We stayed at Luz de Mono for one night and wish we had stayed longer. The family that runs the place were very helpful and seemed like genuinely nice people. We made a error in our dates and booked one more night than needed. From the cancellation policy from our booking they could have easily said "too bad" but when...

This hotel is located in a huge jungle garden with lots of wildlife. We saw Cappuchin monkeys, Agouti, Iguanas and heard Howler monkeys. We stayed in one of the ground floor private rooms. The room was basic but clean, with hot water. The best part of this hotel was the pool with resident iguana called Jorge. We relaxed around the...

Inside all the action but feels outside. Comfortable bungalow in the jungle with air conditioning and TV. Porch with hammock, teaming with wildlife, safe and secure feeling. Locked my keys in the car and killed my battery and what normally would have been an act of Congress, the staff got it done with great inginuity. Reasonable rates with awesome breakfast...

We are a young couple traveling relatively cheap. Pros: the hotel grounds are amazing. It feels like you're in the middle of a rainforest, even though you are meters away from the town. The pool is refreshing. It's only 2 minutes away from the (nicer) beach in town and 3 minutes from the main area with restaurants and bars and...

Just returned from a week long trip to Montezuma and stayed one night at Luz de Mono and loved it. I was travelling alone and felt welcome and safe at all times while staying there. Everything about my stay was perfect. I had emailed to make a reservation and they responded promptly to all questions that I had. The girls...

Saw at least 10 different species of wildlife in surrounding gardens. The room was super clean even with the beach so close to the property. Loved having a satisfying breakfast with an audience of monkeys and then heading to the beach for a refreshing swim. Returned to an outdoor shower and a dip in the pool with more exotic wildlife...

The staff here are wonderful and very attentive to their customers' needs. My wife and I had a casita up the hill from the reception desk which gave us a good deal of privacy and even gave us the opportunity to see capucine and howler monkeys outside our cabin in the morning. Breakfast was the typical Costa Rican breakfast, but...

This was my second time staying at this property. It is a great value for the price. Lora and the rest of the staff are friendly and informative. Luz do Mono is just outside of town thus quiet at night but a short to restaurants. We will be back.

Luz de Mono was a nice place. I wouldn't go so far to say it was fantastic, but for what you paid, it gave good value. It was great listening to the howler monkeys and all the jungle sounds. Basically, all the windows are screened .. and there is no AC. But the fan helped keep things a bit cool....

Fun jungle experience. Even the 5am wakeup from the howler monkeys outside the windows was an adventure. But with air temperatures in the 90's and "feels-like" temps above 100 degrees, it was uncomfortable sleeping without air conditioning.
