Had the opportunity to stay at the Castillo while on business then hung around the city for a few days. I have stayed in a number on hotels in San Jose but I think the Castillo is my favorite. Very friendly and attentive staff who make all efforts to provide a pleasant stay - Very reasonable pricing, great security and... More

I've stayed at Castillo many times over the years. The first thing you will notice when you check in is the warm and friendly staff. Instead of being just members of the staff or employees, the good people at Castillo greet you like family, it feels like you are coming home when you check in. It is very easy to... More

I cannot say enough about this place located in the heart of San Jose's party land. Everything you want is 5 minutes away. A bachelors paradise and a great hotel to call home. The staff will treat you like family and the men who stay there will become feriends for life. We are all in this together so welcome to... More

Now there are better hotels than this in San Jose but this is excellent value. It's located well, in an affluent area close to bars and restaurants. The breakfast is fine, coffee, boiled eggs and rice/beans, toast . The staff are very friendly and helpful. San Jose is a pretty scary kind of place and best to take taxis pretty... More

Nice quaint hotel convenient to downtown by taxi or foot. Convenient to Sportsmens Lodge and other hotels. Staff is always there 24/7. Sometimes has early traffic noises. Has AC and cable TV along with lockable safe.

I have stayed at The Castillo several times, and am never disappointed. The hotel is found in Barrio Amon, and although frequented by a good bunch of guys from Canada and the US, there are often back packers and budget hotel seekers to be found at the back bar or enjoying the light continental (included) breakfast. The hotel is broken... More

After a full day of inter-bus bouncing from Bocas I was more than willing to forgive a great deal in exchange for a hot shower and a bed. Check in was flawless but the room - blah ( it was a "deluxe"! In the new section) and as I was unpacking I discovered a large, dead cockroach. Crap! Now I... More
