I only stayed a night in San José so I can't really say that I've had a chance to explore the hotel much. I thought the staff were nice. I arrived a bit earlier than my check-in time, so while I waited for my room to be ready, I decided to eat lunch at the restaurant in the hotel since I was starving due to not being fed on the plane. I thought the food was delicious. I had the sopa de mariscos and some patacones. My room was all right. I thought some things were a little bit outdated compared to what the reception area looked like, but I was so tired from my trip that I just showered and crashed. I did sleep well, so that's a plus. Breakfast was included for me. It was buffet style and delicious. I checked-out right after breakfast to go to my tour en route to Arenal.
Clean, friendly, 2 gift shops, pool, and 3 restaurants. The outdoor areas are surrounded by lush garden paths so you don't even know you are in the middle of the city. Restaurant food was good. Slept well. Helpful staff. Very reasonably priced compared to similar hotels and more bang for your buck.
This is a good quality hotel that would have received a much higher review from me had it not been for a very unpleasant incident at reception. We were on a package holiday and had stayed there a week earlier with no problem. All went well until I came to check out, on arrival at reception, Angie and what seemed to be her supervisor were looking at some earrings and not paying attention. I gave my room number and was told the accommodation had to be paid for - knowing this not to be the case and after no effort to look into the problem I called for the manager (a young man!). Absolutely no use at all, we called our travel agent and it transpired they had looked at the wrong room and accused me of giving them the wrong room number - which I certainly did not. Had they tried to sort out the problem straight away by asking names this would have been sorted, but nobody wanted to query the problem and they were adamant that I had given the wrong number (even after it had been sorted). Poor staff and management spoiled what would have been two good stays. Don't dismiss and accuse guests without checking the facts and concentrate on what the guest is saying rather than discussing personal matters with other staff. You are letting the rest of the hotel staff down.…
The front desk service was alright, they need more people to work at the front desk, usually long wait. I gave 5 plus review for the restaurant, two staff, Jose and Tatiana really made us come back to the restaurant for their excellent service. They both were very professional, friendly, and made us feel very comfortable. Unfortunately, I was only served by them for 2-3 days. For some reason, when they served the food, it came hot and nicely placed on the proper plate. Felt good positive energy from them. Gracias, Jose and Tatiana Pura Vida
the staff was rude and not helpful! my keycard didn't work had to have them fix it everyday of my stay! i paid for breakfast during my stay and they didn't honor it even though orbitz reps called AND e-mailed confirmation of breakfast! i called the front desk for utensils and they never showed up. we asked for the shuttle from the airport and first they said 4:30 then they said no so we waited and one showed up at 4:30 i will NEVER stay at this hotel again!
Last minute stay at this hotel, due an overnight flight delay. Premium room which gives access to complimentary drinks & buffet. Comfortable bed, nice friendly & helpful staff. Food expensive, but large portions. If you use the shuttle to the airport leave plenty of time to get there the traffic in the city is pretty bad.
We arrived at the hotel from the airport at 6pm and we waited two hours to check-in. There was only 1 person and 50 people not knowing what was happening. The rooms are very noisy due to highway proximity. Old carpets and bad service at breakfast. Not 5 star service.
This is a great hotel. It’s very clean, the staff are extremely helpful , and the food is absolutely delicious . Breakfast was included. Some of the best food I’ve had in my life , I think ingredients just taste better in tropical climates. Would definitely stay again, it’s in a great location and they offer complimentary airport shuttle service.
Friendly team of employees, clean and centrally located about 15 minutes to the city center. They provide shuttle to and from airport, I like the gym facilities. Breakfast was great they have spa attached to the hotel. Dining by the pool… I enjoyed my stay there and will stay there on next trips.
The hotel is located 15 mins from the airport and has good connections to exit San José, and they offer shuttle service from the airport The room was big and comfortable Breakfast was excellent, typical in barcelo hotels , it includes chef cooking omelettes to customer taste Staff was friendly
