Pandemic times require local Travel. My wife and I are Costaricans who live in Costa Rica but we usually take Cruise Vacations sailing from Miami because all inclusive hotel fares used to be very expensive in our own country. But in the absence of international visitors, most Costarican hotels have offered better prices to attract local tourists, somewhere between 30% and 50% off. That gave us the opportunity to visit this beautiful resort, which is something we’ve never seen before. Every Bongalow, walk path, restaurant, office, etc, was built as part of this exotic jungle, respecting every inch of nature, almost as if the resort was part of the jungle. And 5 steps away ... The Beach ! We saw tall trees, vegetation, colors and the sound of animals very close which sometimes showed up at the pool, walk paths, trees. I’m not a biologist but It was like being in the movie Avatar where you see unusual variation of species. The staff have been wonderful, always making sure that you are comfortable and taking care of all your needs. Always going the extra step to make your stay special. This place is a paradise for nature lovers and the food is great !! If you only like to be in first class accommodations, this is more like clean, comfortable and ecological ... but not fancy style. Best Regards

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Ylang Ylang. We stayed in a private cottage which was charming, clean and just as pictured on the website. The outdoor shower was a fun touch (though an indoor shower was available). We also took advantage of a yoga class, and the instructor was excellent, though the class was $15 and not included in the resort price as I had expected. Breakfast and Dinner menus were limited, if we had stayed more than 3 days we would have gone elsewhere for dinner, but the food was good and healthy. Mixed drinks were very overpriced for the quality but the wine list was good. The highlight was absolutely the view from the outdoor dining area which was just incredible! The staff was very friendly, and getting to the hotel was not difficult, they arranged beforehand to meet us at a designated time (we picked) at a restaurant in the town in order to drive us out since personal vehicles aren't allowed on the beach. We were also able to walk to town quite easily though, it was about a 20 min walk along the beach or alternatively along the road (some of the living areas along the road were a bit run down and disreputable looking so we preferred the beach). A small waterfall hike is available within walking distance along the beach as well. The beach itself was incredibly beautiful but not good for swimming at all as the waves were quite violent and there were lots of large rocks. We tried the swimming pool one afternoon, which was also quite picturesque and a decent size. Overall we would highly recommend Montezuma and Ylang Ylang, it was without doubt the most beautiful place we stayed in Costa Rica!

Just returned from a beautiful trip to this amazing resort. It is a beautiful setting right on ther beach. We stayed in one of the domes. The spa was a wonderful treat with hot stones and facial. If you are going up to the spa wear tennis shoes. It's steep and the way down is a bit difficult. It would be best if they built a real path. Also a negative is no bathroom at the spa so be prepared. The wifi is great here. Even at the beach and on your patio no problems. The food is very good and dinner is amazing. If you have mobility issues I'd suggest the domes. Dome 1 is closest to the pool, restaurant, reception. There are no room phones or televisions. The pool is very nice but is deep at the end by the steps. The shallow end is by the waterfall. Make sure you have a way to contact them when you arrive as it is a long walk from parking lot to reception. They will pick you up.

Thank you for your wonderful review! We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. We also appreciate your feedback. We will be doing some maintenance work on the spa area and will certainly take your suggestions. Most guests arrive to our sister hotel, El Sano Banano and the reception there calls our front desk to pick you up, but we do ask guests to give us an approximate arrival time so that our vehicle is available for your pick up. We hope to welcome you back again someday! Thank you. Sincerely, Moraya and Emma Iacono

Had a wonderful time at Ylang Ylang. The atmosphere is both jungle and beach. The various Domes, rooms and cabins were spaced well apart and each felt private. The food was good and the staff provided excellent attentive service. The spa was excellent. Short walk to the town.
