Nestled between beach and jungle, Tulemar Resort is celebrated for its stunning setting and luxurious amenities, including a private beach and opportunities for wildlife encounters. While opinions on the value proposition vary, with some guests finding it overpriced, many feel the location and services justify the expense. The rooms are generally well-regarded for being clean and spacious, even though a few guests find the decor a tad dated. The service, particularly by concierges like Orlando, Brian, and Laura, is frequently lauded for its personal touch and efficiency.

My wife and I enjoyed 5 fabulous days at Tulemar. The car never moved. The resort is very beautiful and very well maintained. The staff are all incredible. The private beach is a serious draw. We visited every day. We dined at Tulecafe one evening and the food was excellent. Our room was very comfortable but showed signs of ageing. The bathroom, furniture and lighting are very dated. I believe that a refurbishment program is currently underway. A special unsolicited shout out to our facilitator / concierge. Miguel was a true ambassador for the resort. Thank you for your support during our stay.

We loved Tulemar last February and decided to bring our family for two weeks recently. The service was great… especially loved Moses our shuttle driver and our housekeeping service! My only complaint was the heat at this beautiful house. The upstairs family room and kitchen was almost unbearable this year. Thank goodness the bedrooms were air-conditioned! (Spoiled and not used to this humidity) I did not know to ask if all was air-conditioned as our smaller place was last summer! Our concierge did bring us a small fan to add to the ceiling fans but, late afternoon we were in the pool by our house which helped. Please ask about air-conditioning …unless you want to SWEAT!! Children loved all of the monkeys and sloths right by our house and the beach which is so close!

The Tulemar Resort and Beach is an awesome layout in a beautiful jungle location with its own beach. We have stayed at Si Como No and Gaia and all three places are excellent. The service at Tulemar is fantastic! Our concierge Alex is a kind, caring, and very attentive person with a sparkling personality and deep concern about our comfort and wellbeing. The wait staff is also outstanding! So many people we shall never forget: Jose, Diego, Jeudy, Simon, Daniel, and many others became our friends over the course of our eight days. We can never say enough about the amazing staff. Our shuttle crew — Milton, Axel, and others, — is kind, caring, and excellent drivers. The restaurant is excellent in every way! Outstanding meals with excellent quality and diversity of selections. And the views are breathtaking with spectacular sunsets! The biggest drawback to Tulemar is navigating the terrain and walks. We are in our 70s and in excellent shape but the walks from our unit to the restaurant were long, steep, and in the rain, slippery. If you are at all infirm or limited in mobility, Tulemar is a challenge.

Thank you TPMedia21 for your review, Glad you enjoyed the service and the views. The views are due to the extreme topography. We do our best to enable guests to only have to walk down, but obviously it's not possible all the time. Pura Vida, Chris at TripAdvisor's 2022 #1 Hotel in the World

What you see in the descriptions and reviews is what you get. We’ve been staying yearly at Tulemar since 2017 (except during the pandemic) and there are so many reasons to keep returning. Where else can you sleep with your windows open and hear howler monkeys and wood rails? Where else can you be greeted by sloths right outside your door or monkeys on your roof or less charmingly your balcony? We need to come back next year to see how the macaws and their new family are doing right by the Tule Cafe. Orlando has been with us every step of the way. He is truly special and every year his kindness overwhelms us. Going above and beyond does not begin to describe his efforts. We rely on his expertise and he never disappoints. From whom else would you hear the fine detail of asking for cushions at an offsite restaurant so that you are more comfortable? He sends on us tours and to places that he knows will be good and always asks for feedback so that he can learn for others. We’ve stayed in bungalows all over the property and each has its own characteristics. We used to go to a morning workout at one of the local gyms but this year the hill climbing because of our bungalow location made that unnecessary. It was a good enough workout getting to and from the pool and on our nature walks. Pura Vida to all at Tulemar, including the kind rescue and conservation efforts of onsite Sloth Institute. We thank you once again for allowing us to escape our brutal Canadian ice and snow winter.

Our chef David, and his server Sebastian, hired through Wow Chef, was absolutely fantastic. They prepared the most wonderful traditional Costa Rican meal, and it was hands down the best food we had in Quepos. Lovely personalities, great conversation, and just all around the highlight of trip!

