Steve and Wendy Ranney were excellent hosts. If you’re going on an adventure check to see what their employee Anna is leading…if you can physically go on her trip(s) GO! ANNA IS WONDERFUL, friendly, knowledgeable and just fun. Chef was very accommodating and tried meeting each guests needs. Wendy’s coffee shop “The Whale’s Tale” is a wonderful hangout; we met really nice peopke, had delicious turmeric-coconut iced tea, peppermint frappe’s and cappuccinos. Several on-site activities are available as in fishing, hiking, kayaking, and helicopter to a glacier (I don’t recommend the helicopter unless the morning weather is clear).

We loved every minute of our stay! The rooms are simple, but very clean. The food was excellent. Our fishing trips on the bay, river, and Gulf were an amazing experience! We cannot wait to return! Thank you Steve and the rest of the crew!!

Orca Adventure Lodge was AWESOME!!!! My husband and I stayed there for 3 nights and did the package deal with two different fishing charters. We went on 1 freshwater and 1 saltwater charter. The capitans/charter guides were very knowledgeable and fun! We had great fishing days! We caught Halibut, Sea Bass, Yelloweye Rockfish, Cod, Lingcod, Quillback, Dolly Varden, Pink, Silver, and Chum Salmon! My husband and I live in FL and we are getting our fish shipped to us. Wendy (one of the owners) was very professional with explaining the entire shipping process and ensuring the safety of our fish. The package also included all meals! THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. The meals were all freshly cooked and prepared by trained chefs. I was so full and happy the entire time. The meals included was a huge bonus because of the cost of food in cordova is expensive due to the remoteness of the town. Totally worth it. The lodge has clean rooms, great decor and even their own coffee shop! You can see sea otters swimming in the sound right from your room too! The entire staff at the lodge was wonderful because everyone was so involved with helping out and seemed that they enjoyed being there. Steve and Wendy the owners really make you feel like family and my husband and I will be going back, hopefully with our own family!

I confirmed via email that our trip we scheduled months ago was still good to go. Received confirmation that they were holding the dates and to send arrival schedule. I booked the flights, sent confirmation and asked for additional days due to flights. Never heard back from them via email. I left a message via phone, no response. My husband left a message, no response. Called the friend who referred, gave us a guys name, husband left a message, response. "Sorry, couldn't get this year together all trips were canceled". This was a week before we were due to fly out. My only saving grace is I could get credit on my flights for future travels........ We won't be going here or recommend.

Response from Wendy Ranney, Owner at Orca Adventure Lodge

We are so sorry that this happened to you. We are currently running trips and have not cancelled any reservations...There are only two people that respond to phone calls and neither of them spoke with you. Also, our cell phone numbers are listed on our messages so that you can reach us directly if no one is in the office. We have been confused with other companies like Orca Bay Charters and Orca Bay Lodge, but we are Orca Adventure Lodge and take every reservation very seriously. Again, I am sorry that you experienced this disappointment, but you did NOT speak to us. Is it possible you got us confused with another outfit? We also list various ways to get in contact with us on our website.

The Orca Adventure Lodge created the best father/daughter fishing trip and a one of a kind experience. There were unexpected luxuries that allowed for not only adventure but also relaxation. Steve, Wendy, and his amazing team work hard to create an amazing fishing experience, wildlife sightings, delicious meals served daily, and comfortable rooms with views of the ocean. The only think I suggest is stay longer then you think because you will not be ready to leave.
