Cabanas Jimenez is one of the few places left where you have an end of tge Earth experience within relatively easy access. The pleasures and conveniences of home with a chorus of parrots and macaws to wake you up and lull you to sleep. views over the osa sea and peninsula, kayaks available with local guides. Don't want to brag but yesterday we caught yellowfin tuna, the largest of which was over 200lbs, Mahi and a big sailfish. got video of the sail dancing to prove it. cooked up by Delpines local chefs en un salsa de ajo. if you can't relax here you have a problem. hiking to waterfall at matapalo for sunset this evening. hasta luego!
My daughter and I stayed 3 nights in Bungalow 1. It's a simple accommodation that has a fantastic balcony with sofas, an outside kitchen with all the amenities and it overlooks the Golfe Dulce. Everything in the room worked and the beds were comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful. Admittedly, I was a bit high-maintenance but Keyla and Anny, who both worked at the reception desk, were patient, polite and helpful. I hurt my leg and decided to get a massage from Any - the wife of the owner John. Simply fantastic! 5 star massage hands down. And she's just a lovely, kind woman. The location cannot be beat. It's at the end of town and close to everything (although Puerto Jimenez is not that big), but still, great location. There are bikes and kayaks available on site for no charge!!! Would definitely stay here again if we return to CR. Thank you all.…
Very charming hotel on the bay and easy walking distance to restaurants, grocery etc. The free use of the hotel’s bicycles and kayaks makes for easy, last minute activities. Best part of the stay was the staff from checkin with Anna to checkout with John.
Even before arrival I had a great experience; I had been emailing with John (the owner I think) who was so friendly and accommodating! check in was fantastic! annie (i think!) was so personable and so excited to share with us all there was to offer - both at the property and in the area. The welcoming dogs were a special treat! Lucky and Conchita were so sweet! our room was #19 (i think), which was a fairly small room, but had a HUGE outdoor area with kitchenette (including a little fridge AND a coffee maker and coffee! which was a big win based on our travels through the country) and cozy seating areas (x2!) which overlooked the inlet. we were told it was one of the more private rooms and we were very happy with it - who needs to be inside when you can watch the waves, sunset and macaws (and iguanas on your porch!). there was not only a working fan, but also AC. unfortunately our stay was a stopover on the way out of Matapalo, but it was great and i wish we would have booked a bit longer. the property is located within walking distance of several really good restaurants (we ate at two and if you want pizza - go to pizza mail-it!) and it's a short walk to the dock where all the boat tours depart from (i think the property actually has a boat that will pick you up right outside the hotel at certain tides, but check with them, of course). the area is quiet and at night, if it's not unbearably hot, you can leave your door open and listen to the waves lap the shore. we didn't have time to visit the pool or get a kayak, but the pool looked very inviting (and is open all hours provided you are respectful of the other guests) and the options we were given for kayaking seemed absolutely irresistible, but alas, our timing was off on that as well (you can't go out at low tide - if you go, you'll see why). there are also places you can walk or kayak? to view crocs (or caiman?) and there are multiple tours you can arrange from the hotel for horse-backing, hiking, whale watching, etc. there is onsite parking as well - some of it is inside a gate, but that is very limited. we parked outside the gate and had no problems. overall i think this is a great property! If I go back to this area I will make sure I can stay here.…
We enjoyed our stay at Cabinas Jimenez very much. John and his employees were very helpful planning and organizing trips (we went to Corcovado and Cabo Matapalo). There are also free bikes and kayaks (there are mangroves just around the corner to explore) available as well as a little pool. The rooms were clean and nice.
We loved our stay. The staff, especially Annie, were helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Would you like trees full of green parrots and scarlet macaws outside your patio? This is the place. Great view overlooking the gulf. And the town of Puerto Jimenez was enjoyable..
I stayed here two times in the course of three months. First time for a night, and then came back for a week. The location is beautiful, just by the water. You can literally walk down from any room into the sea in 2 minutes, when the tide is high. You can also sit in a chair and watch the sunrise in the morning. It's silent and clean. All the staff is very warm and welcoming, and so are the owners. Ask for a massage, by the swiming pool, with a view over the bay, it's worth every moment of it. They have this place for quite a while, and run it like a happy family. I love this place. And will surely come back and stay here, if I am ever in Costa RIca again. I love Puerto Jimenez.
Stayed for 3 nights and could stay here a lot more. The location is very good, on the bay water line with a great view. It is quiet and close to the center of the small beach front town . Rooms are clean , excellent beds and mattresses ,bathrooms clean could be better with some upgrade on the hot water but adequate. Some rooms have beautiful scenery . Staff is amazing helpful and willing . Recommend with 5 star
We spent 5 great days at this lovely resort which is situated at the edge of town directly on the ocean. We used the free kayaks often to paddle the nearby mangrove swamps. We most enjoyed the recommendations and helpfulness of both Annie and Kayla. They were both exceptionally cheerful and kind. Highly recommended.
This is a wonderful place to stay in Puerto Jiminez. We booked Room #10, possibly the best in the place. Good facilities and AC. Wonderful tiled terrace with a kitchen so you can dine right there and look out on the gulf. John is a great host, and staff is incredibly helpful. Be sure to take a tour on his boat to see the speckled dolphins play. The place is very quite and peaceful. Nicest place to stay ever.
