My stay was more like being around family and friends than in a strange hotel. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. They helped book side excursions, recommended place to go and also, where not to go. The bar and resturant are now open! What wonderful addition! We had dinner; the food was great ! The Chef Victor, even came... More

My wife and I have been visiting San Jose for quite a few years now and this is definitely our favorite hotel in San Jose. Much better value than anything like the Presidente, and nicer surroundings too. Hotel is very clean and stylishly decorated, very comfortable beds, and very friendly staff. Great hot breakfasts only add to the appeal of... More

Based on prior review on Trip Advisor, we had great expectations for this hotel which were not realized. The place is okay, but there is nothing special about this hotel that appealed to us. We stayed separate nights between different tours.

This is the best place to stay in San Jose. I have tried other hotels and this is the best. The staff is very friendly and eager to please. This is probably not the best place to bring your family, but if you are single it is the place to stay. Made to order breakfast, fast internet, clean rooms, cable... More

Based on the reviews, I had really high expectations for this place. Perhaps that is why I was disappointed. I wanted to cap off our trip with a really nice place to relax on our last evening, so I sprung for the $150 penthouse with jacuzzi tub, sauna, and balcony. Plush, huh? Well, the jacuzzi didn't have hot water, and... More

Have been staying at the Amistad for a long time now. Prior to Matt it was owned by a German Ex-Pat named Wolfgang who befriended me at the time. I was wondering how it would be with a new owner and a lot of changes. I'm happy to say it has only become better with Matt the new owner. He... More

I stayed here for five days and I have to say that all the good reviews here are extremely accurate. This hotel is almost perfect! The building is an architectural piece of art, everything seems to be cared for in the details, the room, I had a penthouse suite, is spacious and comfortable, everything is new and well kept. The... Ive stayed at the hotel a few times . I felt very comfortable in a country that I was not familiar with. The sleeping accomodations were excellent and I felt like I was in a five star hotel. However, the absolute reason I like the Amistad is the staff, in particular Mr Carlos Rodriquez. He always went the extra mile... More
