Secluded in the tropical rain forest bordering Corcovado National Park, Luna Lodge is a unique resort described by many as "...a piece of true paradise". Its appeal is, not only, its natural beauty and environment, where the heliconia hang three feet long, and the howler monkeys wake you in the morning, but also, its ambiance. The owners' passion for the preservation of the forest is ever present, and the attentive courtesy, friendly staff always serve "con mucho gusto... with pleasure".

Truly a magical place, couldn’t believe I felt so connected to everything. I went there for my first yoga retreat ever, the yoga place and platform’s view is just amazing. The food is great, I stayed for a week, and none lunch nor dinner was repeated. Take time to talk to Lana (the owner), her story is truly inspiring.

My husband and I still talk about this incredible place in the middle of the jungle well after our stay. Somehow Lana managed to build this place that blends a luxury stay in nature in the middle of the jungle, without any large company of investors to support her. Her story is an amazing one, but the stay at Luna Lodge is even more amazing. We stayed in Hut 1, which I think is the first one she built. The hut has amazing view into the valley and the jungle across. The hut itself is beautiful, the bed super comfortable, yet all blending well into the surrounding. The location is higher up in the mountain so there is a constant breeze and no mosquitos. We saw toucans, macaws, spider monkeys, endless hummingbirds there. The food was really good, and healthy. The best part was the yoga platform, it's gotta be the most beautiful place to do yoga in the world. It's not easy getting to Luna, but well worth the effort!

Room Tip: If you can afford it, go with the huts and not the tents, the tents are quite a hike up a hill...

Lana, mother and her staff is making this place magnificent and very different from others. It’s a perfect place if you’re looking for personal stay with a lot of interaction, sharing stories and spiritual vibes. It’s a place if you want deeper experience, be close to the nature and get some inspiration how the life can look like if you follow your intuition, dreams and work hard. I really loved the place, and I think only persons who shouldn’t be here, but rather in classical hotels, can write a not 5* review, because this place is not comparable with others. Thank you for having me! Hope to see you soon.

Review Luna Incredible! If you enjoy “off the beaten path”, nature, etc, I can not more highly recommend that you book this trip immediately! And could not speak more highly of Luna lodge. The osa peninsula and Corcovado natl park, are an incredibly beautiful, remote, part of CR/the world. Regardless of where you stay, go! Reasons to stay at Luna lodge: 1. Marlon. Marlon guides the tours and is incredibly passionate about nature- he will spot things you would never see on your own, will capture incredible photos for you, is always happy even at 430am. Highlights include the Corcovado walk, ridge hike (not for the faint of heart, should be physically fit), sunrise lagoon kayaking, and night walk. Met guests from other lodges in osa/drake bay, and none were as pleased with their guides. Marlon is incredible. 2. Josue. Josue is the primary driver. Not only will he safely drive you over steep, rocky roads/rivers, but he is the essence of “pura vida”. Talk to him, hear his stories. 3. The staff at Luna lodge. Always smiling, so helpful, beautiful people. 4. Lana. Many of Lana’s employees have worked for her for over ten years. This speaks to the way she treats employees as family. And the environment she has created at Luna Lodge. She has created a beautiful space. All of those quotes on the website are true. Definitely do a morning yoga w her on the yoga platform, even if you’ve never done yoga before. 5. Nature. Everywhere. Wake to howler monkeys and chirping birds, fall asleep to rain and crickets; surround yourself by lush green rainforest; drink coffee looking over tree tops to the ocean. Nourish your soul. Tips: Getting there: Fly to San Jose, then sansa air to puerto jiminez, (get a window seat), and arrange pickup by Luna lodge. Stay: Tent- remote, open, views. Bungalow- luxury eco lodge. Hacienda- enclosed and close to dining, if bugs and stairs aren’t your thing (though then consider not coming to osa) I stayed in the hacienda, which was lovely, But would definitely stay in a tent next time I come (which I will!) Do: tours w Marlon (above); day trip to matapalo (surf lessons, ocean you can swim in, green osa drink and water refill at encanta la vida, waterfall hike and swim); bring your book and spend and afternoon w a glass of wine at the Luna swimming pool (also perfect for a dip after any hot excursion); morning yoga; night stars from yoga deck; walk along ocean near Luna (can’t swim, but so beautiful) Pack: quick dry clothes. A big water bottle to refill. A light for at night. Tennis shoes (do not need hiking boots but do want sturdy shoe) and Tevas (for river crossings/waterfalls). If you’re used to more protein w meals, a bag of nuts/etc. Expect: you will never be dry. There will be bugs- you’re in the rainforest. Travelled as solo female and felt incredibly safe. Go now! They are in the process of making the road a paved road, which will mean more tourists, etc. Go while still remote and wild!

It is one of the most amazing places in CR. A briljant adventure to get there, a warm heart to welcome you. Nature at its best and purest. The silence of the nature will embrace you. In one word Wowwwwww
