I went on vacation to Costa Rica and we went to Quepos because it’s a nice area close to the beach and close to the natural parks. Also I recommend going to the warm water springs. We loved the Blue Banyan Inn because it has a family feel, and they have great customer care. It’s nothing too fancy, but it’s great value for your money! The owner is American so no problem with English and they have a swimming pool, breakfast and the rooms have air conditioning. I liked that they also work to care for the wildlife in the area, and create excursions and tours to see them. All with all I recommend it and I would certainly come back.

The Inn is a very nice property out in the jungle. It is a little bit of a drive from Quepos, but it's a great place to stay. I see other reviews complaining about various things, but I had no issue finding the Inn or with any aspect of my stay. Chip helped arrange transit to and from Quepos airport and I could get around ok without a car (although a car rental might be useful for a longer stay). Breakfast was awesome and enough for two people. Pool was great. If you are considering visiting Kids Saving the Rainforest (adjacent to the Inn), you should stay AT the Inn. That was a great add-on and very worthwhile to see all the good things KSTR is doing for the local wildlife.

Chip and Jennifer who runs the Inn and the Sanctuary are fabulous people, they have huge hearts and are the driving force for the caring of animals to rehabilitate them back into the wild. They have an animal sanctuary where the animals are cared for who cannot be released back into the wild due to disability or where they have been recused from the pet trade and have been humanised. They welcome you into their inn with a fab breakfast. The rooms have air con and are very big, with huge bathrooms with a walk in shower. They are set in lovely tranquil gardens with a lovely pool. If peace is what you want with people having a superb value set about giving back to save the rainforest and animals - this is the place for you.

We made our reservation through their website two months before the stay, and got the reservation number through email. Before we leave, we emailed them to confirm the room, they said there's no room available for us any more. We showed them our reservation with confirmation ID, however, no any response. They hang up my call and didn't response any email. Not even say sorry that they messed up. We had to change our plan the last minutes. Very bad experience with them!

I am so sorry to hear you had this experience. Given your description of the response upon making a reservation, it sounds as if you booked through a third party, which likely led to this issue with customer service. I am so sorry for any inconvenience this caused for your trip, and for all future bookings I encourage you to reach out directly to chip@kstr.org or volunteer@kstr.org, and we will be happy to assist you with any issues pertaining to your stay or reservation with us. Thank you for your review.

The Blue Banyan is a lovely place to stay, it is in the hills surrounded by jungle and off the beaten track. However, while it feels remote it is only 15 minutes drive to the nearest town, Quepos. It only has three cabins, we stayed in Hibiscus, it was very comfortable and spacious with a great terrace looking towards the mountains. The pool was beautiful, the water warm and silky and we had it to ourselves. Breakfast was excellent. Chip, the owner, was helpful and fun. It is a little hard to find so make sure you have good directions, sat navy is useful! We would also recommend the guided tour around the wildlife refuge run by 'Kids Saving the Rainforest'.
