When we arrived they gave us a key and let us find out ourselves where the room was (the place is big). The room was pretty dirty, in particular the floor. We had a drink at the rooftop bar, which was pretty nice. Had to wait 15 minutes to order, because there was no staff around. After sleeping for half... More

Lovely hostel with a pool and restaurant, staff are welcoming and polite and the rooms are clean and neat and very spacious, would defiantly go back to stay the night! I would recommend this hosel to anyone with or without children as there is plenty to do within the hostel and a great holiday environment!

WOW! Absolutely disguested on how I was treated. I was at costa rica yesterday and had to rebook my flight back home the next day. PANGEA STOLE EVERY DIME I HAD IN MY ACCOUNT AND RUNIED MY TRIP FOR COSTA RICA!!! Let me start from the beginning, before I departed to Costa Rica, I sent an email to request a... More

A bit of paradise in the ugly city of San Jose. Impersonal hostel because of its size but everything is well organized, it is beautiful, opened 24/7, swimming pool, rooftop, bus to the airport... We did not booked in advance so we got a small room without windows.

there are so many better choices in San Jose. Pangea is dark, dingy, dirty, horrible staff - and expensive. they are just out to make money on travellers. the bar food - despite all the propaganda was disgusting. never again

First of all, the staff is very kind - the hostel is close to the mainstreet - but don't do your laundry here!! Clothes worth of 100 USD got melted from the dryer and had blue spots on it. Actually pretty sad because until this happened we enjoyed our stay.

We did not have a good experience at all at this hostel. We had booked a private room and the girl at the front desk made us pay in cash before even seeing the room. She then gave us no directions on how to find our room. After walking around for quite a while (it's kind of like a maze... More

What struck me most was the rude staff....the minute you step into the hostel you get a sour taste of it! not helpful at all and in a bad mood always! Not just one but the three I had interaction with. The Dorm rooms & drinks were very overpriced like everything else in Costa Rica! The prices are just not justified!... More

After 5 months of staying in hostels in South and Central America this place is the worst in which I have ever stayed. From the moment we arrived I wanted to leave but due to the ‘non refundable’ booking policy I was forced to stay. It’s hard to know where to stay my list of issues, from the bedbugs to... More

Hostel staff is legitimately hostile toward guests. Staff will steal out of lockers - two fellow backpackers had a total of 760 dollars stolen from them on the same night, out of the lockers to which only they and the staff had keys. Wasn't shown my room, bathrooms, or hostel layout whatsoever. Wasnt told what checkout time was or that... More
