We spent our first night in Costa Rica at Hotel Santo Tomas. The staff is friendly and helpful. When we were getting ready to leave for La Fortunate, the owner gave us many helpful tips and tricks on how to get there, what to do, and where to eat. We will be staying here again on our last night in... More

Hi Shannon, so happy I was able to meet you and family before your departure. Most mornings I am there early to meet and greet our clients in the breakfast area. Everyone has an interesting story and I love to hear them. I always enjoy speaking to the children, they really do come out with some pretty funny stuff. I... More

I stay here every time I am I San Jose. Downtown is close and the staff is very helpful,. They do not allow prostitutes. The pool, restaurant and yard are quit for downtown. I love this Hotel which is owned by an American who is married to a Tico wife

This hotel is located just a few blocks from the main drag in town making it a prime location and cutting down the noise a bit. From the outside, it's not much to look at but don't let that fool you! There is a small pool with a water slide and jacuzzi and the jacuzzi is heated year-round. There are... More

Hi Steph, I just reviewed your check in process and spoke with Omar and he did note what occurred on your reservations form, when you came in. You arrived at 8 20 in the morning. You stayed June the 26 for one night. The room you were originally reserved in was our cheapest , an economy and was occupied the... More

We stayed here on our way in and out of San Jose. Nice rooms, helpful service and fairly secure with security gates, including secure parking. If you're looking for cheap and accessible, this is it. Downside is that it's a hike from the airport.

Hi Richard, We are in the heart of San Jose in a great location, especially if you are going to Tortuguerro or the East side. Two blocks away and you are out of town! We suggest to taxi in and have their rental car delivered the next morning after the free breakfast. This eliminates stress, saves time and money. WE can... More

What a romantic getaway! The enclosed garden with swimming pool and jacuzzi, little nooks, outdoor raised atrium and old-world charm beckon laziness and raises the question of 'why leave when we can just stay here?' The location is perfect and the price reasonable, but here's the list point by point: HOTEL APPEARANCE: Perfect, quaint and charming. ROOMS: Comfortable and fitting... More

Hola Paul, Great description of what a traveler will find here ! Wonderful meeting you and your wife and hearing your story. Yes, we are having a little problem with the pool, there is a pretty active Volcano tossing ash all over the place , so we are working extra hard to keep it clean, hey that is life in... More

We stayed at the Hotel Santo Tomas in San Jose at the start and end of our trip. It is located close to restaurants and shopping which was perfect for us as the airline lost my husbands luggage. Spent 2 nights in the hotel as a single traveller. The hotel location is good. The hotel is old fashion and i felt like i came to grandmothers house. Hi Stenbb, Grandmothers house is good , the only thing missing is the cookies ! To address your comment on the exchange rate: There is always a buy and sell rate , two different numbers. As the smallest coin in Costa Rican now is the 5 colon coin, we have rounded off the exchange rate to make it easy for... More

This hotel was exactly what my friend and I needed for our Costa Rica trip! Right downtown in San Jose, we arrived at 9pm and the desk worker Raul made us feel welcome, safe, and excited.
