Nestled off the main thoroughfare lies the heavenly retreat of Te Fare Mihi. It is a place that leaves you longing for more. We were a group of 8. 6 ladies from Hawaii 1 local born lady and our fabulous friend from Papeete . We were met off our quick half hour gorgeous Ferrt ride from Papeete by the staff of Moorea Mahana Tours , an amazing activities company owned by the same proprietor of Te Fare Mihi, and shuttled off to our bungalow retreat. We passed through stunning crystal clear aqua blue water, coconut groves and a plethora of local homes on our way to this spectacular retreat . When we arrived our jaws dropped . This must be just like living in Paradise, and it is. Property: Lush colorful gardens decorate the pathway to each bungalow . Fresh banans , Logan fruit, Tiare Bush, mango trees , and hibiscus bushes welcome you with their sweet fruit and vibrant colors . Passing the 4 bungalows , you end up at a community lawn with huge dinner table under a tan thatched roof as you gaze at the calm still clear blue waters if Moorea. There are relaxing lawn chairs , a pier to jump off of and over the water lounge chairs off a plank that stairs deep into the horizon beyond . The coconut trees that off much shade and beauty caress the edges of the property adding to the vibe of our tranquility. Bungalows: There are four fabulous bungalows , with one of them beach front. Each bungalow is expertly designed with a comfortable out door patio and chairs, a quaint living space with a day bed , fully functional kitchen, 1 bedroom with queen sized bed , closet space , a safe and dresser drawers. The bathroom is large , airy and spacious. With lovely hot water and fantastic lighting to check out your tan . Sleep: It is so absolutely peaceful here and so very safe . The air conditioning in the bedroom easily cools the entire bungalow . We enjoyed fantastic breakfasts prepared by each of our bungalows every morning and we decorated our outdoor table and feasted as we watched the sun rise, and just stare in amazement at the beauty of the property and our surroundings . Dinners were our favorite as we ate, drank and sang the night away under the stars . Felicie, the owner of the property and company is an absolute gem. She is so kind, sweet and loving . She arranged through her company so many amazing days filled with fun. Please do yourself a favor and book all your activities through her. Go swim with the sharks and kiss the stingrays, or head off to one of her motus , kayak, surf, bike , or whatever your heart desires, she can make it happen. We've seen those over the water bungalows and while very pretty, it doesnt even come remotely close to how amazing and fabulous our stay was . We were absolutely heart broken to be leaving Te Fare Mihi, as it had become our paradise home . We made so many memories here. We laughed , cried, ate and slept like goddesses. I will never forget my time here and I hope to come back again. Maruru Felicie , Te Fare Mihi, and Moorea Mahana Tours …
This is the only place to stay on Moorea! If you want a truly authentic experience, where you can cook, relax, kayak, and live in true island style, this is the place to stay. The homes are clean, spacious and well equipped. The family who runs Te Fare Mihi are wonderful.
This is my third time staying here. I love this place and the family that runs it! I highly recommend it! It's beautiful and clean! I love the beach that is out front and it's in walking/biking distance of restaurants, gas station and grocery store! The family that runs it also does tours, so you are in luck if you want to find some adventure! Marissa
After having done the resort scene twice we decided to rent a bungalow like the locals! The place was clean, well appointed and had everything we needed. We lucked out and had the place to ourselves. Great view of the ocean and we made use of their kayaks to go to their motu. Do not hesitate to book this place if you want a rest from the touristy resort scene.
Just stayed at Te Fare Mihi with my husband last week. I wish we had stayed here instead of a hotel when our kids were younger! The rooms are extremely clean, and equipped with everything you need with a good size refrigerator and complete kitchen! The beachfront location and sunset views are perfect, and the hosts are very kind and accommodating. Make sure and arrange for the motu picnic. Te Fare Mihi and the whole Moorea experience is pure Polynesian bliss.
