The night in the hostel was ok, but the son of the owner tried to rip us off! He would arrange camping material and entrance tickets for the Corcovado National Park, but he didn't. We got a guide, called Nelson. He was not an authentic or certified guide. But we didn’t know that in advance. We found out when he...

Jungle Hostel is located 3 kilometers outside of Puerto Jimenez requiring the use of their transportation service, a free car shuttle driven by Kenneth, the manager's son. By providing access to guests and opportunity to sell his bogus travel services, the hostel intentionally supports activities that are often shady and unethical, of poor quality and at inflated prices since Kenneth...

This hostel is definitely a jungle hostel and the rooms are open to the outside world so expect some little lizards in your room and the odd bug. There is a short hiking trail around the property where you can see lots of wildlife, in five days I saw monkeys, a sloth, 2 species of snake, lots of lizards, tree...

The hostel is amazing, in the middle of jungle with beautiful life around! Monkeys and macaws that wake you up in the morning, or play in the trees while you´re taking a shower.. It is such a wonderul, peaceful place! However, do not- under any circumstances- book a hikingtour with them! I know it´s tempting when all permits inside the...

The hostel is nice, but isolated. Their son organizes an overnight hiking tour where you start from the hostel, walk two hours up the up the road past some farms, then another two hours along a scenic jungle trail before camping by a small stream. The hostel owners take no responsibility for their son's tours even though they promote it...

The cabanas are great ($14 per person). Comfortable, clean, cozy. Jungle views. Quiet. Lots of jungle sounds at night. There are two short trails on the property and the dirt road has great views and lots of animal sightings as well. We saw spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys and howler monkeys, the great curassow, fiery-billed aracaris, toucans, falcons, hawks, woodpeckers, a...

If you want to see Chestnut-billed Toucans, this is the place. 5:30 - 6:30am. The cabins themselves are great places from which to see morning birds, especially the one called Toucan. The windows are open, with only curtains, but there's mosquito netting over the beds.

A perfect stay for a nice experience in the jungle. In the kitchen you meet other nice people from all over the world and you will get new friends (if you want to)! From the cabin you see monkeys and birds early in the morning. It's lovley!!! BUT the WiFi doesn't work, you can get WiFi in downtown Puerto Jimenez...

This hostel in a word can be described as versatile. Take what aspects you are looking for, and expand them. This hostel is not for those who are squeamish around bugs as the jungle has many to offer, yet most are charming and harmless and would just like to get their work done in peace. This could be a relaxing...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bello Horizonte Jungle Hostel is an "Alternative" hostel for budget travelers and anyone seeking a friendly ,"welcome to our jungle home" experience. Operated by Luchy and her husband Peter and Luchy's two sons. Jungle Hostel is a truly Osa creation. Located just 3km. From Puerto Jimenez. Jungle Hostel is 15 minutes by taxi or free shuttle from the Puerto Jimenez beaches, markets, bank etc. In the hills fresh breezes, starry nights and big trees abound. The sound of the surf from ocean view cabanas and the jungle vibrations make our location unique in the Puerto Jimenez area. Our accommodations are screened bamboo cabanas set in the jungle. The cabanas are full of light and fresh air. Two cabanas have two dorm style bunk beds each. Two more cabanas are outfitted with queen beds. All the beds are ready made with sheets, pillow and mosquito nets. All cabanas have individual lockers for your gear. The jungle view "shower tower" with two complete bathrooms is accessible to the cabanas by lighted footpath and bridge. The hostel has a large communal kitchen with two stoves and plenty of room for creating meals. Our up stairs lounge area with ocean view offers a great wildlife viewing and relaxing zone. Jungle Hostel is an "off grid" facility. We generate our own electricity. Footpaths, bathrooms and lounge/kitchen have electricity from 5:30 pm until around 10:00pm. Charge your devices, WiFi available. Jungle Hostel has trails throughout our property that access the surrounding rivers and hills. Trails are available for our guests to explore at their leisure.
