We just returned from 12 wonderful days in the Cook Islands. We had Villa 1 at Whitesands. It was a comfy home away from home. You are indeed right on the beach. The first couple of days, the water level was high, and waves splashed up fairly high, but after that, it returned to normal, giving you ample room to lay out on the loungers by the water. Snorkelling is excellent here. This was the best equipped rental we have stayed in. Quality pots and pans, a good variety of dishes, bowls, containers, utensils. What was lacking for us was a drip coffee maker, but then we found the coffee press, so were fine. There is a washer, and laundry sink. Plenty of outdoor space to hang wet items. The shower is excellent! Lots of towels are provided, and the place was cleaned, linens changed, once during our stay. The outdoor deck/eating space/lounge area was perfect for dining and enjoying the view. There are kayaks to use, some snorkel equipment, and reef shoes. There were complaints about the hard beds. Our villa was the first to get a mattress top, and more are on the way, so we were comfortable. Also, this villa gets the breeze in the bedroom to keep you cool at night. There is also a small safe in the closet. Bottled water is provided for drinking, which we learned isn’t available in every rental. Don left some fish for our first night, and some fruit. He arranged for airport pickup (our cost) and return. We opted against renting a car, and used the bus system. There aren’t restaurants close by. We did walk to Charlie’s, about 1/2 hour away, visited the Night Market in Muri, and other than a Progressive dinner, we ate in. There is a small convenience store about 7 minutes walk away. You have to purchase wifi. We bought a package, $25 NZD for 15 days, 1.5GB. We burned through that in 2 days, so figured out that not much internet searching, or even daily visits to games to get the daily bonus only or sending pics was not a good idea. The second package, used for checking messages, lasted us through the rest of the time.

We first visited Whitesands back in October 2017 just before our wedding. I can happily report that two years later, Don and May delivered for us a second time around!!! We absolutely love this place!!! The villas are well laid out, well maintained, fresh and clean and have everything you need. There's a couple of outside gas BBQs for cooking as well as a gas hob, kayaks for playing around in the lagoon, a collection of snorkelling gear, washing machine, plenty of beds etc. Don brought us some nice Tuna too which was greatly appreciated. The villas are right on the beach and far enough away from the road that you dont hear the traffic. There are dogs and roosters, but you get those anywhere on Raro. You are a short distance from the best snorkelling area on the Island (Fruits of Rarotonga), but it pays to swim out to the buoys where there are frames to rest on because thats where you'll see the most fish (and maybe Gary the moray eel)! Just a little further down the road is the Rumours Spa - nice for a massage and a little further from that is Muri beach. Definitely would recommend the sea scootering with turtles, but be very aware of the current. You need to be comfortable with flippers and snorkel - not for learners. In the evenings or when you're exhausted from all that touristy stuff, drill a hole in a coconut, stick in a straw, lay back and relax on the deck loungers and watch the clouds drift by. Meitaki

We absolutely loved our stay here. We had 2 villas and were constantly awestruck by the amazing location every time we walked out onto the balcony. The snorkelling is great right out the front and the kids spent all day between snorkelling and kayaking right out the front while we relaxed on the beach. Don was very helpful and the units are very well stocked with all the supplies you will ever need, even a first aid kit if you happen to cut yourself on the coral. Would highly recommend!!

I have just got back from spending time in Whitesands Beach Villas. While not new or fancy they are perfect. Clean and comfortable with everything you could need in the kitchen bare an oven. A beautiful big bowl of tropical fruit waited for us on the kitchen table but the best feature of all was the view from the deck!!!! With the Villas literally right on the shore we spent a lot of time in the water or watching family in the water. I'm no great swimmer but even I did some snorkeling. The tropical fish are stunning.I felt really safe staying on Rarotonga as there is little crime there and the locals we met were all friendly and seemed happy to meet us. If you get a chance go to the local church at Titikaveka. The singing is beautiful. I would definitely go back to stay here if I could.

Spacious and clean, with some fresh fish and fruit there waiting for you when we checked in. Don and May are great hosts and Don is a mad-keen fisherman who does not need a big excuse to get out on the water. Deep sea fishing is only 5 minutes out from the marina and you don't have to go very far at all. Titikaveka is a great location, away from the masses.
