This was our last stop on our 3-location tour of Costa Rica. Don't let the wild ride down to the welcome pavilion and the wildER ride on the golf cart to the hotel. The grounds are immaculate, the room was comfortable (a bit small but we knew that), the food was very good, and the staff was amazing! There was a lot to do on the property (daily activities plus swimming, beach activities, hiking and more). The mini-bar snacks and drinks are included DAILY so take advantage of the local sodas and other items in the fridge. Beware of food or anything else left on the balcony as "the mafia" monkeys will get it! Highly recommend for a truly luxurious stay on the beach.
Arenas del Mar is the best complete hotel experience in Costa Rica. The hotel is ideally located on property facing the ocean, surrounded by the jungle, and with access to the beach. The rooms are well design meeting a perfect balance between luxury and sustainability. Out suite had comfortable beds with top-of-the-line sheets and towels, a beautiful balcony with an outdoor jacuzzi, and 180-degree ocean views. Complimentary: tico-bar with beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks, and snacks, laundry, and activities at no extra charge. Local and international calls are free of charge. We took the Sustainability Tour and were very impressed about all the effort and commitment of Cayuga Collection and Arenas del Mar to maintain this balance between Luxury, Hotel, Community, and Environment. The staff: friendly and professional, every person we met appeared to feel proud to be a part of this hotel. The quality of the food, the services, and all the vacation experiences was outstanding. Since the day we arrived in Arenas del Mar, all the staff ensured to provide the best experience ever. Excellent chefs and staff guarantee a whole gastronomic experience every time we ate there. When you get to Arenas del Mar, you forget that the rest of the world exists, and this paradise melts into your soul. The hotel offers a shuttle to the national park, Quepos, and surrounding areas for a low fee. The hotel can also arrange transportation from the airport and to the hotel. Directors of Operations, managers, drivers, housekeepers, front desk, restaurant and barternders, and all staff work as team members, and make sure your vacation is a complete success. We will be back!…
Just stayed here for 3 night late with our family and had an amazing time. We loved the small size of this resort- there are only 37 rooms and so it felt almost private at times as we were by ourselves at the pools, restaurants and the beach. That being said, it has all the amenities of a bigger resort. The room was wonderful and very comfortable for the 4 of us with a great view. Saw lots of wildlife on property (monkeys, lizards, sloths, toucans). Food was really good as well but the best thing about this place was the people. They were so, so friendly and always being super accommodating with everything we needed. Highly recommend!
I spent 4 nights in Arenas Del Mar with my dad from 3 to 7 July 2022. Both of us were overwhelmed by the breath-taking beauty of the views from our rooms, the quality of the rooms and of the food and the kindness and high professionalism of the hotel staff. In the rooms, there is a walk-in shower with premium quality shower gel, hand wash, shampoo and body lotion, the most comfortable bed I had ever slept in. We opened both windows (fitted with mosquito nets) and never switched on the fan or air conditioning. A robe, a coffee-maker with a filter, a kettle, free Costa Rican coffee, free tea, free milk , cold water in a jug, sweets, fruit and nuts (in the fridge) came in very handy. The hotel staff is exceptional, very well trained, welcoming, polite, friendly and helpful. Minivan drivers Alex and Jorge, golf cart drivers Alex (the smile that never leaves your face is irresistible and brightens up everyone’s day), Farlen, Rafael, Lauriel, restaurant cook Juergen, waiters Walter, Karla and César, concierges Elizabeth and Jorge, tour guide Mauricio (hugely competent and resourceful – ask for Mauricio if you want a private tour in the Manuel Antonio National Park) and service coordinator Derian – you are all superstars!!! Thinking of you brings tears to my eyes, just as on our last day. We will definitely be back, if not at the end of the year, next summer for sure. Arenas Del Mar is paradise on earth and is worth every penny! No point in looking elsewhere. A big thank you!!!…
Absolutely fabulous - it was truly the best to stay here at this gorgeous place, with wonderful staff taking care of us, delicious food all day, relaxing and amazing ocean and wildlife views. The sloths, the monkeys, iguanas, yoga, kids movie night, knowledgeable guides, and staff who arranged everything we needed. From here we took marvelous family day trips from Arenas Del Mar, in between stunning ocean beach and pool visits. Parasailing, rainforest zip lining with Amigos Del Rio, waterfall hike to Nauyaca were highlights. We have already recommended to friends and family that they should come witness the beauty and special experience of this eco resort. And worth noting — 100% welcoming for our LGBT family.
