We added a weekend adventure to Huahine after a weeklong stay in Moorea on the recommendation of 1000 Places to See Before You Die. The book said that it was an example of Polynesia before tourism came to the islands. Our expectations were that the island would be untouched by modern development and, for the most part, we were glad... More

The restaurant was "out of" Chardonnay, Bloody Mary mix, and sorbet, although the ferry to the main island went there often each day, and there was a great supermarket on the main island. The A/C in the over water bungalows was either over the bed or over the sofa. The ones over the sofa did not provide enough cooling for... More

We chose this hotel as part of our honeymoon trip. It is a perfect place for couples who want to enjoy being alone with nature, sea and sun. We booked an overwater bungalow and it is definitely worth the money!!! A must do at least one in a lifetime!

We absolutely loved this place. The transport to and from was super easy, and they were always on time. Even waited for us when we were late coming back from an excursion. Our overwater bungalow (#41) was the BEST... it was a great size with huge bathroom and a big deck (shade on one side and sun on the other...... More

As other reviewers have mentioned, this place is well off the beaten path. The grounds are meticulously maintained and quite beautiful. The buildings do have some aging going on, but to us it just added to the overall feeling of being away on an exotic island. Yes some of the furniture is worn but when you can look at the... More

I searched all over the Internet to find an overwater bungalow which wasnt going to kill us financially and the Royal Huahine looked like our best option. It was a great option for 2 nights and one we will remember forever. The rooms are great and the private deck with sun loungers and sea access amazing. We have since taken... More

My wife and myself have traveled to Hawaii many times and to the resorts on Malaysia (Pangkor Laut and Tanja Jora) and Australia (Lizard Isand an Orpheus). We love beach time and snorkeling. After these experiences prior to 2006 we came across the magazine ISLANDS an issue circa 2005 which had on its cover a heading which read something like... More

Isolated location is pretty, but it will cost you far more then price of hotel room. $18 per person for a 10 minute cab ride to the hotel boat. Only eating choice is the hotels restaurant which is expensive and not that good ($20 continental breakfast). No boat service to escape for lunch or dinner elsewhere unless you pay them... More

We stayed for three nights at the Royal Huahine. We splurged for the deep over the water bungalows and did not regret it. Be sure to ask for the “deep” overwater bungalows because there are three or four that are over the water right next to the shore. The rooms were quite large with a very large bathroom. In the... We went to the Royal Huahine (which some people there still refer to as, "Te Tiare Beach Resort") for our honeymoon. We originally booked a beach-front bungalow. After writing the staff for additional information, they found out we were coming for our honeymoon and upgraded us to the deep-water bungalow. How nice. I'll admit, the trip from the airport to...
