I had a wonderful stay at Villas Jaquelina. From the moment I arrived Steve went above and beyond to help make me comfortable. I got in in the evening when it was dark so he kindly helped me order some food for delivery. He was a great resource for reccomendations and directions. The Villas are just a little walk from center to town (10-15 min) where you can also catch the public bus to manuel antonio beaches. Rooms are simple, but they serve their purpose (trust me you'll want to be out exploring!) I'd definitley stay here again and highly recommend!!
We showed up in Quepos like idiots with no reservation during the busy season; nearly every hotel in town was fully booked and we were desperate. I saw the signs for Villas Jacquelina, and Steve was extremely helpful right off the bat--he was also fully booked, but made some calls to help us find another room; that didn't pan out, but someone who'd made a reservation for Steve's last available room didn't show up, so we were fortunate to get it. The room was basic (everything is basic in Costa Rica unless you want to pay an arm and a leg--maybe, we didn't try), but inexpensive and perfectly fine. The shared bathroom was also perfectly fine. The open-air common area is very comfortable, the coffee is good, and Steve is an excellent host. No noise heard from other guests, no bugs in the rooms, no complaints whatsoever. Reliable wifi.…
We a family of four (adults) stayed at villa Jaquelina for 3 days. Perfect place to visit the mational park. Nuce, cklean rooms. Very spacious verandas and an amazing terrace .Steven is the perfect host. He recommended a spicy / coffee tour , with vanilla tours which was amazing. At the day of return We have had problems with strike and could not leave Quepos for 5 hours. We returned to the hostel and he welcomed us although we had already checked out. Thank you for your hospitality Highly recommended
We showed up without a reservation nor having done much research on the town or its hostels. Just went with what the lonely planet recommended. We met Steve and his nephew- lovely and fun people. They gave us the pent house- aka bird's nest- for a few nights. The stairs are a little steep but I thought it was very cool! Who doesn't love spiral staircases?! The "room" is open air and gives great views of the mountains! It rained heavily while we were up there in our swinging bed. It was just lovely! And it's just a ten minute walk to town which was nice. It felt more secure and quiet. If we're ever in Quepos again that's where you'll find us.
Maybe I should have researched this property a bit more but I was swayed by the Treehouse room . Travelling as a family of 3 this property is definitely aimed more at backpackers. Room definitely has fantastic views and so much potential to be fantastic. Towels provided were marked and poor quality , didn't use any cooking facilities but crockery didn't look particularly clean , intermittent working light and a fan which rattled noisily so didn't use it. A few hanging hooks ,option of better lighting , better linens and towels would have improved experience. I mistakenly thought breakfast was included but 6usd breakfast was the poorest we had in CR. Went out for breakfast on other mornings Room is accessed by very steep spiral staircase - be warned !
