Two years ago my husband and I were hiking in Bryce Canyon. We were coming up some switchbacks and started talking to a guy who was just ahead of us on the trail. We all stopped for a few minutes to wait for his slightly slower companion and got to talking - mostly about vacation spots. I mentioned our next destination was going to be Alaska but since it's such a large state, I was having a hard time pinning things down. He mentioned he had recently returned from a fishing trip there, and told us about the great time he'd had at a place called Drifter's Lodge in Cooper Landing. Fast forward two years and we've just returned from a magnificent stay at Drifter's. Loved everything about it. Great people - Evan, Allie, and Bob, to name a few of the regular faces we saw...and all of our guides were wonderful - all different and all great - Dan, Jack, Jason (and Wilson, a definite bonus!), Ben, and Kail. Each day of fishing was a new slate all of its own - from our flyout across Cook Inlet, to walk-in fishing at Quartz Creek, to floating the refuge/canyon in search of trout and dolly varden, to our two great combo days of limiting on silver salmon in the morning and seguing into catch and release trout in the afternoon. Breakfast and lunch were taken care of for us and dinners were easy with 4 restaurants within 2-3 miles. Can't beat the view from the cabins and the nightly fire, where good stories are told and good friends are made. We're already talking about a return trip.

The attentiveness and service from Bob, Evan, Allie and team was outstanding! Our cabin was organized, clean & cozy. Drifter’s Lodge is in a perfect location with fantastic views of the beautiful Kenai River. The rafting trip was perfect and the salmon fishing was an adventure! We highly recommend a stay Drifter’s Lodge!

We went out on a 2 hr trip with Tommy as our guide and had a great time. We had 17 year old -79 year old and it was enjoyed by all. Then we decided to go on a sockeye salmon fishing trip and had Kail as our guide. He was great also. We all got our limit and quickly. He cleaned our fish and was a very good guide. Will definitely be back to see these guys next year. Also the office staff was very nice and easy to work with us.

Tommy is such an enthusiastic and friendly rafting guide for all ages. He really knows the river and is very knowledgeable about the local area and very happy to hear that everyone enjoyed themselves. Then to go out with Kail on a sockeye trip and limit out makes for a very enjoyable time fishing. Thank you for your wonderful review and for mentioning our office staff as well. We look very forward to seeing you next year.

We looked at a handful of fishing lodges when planning our week-long trip to the Kenai Peninsula and were pleased with our decision to make Drifters Lodge our home base. Why we liked it: 1. Location. Though the fishing will be 30-40 minute drive away (either down the Kenai for salmon/trout or out to Seward or Whittier for salt charters)—you simply can’t beat wrapping up the day by grilling up your catch and sipping beers by the riverside fire pit. Other fishing lodges further downstream will be slightly closer to the fishing action (at least in July) but you will not get to spend hours staring off into the mountains like you can here. 2. Guides/Staff. We did 3 guided fishing charters with Drifters during our stay and they were all great. Lodge staff were all very friendly and helpful in getting us set up with hikes and activities outside of fishing. 3. Lodging. Not a ton of extra space, but has what you need. We all slept like rocks in the comfy beds and the water in the shower is HOT. Bonus points for the sauna and the convenient grab-n-go breakfast option that typically included one assortment of home-baked muffin or cinnamon roll. Just left yesterday and already looking forward to the day we can make it back (maybe next time for silvers and fat trout in September). Thanks Drifters for a memorable first trip to Alaska!

What a very thought out and wonderful review you have written about us. Let me answer this excellent review in the order that you wrote it. 1.) Very true about other lodges being closer to the fishing but as you so eloquently pointed out we have the nightly campfire and beautiful views of the river and surrounding mountains. 2.) We are very happy to hear that your three guided fishing trips with our professional guides went well for you. Our staff is very helpful and our always very excited for our clients because simply put they love their jobs and it shows. 3). Our lodging is sometimes a little to rustic but as you have stated our comfortable beds are very hard to beat. Water is certainly hot and our breakfast bar and sauna are little gems for our client's needs. We are very happy that we gave you wonderful memories to look back on and to remember all of us here at Drifters. We are also looking forward to your next trip with us.

We had a great experience rafting down Kenai River. They provide waterproof pants, boots, and life jackets for you to wear. Our guide Tommy was fantastic. He is very knowledgeable about the area and it’s history and even threw in a couple of jokes! It’s a family friendly experience. Our group of 4 had ages 22-81 and we all had a fun time. We got to see lots of animals and some amazing scenery! I would definitely go back there if I ever get the chance to go to Alaska again.
