We stayed at Hotel Alta for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed the time. The hotel is situated at the crest of a ridge and the night view from the balcony was extraordinary. The grounds are also beautiful, especially the area around the pool. The room was large and well decorated. We recommend the 4th floor, which was convenient and high enough for a great view. There were occasional problems with the water pressure but nothing that didn't resolve itself it a reasonable amount of time. TV stations were not available, but the wi-fi was excellent and secure. It is about a 30-minute drive to the city center and about 10 minutes to the center of Escazu. Breakfasts are generous and good. We also ate dinner every night in the restaurant, a beautiful setting. The dining room has large open windows and the extremely professional wait staff was masked so we felt quite safe. The food was superb and varied. The front desk staff was very helpful, especially with getting our Covid tests and results. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay with personalized service.

Hotel's Favorite
Warmly greeted and directed up to the 4th floor. We had a standard room but it was huge with a big balcony and large bathroom. It was eclectically decorated but comfortable. Good quality toiletries and all clean. We were told we could have a complimentary drink in the bar - a nice touch. We weren’t hungry enough to eat dinner but did go down to the bar/dining room. The food looked excellent, as was the service. Breakfast was good quality and sophisticated and all served professionally. There is a pool and loungers and a pretty garden. The hotel is on several levels on the hillside and although there is an elevator, there are lots of steps. Airport - our agent booked this hotel for us and we thought it was going to be reasonably close to the airport. However, it is a long drive from the airport - it took almost an hour upon arrival, and almost 45 minutes the following morning, so do bear this in mind.

Dear yorkspuds, thank you for staying at Hotel Alta Las Palomas, and for taking the time to write such a great review of our property. We appreciate all your great comments. The hotel is located very close to Highway 27 which is the direct link to the airport, but it is not in a direct straight line, so we always advise for at least 45 minutes to get to and from there. We hope you come back to Costa Rica and to stay with us very soon again. Best regards, Juanita Miranda, General Manager

I stayed at the hotel December 27-29. Booked room 502 . tried to take a shower, very little water coming out of the showerhead . Got out of the shower , called front desk to complain , and noticed the duvet on the bed had black dirt marks on it . I complained about both incidents ,they came and changed the bed, at that point i was told I would receive a 30% credit on the room . When I checked out , I was told the credit was forthcoming , after 3 e mails promising action , i disputed the charge with my CC company. Don't stay here, but do eat here , the restaurant is outstanding , and service from Gerald was the best.

Dear 775terryh. Thank you for staying at Hotel Alta Las Palomas. We are sorry if your experience was not completely outstanding. The front desk took all pertinent actions immediately upon your requests. We have submitted the credit request to the credit card company per our policies however the process is taking some time. Thank you for your positive comments on our restaurant and our wait staff. We hope to welcome you again very soon.

This is a wonderful boutique hotel. We stayed here one night at the beginning of our Costa Rican adventure. The rooms are lovely, the view is stunning, and the pool is relaxing. Opt for the newly opened tapas restaurant. The chef is Michelin starred and the food is amazing. The osso bucco is to die for!

Dear R8469GVdonnab: thank you so much for staying at Hotel Alta Las Palomas. We are very pleased that your experience with us was a memorable one. Our staff works very hard to keep our standards to the highest level, and reviews like yours make us want to be even better! We are very proud of our new Park Cafe at Alta Las Palomas restaurant and feel priviledged to have a chef of Richard Neat´s standing working with us. We hope to see you again very soon!

We stayed in this hotel for the first night after our wedding, we waited at least 15 minutes for someone to help us at the lobby, then we got to the room with a horrible smell of humidity, after that we tried to use the tv in the room because there was a lot of noise coming from outside and it didn't work, tried using the wifi with my laptop to play a movie and cancel the noice, it didn't work. Finally we ordered some wine to be able to sleep. Next day in the morning we decide to take a shower and get ready to leave ASAP, guess what? Brown water is coming out of the shower. I am from Costa Rica, I have traveled the world, I know hotels and I can assure you that this hotel will make you feel like you got robbed.

Dear Mr. Manriquexx, thank you for staying at Hotel Alta Las Palomas and for taking the time to write your review. It is always our intention that every guest has an amazing experience in our boutique 4 star hotel. > > Reviewing your reservation we noticed you had reserved a “No window room” which is usually reserved for drivers or coachmen. Being a VIP Expedia customer we upgraded you to a two room suite, a bed room and a sitting room with balcony, “Suite 25” which you stayed in. > We understand you had to wait for some minutes upon your arrival to be greeted. Our night receptionist was assisting another customer at the time, but came to check you as soon as he could. You complained about the quality of WiFi signal in the room, we agree that we have had difficulty with our WiFi connections over the weekend you stayed with us. Day before your stay, we had several severe power outages by CNFL the local power company. This created havoc in our Wifi network. American Data and ICE were working to restore the signal, but by Sunday Wifi still was not completely functional . Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences this disruption may have caused. > The smell of humidity has been checked by our maintenance team and has been reported normal for the heavy rainy season we were experiencing . It has been remedied. > Regarding the noise you complained , Alta las Palomas was fully booked that night and the only complaint was yours . The city ordinance dictates that all noise must stop by11 pm and have confirmation from security that at exactly 11pm all was quite. > The complaint about brown water coming out of your shower, again our maintenance personnel checked all the pipes in rooms and the floor but nothing was found, and the water flows out clean. As reported the hotel was full over the weekend and we did not have any other similar complaints. > We tried to contact your personal phone as soon as you checked out to apologize for the WIFI and understand fully how everything went wrong. > Our aim is that all our guests have an amazing experience and we hope to be able to show you our service and quality in your next visit. > Best regards, Juanita Miranda