Arenas del Mar is a jewel. The staff care about guests and made our stay wonderful. The views from our ocean view room were so fantastic. Much wildlife to see, sloths, monkeys, etc. Beach very nice. Playitas bar also nice. Breakfast each morning with the gorgeous view was awesome, and food great. Special thanks for Jorge, Nelson, Farlen, Brian, Alexander and Maria Theresa. There is so much to do in the area, this makes a great base. Thank you!!
This was the second leg of our Costa Rica trip and Arenas Del Mar was great. The rooms are nicely appointed yet comfortable. Very clean and well kept. Nice surprise: laundry service is FREE! And we needed it after the previous week in the rain forest. There is a semi private small beach which is lovely and fun, They also have a bar there at the beach and will serve you drinks and some food. There is also a larger beach (different access which you can walk for over a mile and access the Manuel Antonio Reserve Park. All kinds of things to do along there, including horseback riding, surfing lessons, paddle boarding lessons/rental. Some locals may have things for sale but none were at all pushy. Over all this hotel has great friendly staff and really good food. We would visit agin. Oh! Forgot to mention the bed and linens were AWESOME in the main bedroom. The second bed (converted futon-type couch in the living area) was fine and also had great linens.…
Stayed here with our family of 4 (tween and teen) over spring break and could not have been happier. The property is beautiful with steep winding paths that run right through the jungle that is teeming with wildlife (we saw monkeys within 5 minutes of our arrival). The view is spectacular and the ability to walk down to the beach in Manuel Antonio is really unique. But it’s really the kind, cheerful, and attentive staff that makes this place so special. They run a very tight ship with service and it seemed everyone was prepped of our very next move before we even made it. The golf cart drivers knew our names after the first day. The staff jumped through hoops to make sure we were well cared for. The nature guides (we had Maria) were amazing, so friendly and informative. My only small, small suggestion is that the rooms could have a little more color for visual interest. Our room was white on white and there is such vibrancy in the Costa Rican style that I think it would be lovely to showcase it in the rooms. But that is a small thing in a nearly perfect stay. Overall, fabulous property and you will not regret staying here.…
My family and I just returned from the most AMAZING vacation ever!! We had never been to Costa Rica so we didn't really know what to expect. We frequent the Bahamas and Florida Keys, but Arenas Del Mar is unbelievable! There was 11 people total in our group. When we arrived at the San Jose airport, a Mercedes Van was waiting to transport us to the hotel. We walked into the open air lobby and were immediately handed welcome drinks - the rooms are spotless and set up great for families. There is so much attention to detail at this resort that it is mind-blowing! The beaches, walking paths and entire property is paradise! I felt as if I was living in a fantasy world- we saw toucans, sloths, monkeys and many other animals every day. One of the things that makes this resort "the best" is the staff! We felt like family when the week was over. They have so much knowledge about the area that it was fun to be able to just talk with them and learn the Costa Rica way of life. Nelson, Karla, Alexandra, Brian all waited on us during our trip. You can tell they love their job and they will do anything to accommodate whatever you need. Anytime we needed to book an adventure or excursion, Nadia and the people at the front desk were awesome. They made everything so simple. The lifeguard played soccer and volleyball with the kids on the beach. Miguel (the chef) cooked Tuna that we caught and it was soooo delicious. All the fruit, juices, every meal we ate was so fresh and so many options for people with certain dietary needs as well. Farland was one of the golf cart drivers and he learned all 11 of our names by the 2nd day! There is so many activities offered on the property as well- they have yoga, surfing, volleyball, bingo, tortilla making, movie night, dinners on the beach with live music. I can honestly say that I can't think of one negative thing I could say about Arenas Del Mar. My family and I hope to visit every year going forward. BEST Vacay ever :)…
What an amazing experience! I have been to the Florida Keys, Bahamas and other tropical locations and NOTHING compared to this! To start, the facilities, rooms, beaches, pools and community areas are manicured to perfection. We saw toucans, white faced monkeys, howler monkeys, sloths and many other animals on the resort grounds. The people make the place though. Nadia at the front was so generous with my children and assisted in booking many excursions. Alexandra, Karla, Nelson and every other person that waited on us for our meals was outstanding. Miquel cooked some tuna for us that we caught and it was cooked to perfection. One evening while we were eating dinner, the gentlemen at the front desk noticed the kids getting anxious and he put on a movie for them. We didn’t ask him to do it but it was exactly what we needed. The kids sat in an AC room to watch a movie while the adults in the group finished up but we were still in eye sight of them. One of the gentlemen( I think his name is Farland) learned all of our names (there was 11 of us) and he was always making us laugh. There is a beach where you can rent surf boards or get lessons that was very convenient. We rented the boards but the guy came out to give us some pointers. They offer a night walk that we wanted to do, but never could make that happen. This trip was easily the best vacation I have ever been on and I hope to return next year!…
