We stayed in this hostel three nights and we wouldn´t recommend anyone to stay there unless you don´t care about money. The staff at the front desk, tour desk or at the bar is neither helpful nor friendly and the prices are just a ripoff. A beer in their bar is $3 (in their Happy Hour between 9-11pm "only" $2,50),...

Just one big money machine. 9$ loundry, 3$ beer, expensive food (10$ decent burger) and if you have a bus or a flight the day you check out, you have to pay extra 5$ after 2pm just to hang out in the commen area. Even more if you have to stay after 6pm. very unfriendly staff exept if you want...

It's a cool place to meet those who are just stopping by for a night but I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here if you can avoid it. The rooms are so tiny, barely have anything in them and really are for those who don't need much. They don't maintain this place very well..except for the upstairs bar area. The computers,...

If you want access to a clean, modern bar and restaurant with decent looking food and drinks at typical USA prices AND NOTHING ELSE then you´ll be happy. Otherwise, avoid this place. My experience with hostels is that they are catering for the budget crowd and do as much as possible to make you stay affordable. This place is the...

Booked a couple nights here as a place to go on the start of a 5 month Central America trip. I knew nothing about backpacking or hostels, so this was my first step into that world. The hostel feels big and very impersonal. The staff is always tucked away behind desks in dark rooms. This place might be a good...

The staff are not very accommodating or friendly, and all the 'included extras' you pay for are not as expected considering how much you pay for a room. Disappointed as we had heard good reviews. Felt uncomfortable and awkward around staff, and it is quite loud at night. The one good thing is you do feel quite safe in the...

Pangea is a true backpacking place and the hostel has an according standard: small rooms, common bathrooms and public areas. Nevertheless, it is pretty clean and the common areas are big and well equipped (with computers, bar, swimming pool, lockers). The food is really good. We enjoyed the airport pickup and neat check in service. It is located very centrally...

Not sure why this hostel claims to be a party hostel since it is not. There was no party whatsoever, but there was a lot of social interaction and activity on the rooftop bar/restaurant area plus nice loud music playing at all times of the day. The view is also really nice from the top and the hammocks are a...

It's has the best view from the roof and a nice bar. Close to main streets. Cons: no kitchen, the staff wasn't outgoing, on a sketchy block. I stayed in a 8 person dorm. Everyone was nice. It had just enough room to fit everyone bags. It's easy to meet others. I found it nice and quiet at night too.

What really ruined my stay was the staff and the hostel policies. First off, Pangea is the only place that I have found in Costa Rica where the exchange rate is 550 colones to $1 instead of the usual 500 to $1, which really stunk because I was paying in colones. My friends and I were treated very rudely and...
