Detailed Reviews
Our family of two adults and two kids stayed in this hotel for three nights. We had a large room with two double beds, a separate wardrobe area with a small sink and a fridge. As the window of the room faced a patio area, the room was very dark even on a sunny day. Probably the rooms on higher floors had more natural light.
One thing that disturbed us a lot during our stay was bad smell from the bathroom. It seemed to come from the shower drain as the water from the shower did not drain very well.
The hotel has a closed parking garage for the guests who have a rental car.
There are two pools at the hotel, a smaller quieter pool up not far from the reception and the main pool that was not far from our room. The pool is very nice, the sunbeds are comfortable. We loved the afternoons by the pool, after hiking the whole morning. Even the hotel is good for animal spotting - we saw toucans, red macaws and capuchin monkeys around the pool and many other birds we could not name.
Within a short walking distance from hotel are several places to eat and some supermarkets. The beach, though, is pretty far and reachable either by car or by bus.
The breakfast is more or less the same every day and pretty basic, it could have been nice to have a bit more variety.
Our family liked this hotel and we would definitely recommend it, it was just the smelly bathroom that ruined the stay for us a little bit.

Room Tip: Our room, 310, was on the lowest level. Very nice access to the main pool, but a bit too dark.

Situated on the road above the Pacific, the rooms are very big, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom floor does need redoing, but the two sinks in the bathroom and refrigerator, as well as the size of the rooms made for a ver nice stay. Grounds are lush and pool is nice. There are a lot of steps, so that may be a factor for some people

We enjoyed three night stay as part of a tour in a large, comfortable room with air conditioning and ceiling fans - a must at this time of year . Two queen beds and a fridge are also much appreciated .Nice bathrooms and helpful staff- one of whom showed us toucans outside the property! Pools and garden areas make a nice setting although steps may be difficult for some. Highly recommend.

+1
Set back out of the beach area, a taxi/bus is essential to get to and from this hotel. However, it is well appointed and has nice bar area, pool and pool facilities and well appointed rooms. The staff are helpful, which is essential if needing to move heavy bags around the undulating terrain and up stairs to access some rooms. A nice hotel that meets all needs and recommended.

Great location. Clean, well-maintained rooms. Best staff!!! We would give the staff more than 5 stars if we could.
Wendy, at the reception, made sure that all our needs were met from the time we checked-in until we left. My friend said that Wendy's genuineness and pleasant disposition made her feel immediately at home at the hotel. She also provided us with excellent concierge service by helping us schedule a rafting trip. On our last day, she helped us print out or COVID test results and personally delivering it to us at the restaurant during breakfast instead of us walking to reception. She went over and beyond her responsibility when she noticed that my result was blurry when she printed it out. (the lab sent my result in jpeg not pdf like what my friends got). Wendy called the lab which was in Jaco and got me a pdf copy of my results. She sent me the pdf file and reprinted it and personally delivered it again to me. I travel a lot but I rarely see this kind of dedication to customer service.
Will, the bartender, was also exceptional. He made sure we always had a good time. Since he lived near the hotel, he told us great stories about local life in their area and gave us good recommendations. He was very patient and respectful as we were starting to feel the effects of Cacique. ;) He made sure we got back to our rooms safely.
As for the hotel, the common areas were well kept. Nature was beautifully incorporated in the landscape so it felt like you were in a sanctuary where you can sit and meditate in peace. It was relaxing. The rooms were spacious and very clean.
Our overall experience at this hotel was excellent.
Also, the location is walking distance to El Lagarto restaurant where you can eat and drink with beautiful sunset views.

Good location just outside Manuel Antonio National Park and is walking distance to some good restaurants. The reception area was a little underwhelming but we slowly warmed to the hotel. Despite being full the hotel never seemed over busy except at breakfast over the weekend. The food was adequate but breakfast was repetitive with only scrambled eggs available, no fried or omelets also it was self service. There was the usual rice and beans, plantain and hash browns. Happy hour was a bonus between 5-7pm and was never busy. The pool was like a bath and nicely set amongst the foliage was was open until 10.00pm at night so it was popular for a dip before bed. During the morning the pool was very quiet as people were mostly out on activities. We can recommend the the guided tour at the park and the hotel organised this for us. The bedroom had two large beds which was also a bonus since it was so hot there. The air con was very effective and there were also ceiling fans. The hotel does leave pots for tips in several places which was a bit in your face and we didn't experience this in the other locations we stayed at. If you want to leave a gratuity don't add it to the bill it's better to put it in the pot. Dollars are widely accepted in Costa Rica, in fact we never had any local currency.

I had a great experience at Villas Lirio. The main building (restaurant and bar) is all made of beautiful dark wood and reminds me of vintage glamour of the early PanAM airlines posters (weird reference I know). The courtyard also has a massive old tree in it which reminds us that we are guests of nature.
The restaurant was nearly empty when we went which was surprising because the food was delicious and our server was so attentive and friendly and fun (we had a group hug even!)
The rooms are super comfortable with everything you might need, comfy beds, tons of pillows, dark shades, silent AC, HOT WATER (YAY!!!! after spending time in places without hot water) and soft linens.
The only tricky part about the hotel is the parking, there is parking but it's on a kind of steep grade and then garage is a little tough to get in and out of, but the staff was super helpful in directing me so it all worked out just fine.
Across the street you can hop on the bus which passes ever 15 minutes to the beach at Manuel Antonio, so you don't need to move your car once you're there.
I didn't have a chance to go in the pool but it's a nice option to have.

We stayed 5 nights at the hotel Lirio. We had 2 rooms for the first 3 nights as we were part of a group, and then another room for a further 2 nights. All rooms were clean and comfortable, with air conditioning, and were spacious with 2 double beds, desk, comfortable chairs, wardrobe, safe etc and an en-suite shower room. Additional towels were provided for the pool/beach and could be exchanged for clean ones whenever required. Breakfast was good. Lunch and dinner were also available at the hotel restaurant, the menu included both American and local cuisine. 2 swimming pools were clean and open throughout the day. The hotel buildings surround a garden of mature trees and shrubs which provides shade and there are lots of covered seating areas where you can relax. The reception staff were very helpful and accommodated our requests, such as requesting a particular room for the second half of our stay that had a private balcony and views of the sunset over the Pacific. The hotel is located on the busy coast road, and there are restaurants and shops within a short walk. The beach is a short bus ride away. We really enjoyed our stay here.

The hotel has lush green plantings and a nice pool area, if you ignore the scattered used glasses and plates that sit for hours. The restaurant is pleasant and airy with a breakfast menu rather than buffet. A big let down was that the rooms are very dark with minimal natural light penetrating. I asked several other guests who said their rooms were also dark. The wifi signal was good, only cutting out during the short blackouts that occurred three times in the three days we were there.

I would message the hotel and ask- the front desk staff are very helpful and accommodating. One morning our tour picked us up before breakfast was being served. The waitress convinced the kitchen staff to pack us ham & cheese sandwiches and fresh fruit in paper bags to go- so kind of them.
If you don’t drive you can take public bus, which under the current circumstances (COVID-19 ) I don’t recommend. But if you feel like it you can, although you will have to take taxi from SJO airport to San Jose downtown to Tracopa Bus Station, that is the name of public bus service.
The other option, which I do recommend is to use the interbusonline
Is better than public transportation and cheaper than taxi.
The hotel is beautiful but you will have to walk or take taxi to visit the national park or go to the most popular beaches since is not close to them.
Hello Alan n Mary,
