We decided to drive to the Finca and the trip was the start of an amazing experience. The road was ruff and we drove through rivers, which was really exciting. The wildlife & nature scenes, we saw on the way was already amazing. The Finca is nestled in nature, without disturbing it. It's living in harmony with your surrounding. The cabins are comfortable and open so you feel like your one with the Jungle. Just hanging out at the Finca we saw many animals very close for good pictures and some interaction. The food was healthy and very tasty, we enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner and watched the sunset from the deck. On the trip to the National Park we saw more animals, some we would have missed if our guide from the Lodge would not have pointed them out. It was a long day and we were tired. The Thai Yoga Massage and Yoga brought our energy back and when we left, I think we changed a little. It was an amazing time and I can't wait to go back. If you want to connect with nature, it's the perfect place. I felt safe from covit there, everything was outside and clean.

We were only able to stay for a few days. We enjoyed the Yoga classes. The food was great. We had great Dinners and great Breakfasts. We love the Costa Rican Coffee. We also really enjoyed meeting the other nice people that stayed there. We look forward to returning there soon.

This solo trip was the perfect answer to a long long year dealing with the pandemic as a healthcare worker in a hospital. The past year had drained me of personal energy. I had stayed one night here in the past which was incredible but far too short, so I booked four nights in one of the tiki glamping tents. I wish I could have stayed for 2 months, but these four nights restored my humanity and my sanity. From the amazing food (I strongly recommend including the meal plan in your reservations), to the warm and friendly staff and fellow travelers, to my primary reason for coming to the end of this road - immersion with nature and wildlife... This was a wonderful experience! I took a guided hike with a naturalist and two other travelers into Corcovado National park. Even though we barely scratched the surface of the park in our 6-hour hike, we saw a lot of amazing wildlife (a sloth, monkeys, a poison dart frog, and a few birds of prey to name a few)! Finca Exotica made all the arrangements. I look forward to coming back 🌴

The staff at Finca Exotica are some of the best in the business. What a lovely property with the most beautiful flowers and welcoming staff. I loved waking up in my tent with the sound of the ocean, and hearing the lapas fly by. It is truly a hidden gem that I want to keep all to myself. Do yourself a favor and come experience the magic that is Finca Exotica.

There’s a few caveats from the hosts on the website of Finca Exotica about what to expect (and what not to expect) if you chose to stay in their bit of paradise on the Osa Pensinula. What we found was a pot of 24 carat gold at the end of this Costa Rican rainbow. Here some impressions about our stay. Getting there by car from Puerto Jimenez is a mild challenge (and does require a 4 x 4). The last 40 odd kilometres of the road is rough and potholed and takes a coupe of hours, but if you focus on the environment you are traversing, it’s a good introduction to the jungle, still interspersed with a few cattle farms. Once you have arrived at base camp in Carate, the undoubted payoff for this part of the adventure is glorious isolation, a complete shedding of 21st century clamour. The resort is invisible on arrival, the buildings hidden away in the jungle on the sides of the mountain. Intelligently and respectfully designed and built by owners Markus and Gabriella, the different buildings are reached by paths threading their way across small streams and on up through the permaculture gardens; some buildings towards the top of the mountain are good exercise to reach and will get your heart pumping. The reward is an exhilarating view across the jungle slope below to the Pacific Ocean, the roar of the surf still audible high up the mountain as the basso profundo to the singing of the macaws and toucans. The meals are a masterclass in nutritious cookery, led by Gabriella and her dedicated team; well balanced, inventive, delicious. You may come away inspired as we were to take menu ideas back home to try. All meals are served in the restaurant, open sided like all the accommodations with the magnificent views across the Pacific. They have created a cordial and inspirational space where you can interact with other guests or sit quietly on the deck in your own company. We surfed in what seemed like our own private ocean, the coastline stretching to infinity in either direction, and we trekked into the OSA jungle with Laura as our guide. She is part of the Finca Exotica team, and in addition to her formal local guide qualifications, has an unerring instinct for finding wildlife for photo hungry trekkers. And we were greatly impressed with the holistic massage therapy we had the following day. Several times we requested early morning yoga sessions (with expert Maurizio) on the yoga platform. It’s no hyperbole to say that this must be the most beautiful and perfect place on the planet to do yoga. Beautiful, peaceful, inspirational, relaxing, restorative, adventurous, challenging, and consistently charming service from everyone at this piece of paradise. It could well be the most rewarding holiday you will ever have.
