This self service inn has an attractive lobby. Our room was miniscule. We were given far less than a full roll of TP for a two-night stay....when it ran out, there was no spare! Since there was no staff on site, we phoned the manager. After 2 calls and 30 minutes, our call was returned at last. He was so sorry but there would be no staff to replace the toilet paper for another hour. In the meantime, we had fixed the malfunctioning toilet ourselves, as well as refilling the water and emptying the overflow tray in the lobby coffee machine (as "requested" by the machine). But then it needed more coffee beans. Again, the manager said someone would be there in one hour. So sorry. Toilet paper is a minimum requirement; coffee high on the list. Terrible service.
The ski inn is the real Alaskan experience. Set in the heart of downtown Girdwood it’s a powder hounds paradise. I stayed for 30 nights and really felt at home. Troy the manager is very hands on and runs the inn like it’s his home. The staff are genuine and the common space is a nice way to interact with fellow guests. The high end Jura coffee machine was a nice touch. Also note the ski inn is on the shuttle route so you don’t necessarily need a car. I’ve already booked a month in early 2023 so don’t hesitate book early!
We were there to snowboard at Alyeska, and originally booked it for that purpose, which was a good fit because it is so close, and also because since they have breakfast items always set up in the lobby, it made it super easy and fast to get something before hitting the lifts. They have a good selection of items and drinks. However we liked it so much, we just keep extending for mutiple nights as we found it to be a great base to go visit the Kenia Peninsula and the towns there. It is also close to Wittier and the Portage Glacier. The room was super comfortable with nice beds, linens and towels, but more than that it has such a nice feel that you don't find at most hotels. Very laid back and relaxed with a comfortable sitting area in the lobby to enjoy reading, having a snack from the complimentary items there, or just visiting with other guest. Another thing that is unusual but nice is that one is given a code to the front door and to your room. So there is no need to check in or worry about getting a key. Lastly a lot of the restaurants in Girdwood are really close by and there is a grocery store just two buildings over. Our time there was just what we wanted and we will come back for sure.…
Excellent last minute stop. Staff super friendly and helpful and room was cozy. Easy to park. Close to restaurants. Priced right. A bit chilly in the room but plenty of extra blankets so I slept really well.
That a very nice surprise, our room was ready, very well equipped, comfortable bed and have great options for storage our stuff. The surprise was finding a little items for breakfast in the morning at the dining area, great way to welcome the guest Love the no shoes police even thought not all the guest respected
Everything was very clean, new and cute. We were not sure about arrival time, but had a good communication with the host prior to the arrival and felt comfortable. We ended up arriving before their closing. Very friendly woman gave us a lot of local information that was helpful and instructions for the security system. We took the last room available last minute as rooms in the area were getting booked up. We knew it was small and shared bathroom. OK, just one night....but boy the room was very tiny. NYC small. We shared the second floor with other three or so parties. Somehow, our neighbors were all so quiet and no problem with sharing bathroom either. I hear that the rooms downstairs are bigger and very nice. Breakfast was OK. Not too great but something to eat. So all in all, it was OK stay. I felt that it was overpriced, but demand and supply works here too....free parking and the convenient location were plus.…
I booked this as a stopping place for the night as I knew it would be to late to be driving through to Soldotna and have always enjoyed Girdwood. It gets a three for a few reasons. I stayed in the Sky View room. It is extremely small. It’s very clean and is decorated nicely but there really isn’t much space to move around in. The outside window is also right at the car park. It’s one of those properties that has a sort of basement room and so your window is literally at tire level with the cars. Thankfully it seemed that there was only one other couple staying there and there wasn’t much traffic but I imagine that would be fairly annoying in peak months. It’s next to what I can only assume was the laundry room as well as I heard what sounded like a dryer going for a while. My biggest complaint is the shower. At first it looks like it is going to be glorious because it is one of those waterfall shower heads but you quickly realize that the space they’ve put around it is not adequate for the size of the shower head at all. You absolutely cannot get away from the water. And it’s not like it’s a small trickle, this is a full on deluge! Ladies, if you don’t want to get your hair wet, that is to bad because by the time you get done, the entire place is wet. I finally gave up and turned everything off. Not the relaxing end to a long day I was wanting! Also, they advertise a breakfast but I’m not sure how they would ever be able to think of doing that as the place is only staffed from 4-9 pm per the sign on the desk. This was one of the reasons I booked this place because I wanted to get an early start and not stop anywhere for a while. I realize that this could be because of covid but there was no warning before hand or discount for not getting a service that was advertised on their website. There was tea and coffee out but not lids for the to-go cups. In the end it was comfortable enough but way to overpriced for what you get.…
I stayed here for one night and it was such a great place. Very clean and comfortable. My room had a bathroom down the hall but it was very clean. Included breakfast. Highly recommend this as an affordable option in Girdwood.
Stayed one night, while getting my son organized to leave Alaska. No prior reservation, but lucked into single room. Staff was very responsive, good quick breakfast food. I didn’t like credit card surcharge (come with cash!? - no Banks within 30+miles - off brand ATMs). Really is nicest place in town outside overstuffed Alyeska “Resort”.
Stayed for one night and absolutely loved it. The reviews were spot on! It was super clean and very comfortable. We loved the breakfast in the morning and the woman that checked us in was very friendly. It was only her first or second night on her own, but she made certain to cover all the required information with us. We would definitely stay again.
