfortable and overall quiet place. You may hear people walking the outside stairs at times, but no big deal. Much more noise at hotels! The Carriage House is on beautiful property and you can tell that Jake and Rachel take great pride in their place and are very welcoming to guests and enjoy interacting with them. We would even let Lucy in periodically so the kids (and adults) could play with her. We will definitely stay here again when in this beautiful area of Alaska. Great home base for exploring. We went to Seward, Palmer and various areas that were all within easy reach.…
I didnt get the check in letter so figuring out how to get to the room was a little bumpy. Rachel , the host, was kind and responded quickly to anything we needed. We stayed in the wagon room snd carriage room . It was quite a surprise we were sharing the kitchen and table area and small living room with two other couples for the two nights we were there. It would have been better if we were expecting that. It is impossible to social distance. We used the same dishes that we each hand washed . The small living room needs to have the furniture updated. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfy. Items for continental breakfast included. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. The location is great for getting to hiking and prince william sound boat tour . Spoonline bistro in town had amazing food…
We had a pleasant stay at the Carriage House and Jake & Rachel were both very nice. The property location is good and right across the street from great Steak House. The accommodations were nice with some impressive Timber Framing elements in the Coach House. A couple of down sides: First, inadequate window shades on the windows and hard to sleep when it is light till midnight and first light at 4:00 am. Secondly, the second floor coach house unit sleeps two couples with one bedroom and a hide a bed in main great room. The hide a bed is an old style unit and TERRIBLY uncomfortable for two adults to sleep in and not what is to be expected when you pay for the unit by the number of people staying in the unit!
We loved our “Coach” room. The room was very clean, had a comfortable bed, well placed TV with Roku. The shared kitchen area was stocked with oatmeal, OJ, fruit, boiled eggs and coffee. The hot tub was available till 11pm and the location across from the Double Musky Inn made this place even more perfect. It was cozy, cute and just an all around REALLY GREAT AND AFFORDABLE PLACE!
We had a good time at the Kobuk Stall on our Alaska getaway. The cabin was spacious and had all the essentials. We got snowed in our second day and played cards and watched tv most of the night. It was easy to checkin and out by texting to notify. The keys were waiting for us when we arrived. We had a parking spot right by the cabin. The bed was comfy and spacious (we read the website wrong and were expecting a Queen so we were delighted at the king). The bathroom was ample size and even had shampoo, body wash, etc in the shower for us. Plenty of towels. Dishes in the kitchen along with spacious mini fridge and microwave. They had coffee but we can’t attest to that as we don’t drink it. Cute little table for 2 to eat. Futon wasn’t super comfortable but it did the trick for what we needed. The hot tub was available but it was cold so we didn’t venture outside to it. My warning would be that the room was listed as $125 a night and somehow we paid $450 for 2 nights. I know you face similar charges with air BnB or hotels as well but just a fair warning. Overall great stay and would recommend for other couples!!! Thanks for the good memories Kobuk stall!…
This place was awesome! Girdwood is a beautiful area and the property is pristine! Rachel was very helpful with recommendations for a hike, and was very responsive when we needed. The hot tub was great after a long day outside as well. Would definitely recommend and come back myself!
Our daughter's "destination wedding" was at Alyeska mountaintop with the reception/dance afterwards at Carriage House. We cannot say enough about the GREAT service, GORGEOUS property, DELICIOUS catering, and GRACE and CLASS of the owners, Rachel and Jake. We rented the entire facility for the wedding party and the bride/bridesmaids and their partners/husbands. All enjoyed the time together before and after the wedding day. I worked long distance with Rachel for almost a year before the grand event and that was a pleasure, as all her communications are clear, efficient and very professional while still accommodating requests as much as possible. The owners not only provide a lovely, comfortable venue, but you can clearly see how much they enjoy meeting people and acting as hosts! Highly recommend this B&B!…
