We offer food, aircraft fuel, and lodging 365 days a year. We still harbor wayward pilots just like when we opened in 1951 as a Wien Alaska Airlines Lodge. We offer world class Aurora viewing (235 nights a year possible here/weather dependent) during the Fall and Winter season, National Park Collecting & Flight seeing, fishing charters, and camping / hiking drop off and pick up in the Gates of the Arctic & Kobuk Valley National Park flights with our full service Air Taxi operation based in Bettles. We have officially the best weather in Alaska, here at Bettles Field. Come see the REAL, Arctic, Bush, Alaska!

Great place to visit. Comfy, rustic, remote, friendly staff, great home cooked food. True Alaska in the wilderness at its best. Eric the owner is great and loved all great staff Connie, Katsu, Gigi, Shawn, Mary. Seeing the Aurora lights was a bonus and who can forget the dogs.

No detail is forgotten from the charter flight in to the charter flight out. We were met at the plane in spite of blowing snow and escorted to the lodge where hot drinks and freshly made cookies were waiting. Meals were delicious...prime rib, salmon...no cheap food here! No

We just got back from an amazing two night at the Bettles lodge. I really wish it was longer. First off when I booked I was told we were staying in The Aurora Lodge. Was slightly disappointed, as the historic inn looked so interesting. When we got there we were told that a

I was not quite sure if I would be able to handle the predicted -20 degree temps. I was pleasantly surprised that it was not a problem at all!. The entire staff is very interested in making sure that everyone is accommodated with whatever needs necessary to make their stay more

Our group of 17 took over the Aurora Lodge for 5 nights. Heather and Eric were extremely welcoming hosts. The whole experience fulfilled my expectations and then some. The food was excellent, and as Connie said: "If you go away hungry, it's your own fault." Not only was the

Hi Alex & Wanda, 40 lb per person weight limit on luggage as you will be traveling in a smaller airplane from Fairbanks to Bettles. Either a Cessna Grand Caravan or Piper Navajo Chieftain. I would be more than happy to give you all of our Winter, "Arctic Circle Tour Package" information if you would email me from the link in our website. Eric :)

HI Zoidberg69, If you could tell me where (and when) you've heard this, I will be happy to contact your source directly and set them straight. My Wife Heather and I took over about 3 1/2 years ago and have happily accepted all races and religions into our home (Bettles Lodge). I'm very disappointed that you've heard a absolutely untrue rumor such as this. Please remember to check the dates on the reviews you read. Heather and I have owned the Lodge since July 1st 2014. You may call me at the Lodge, 7 days a week to discuss any questions or issues you might have with me directly, if you like. We hope to see you in our Arctic paradise soon! Warm Regards from the Arctic! Eric L Fox

We were at Bettles Lodge in December--we went specifically to see the Northern Lights. It was cold (-20 to -30 degrees) and snowy. Eric and Heather are awesome. Eric gave us a tour of Bettles--took about an hour and it was very interesting. We hiked around the frozen area. We went to the Gates of the Arctic Visitor Center--right across from Bettles Lodge. That was VERY interesting. I would suggest later if you want to see the Northern Lights. Our main purpose of being there in December was to see the Northern Lights. So, because we were up for most of the night, we took it easy in the day. There is no guarantee, but the darker the better. Bettles is a small town--about 13 people live there. You are out in the "bush". Check on any side trips you are thinking about from Bettles--make sure they are still doing the trips in September. Bettles is a fly in town--that is the only way you can get in and out. Chat with Eric he will guide you in the right direction.

We stayed in the Aurora Lodge (on the property of Bettles lodge and part of the same complex) and in our room there was a jacuzzi, soap, plenty pf towels, robes, slippers, shampoo, cream rinse, hairdryer. The Aurora Lodge has its own living room complete with TV and videos to watch, coffee, puzzles and games. Its a short walk to Bettles Lodge where meals and cocktails are served. We really enjoyed our stay.
