Travelers' Choice
Secluded in the tropical rain forest bordering Corcovado National Park, Luna Lodge is a unique resort described by many as "...a piece of true paradise". Its appeal is, not only, its natural beauty and environment, where the heliconia hang three feet long, and the howler monkeys wake you in the morning, but also, its ambiance. The owners' passion for the preservation of the forest is ever present, and the attentive courtesy, friendly staff always serve "con mucho gusto... with pleasure".

This is a perfect place. Really of the beaten track and literally in the middle of the jungle of Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. Away of literally everything. around 2 hours away from Puerto Jimenez and around 20 minutes from the closest settlement of Carate. We hired a driver from the hotel, who was also driving us around for tours etc. Joshua was professional and always sharing couple of details about local life and flora and fauna. Checked in by the owner of the hotel - Lana, who is really in love with her place and the nature around. We stayed in a hacienda room, which actually resembles a normal hotel room and were happy with a choice. Hammock outside provided a great chill out throughout the day when we were not going into the jungle. Room itself is quite basic with 2 twin beds and all the basics that you may need. Hotel is fully running on solar power, and amenities are in accordance to this. No complaints though. You got to really appreciate the way the place is run in general. Super nature and environment friendly. It is an all inclusive property (aside of drinks), as there are literally no shops around. We were a bit worried about that and bought some food in Puerto Jimenez just in case we get hungry. We left it all in hotel as the meals were super tasty and plenty. The amazing thing is that large proportion of food is literally coming from the garden located on site. Everything super healthy and tasty. Hats off to the chef! The way hotel is run is really prompting you to get closer to nature. Yoga classes on an amazing yoga platform with majestic view, sustainability and care for environment wherever you turn. Just splendid and shows how the local people care about the place they live. We stayed 9 nights, although it seems that majority of guests were staying less. I would really suggest that you spend some time in this hotel. It is far more then a lodge, its a state of mind! Lastly, all the stuff is great. Special thanks to Lana and Raquel, who were the gems when organising tours and walks. Also the local animal, dog, named Osa for providing a lot of fun while in restaurant/lobby :) The only little complaint, that I would have is one guide that we had - Marlon. He was very knowledgable on local fauna, but weirdly enough was kinda moody in the mornings :) Otherwise, I could not recommend this place more.

We had a spectacular time at Luna Lodge. We were so sad to leave. It is a wonderful place, nestled in a valley, overlooking the ocean through forested mountainsides. We've never seen anything more spectacular in our lives. Honestly. The food is good but not sensational. You need to be ready to go simple. However, the staff are gracious and kind and tried their very best to accommodate us. The yoga platform is sublime. But if you can do your own practice, this might be better than the classes they offer. We thought the morning class was included in the fee, but it is 25 USD per person, which is very expensive. And the class resulted in stretches that were too intense and injured one person in our party. But these are not the reason to go. Go for the closeness to nature. Go for the beautiful views, the beach, the rustle of the trees. It is marvelous. We are already saving our pennies for our next trip.

The entire time I was there, I kept trying to figure out how someone, anyone, could dream up and carve out this magical place from the ribs of the Corcodavo jungles. Two hours past Puerto Jimenez, a dirt road winds further and further up the hillside, back and forth across river beds, until you arrive at this oasis, greeted by the friendly staff with a humble glass of water. I was hoping to meet "Lana", the visionary of this Labor of Love, but she was away at the Envision Festival. In her place, "Mom" (Lana's mother), was the most gracious hostess I have had the pleasure of spending time with. Despite the remoteness of the location, we did not want for a single thing. Meals were wonderful and expertly served by long time servers who seemed more like family than employees. The beaches below Luna Lodge are the most pristine and spectacular I have ever seen. (I live on the Monterey Bay in California, so I am a tough customer!) If you have a good 4 x 4 vehicle, the road there is an adventure (my son's favorite part of the trip). For a less confident driver, I would suggest arranging a pick up from the hotel from the beach. My son lives in Costa Rica and we have traveled to many locations, but we all agree that Luna Lodge has been our favorite to date. I could continue on about how wonderful the place is, but I will simply say: GO!

Thank you Lana and her mum for their warm welcome in their remoted and wonderful paradise! A great moment spent in this lodge where everything is connected to a luxuriant primary forest and where the only noise is due to the multiple colourful birds and monkeys! Deserve compliment for the quality of the food and special thanks to Eric the guide who allowed us to observe the flora and fauna of The Corcovado Parc.

At the end of a rough road from Puerto Jimenez and then an additional 12-15 min straight up (dont try if you don’t have a 4*4) quite secluded in a valley just outside the Corcovado National Park For me the best thing was the extremely nice staff and some of the expeditions...the worst was the pricing...125 usd for a massage and +300 usd for a tent is simply too high (just 2 examples) Compared to the “full jungle experience” in the Amazonas this place is a distance second-but for visitors who have never experienced nature this close up and wants to have a high level of comfort this is probably it
