Stayed here for 2 nights, hotel is ok but don't expect anything more. The hotel is close to the beach and port. For breakfast they offer pancakes, fruit, rice and beans (off course :-) omelette and toasted bread. They also offer dinner in this hotel. Room has airco and a fridge.

We needed a hotel after our trip across the gulf by ferry. I carefully read many reviews here on TA. Most of the top rated hotels had their issues, primarily noise. We selected Alamar Aparthotel based on price and reviews. If you compare it to hotels in the US, it was pretty bad. Old, in need of many cosmetic fixes,...

PPuntarenas is a grimy city, but the hotel was nice. It's a beach town, and this is a beach hotel. The pool was refreshing, but the hot tub wasn't very hot. It was more of a warm tub. Overall, it was a great experience, but only if you're wanting to be at the beach a lot.

We picked this hotel because we had a late ferry from Nicoya. The building and its rooms are in need of renovation, and the staff appeared disorganized. To give an example, they forgot to open the parking, after having told us they would so so... Breakfast (included in our rate) is extremely limited: coffee, juice, gallo pinto, scrambled eggs, fruit....

Stayed at the hotel for over a month thru a study abroad program and was quite impressed. Service was great and the toilets are able to flush toilet paper. A huge win in central America! The restaurant served good food and cheap cerveza's. The rooms are accommodating with fans but no AC. A lot of bugs around tho. Do not...

Located directly across the street from the Beach, this hotel is a nice option for a night or two away from the City (only an hour and 15 minutes from San Jose). Touted as the closest Beach to San Jose, Puntarenas is really making strides (new Boardwalk along the beach, lighting, etc.) I found this hotel next to Las Brisas...

I checked in at 8:30pm. Toted my bags in off the street as the parking was out back. Asked about the restaurant and they told me it closed at 9pm. By the time I sat down, it was 8:45pm and the server told me that I could have ceviche or a sandwich. I asked if there was somewhere close I...

I didn't actually stay at this place, but checked it out, comparing it to the place I stayed next door (Las Brisas). The common areas at the Alamar were quite well tended, and the pool area was lovely. the restaurant was very attractive though I haven't a clue what the food was like. The reception staff were very courteous and...