This is our third trip to Tulemar and also our third stay in a Bamboo villa. We really enjoyed our time-Costa Rica is gorgeous and the views from the villa cannot be beat-we often chose to stay in the villa for the day, simply because the convenience and comfort wasn’t worth leaving. Brian, our concierge has been with us for each of our three trips over the course of the last five years. He’s a big reason why we keep coming back-I know that from the moment I book, he’s going to check in, arranging our transportation, offering many options for things to do, and even helping us make dinner reservations. I’m convinced we get a better table when Brian makes the call! He checks in on us daily just to make sure everything is perfect and whenever we need help, he’s there at a moment’s notice. We will miss our morning coffee with the macaws and sunsets with the monkeys. Until next time! General feedback for the villa owners-bath towels could use a refresh!

We stayed at Tulemar Resort for a week with our two boys and I wish we booked for longer! The wildlife was amazing (we saw monkeys, sloths, toucans, macaws, coati, butterflies, hummingbirds, iguanas and more just at the resort). The private beach was absolutely beautiful and being able to order food right there was great. The food was also delicious and so fresh with many healthy options between the on site cafe and restaurants that were recommended (Victoria’s and the falafel place were great!). Room service was also another great option if we wanted to stay in and eat. The pools were refreshing and never crowded (the family pool had an amazing view!). All of the staff and drivers were incredibly friendly and helpful. Thank-you Tulemar for a trip of a lifetime !

A truly exceptional trip at a truly exceptional resort. Our concierge, Laura was outstanding and checked in with us regularly, helping us navigate restaurants and activities. Alex At the beach made sure we had chairs umbrellas and anything else we could possibly need. The villa was beautiful with an incredible view of the Pacific. There’s a great deal of wildlife right on the property! We saw toucans sloths, iguanas, squirrel monkeys, white face monkeys, and incredibly beautiful macaws. Jorge, John Moises were excellent chauffeurs around the property showing up minutes after you called for transportation. I truly cannot say enough about this resort and the people who work there. Look forward to returning. World traveler here, and I have to say it was one of the best vacations I’ve ever taken

Tulemar hit the mark for our family. We wanted a relaxing atmosphere where we could get to know Costa Rica and its beauty. Our family stayed for 6 nights in two different casas. One was close to the lobby with private tree-top views but some early morning road noise. The other was quiet and close to pools but balconies and main room were visible by other units. We would stay at either again. Staff was great about switching us over when we had to make the change. The amenities gave us everything we needed but not too much. If you are looking for 5-star nicest of everything-fancy luxury amenities and interaction with other people who want that, this isn’t the place for you. There is no golf crowd or dolled-up women swinging designer purses. The whole resort has a casual, adventure, chill-out and be kind vibe. Common room furniture looks fine but not built for comfort. Beds were very comfortable. Read house/villa descriptions carefully. Resort is built into the hill, so unless you want to wait around for van transport every time you go to the main entrance, pool or beach, you are going to be doing some walking up and down hills with some areas being a very steep incline or lots of stairs. Even at capacity, the resort doesn’t feel overly crowded. I hope this doesn’t change. We dined at the restaurant 8 or so times. Food is decent and the view is great. Trying local establishments was fun. I wish we had done more, but the restaurant is easy. Pools are very clean and never packed. Beach is lovely. We did several adventures including catamaran tour, waterfall tour and zip lining which were all arranged through the concierge. These are vetted through Tulemar, so rest easy. They are very good about selecting companies that value friendliness and safety. The sloth walk activity was A+. The Sloth Institute being housed in the property (although you will never see it) is a great asset. Laura, our concierge, was knowledgeable and attentive. Orlando helped us when Laura was not available. He is delightful as well. The staff genuinely seemed to care that we were enjoying our stay. Staff is top notch all the way around from waiters to house cleaning and van drivers. We had 2 couples, one in their 50’s and one in their 40’s, a recent college grad and a teenager in our party. Everyone loved it. Currently there is construction going on in one part of the resort. We did not hear noise coming from it, so it didn’t bother us other than we hated to see the tree canopy taken down in this area. It is clearly a “highway”for monkeys, sloths and other local creatures who will now need to relocate. The nature experience is why you will enjoy Tulemar. I hope management understands this and doesn’t continue to cut away the forest. They will lose customers if the forest is diminished. There are too many other resorts with beautiful amenities if plants and animals start to decrease. I hope they know their clientele. One more comment about this. We were thrilled that the other patrons were kind and respectful. We never heard loud rude people who were either over-partying or the types who are arrogant and demanding to staff. We all commented that this was the beauty of Tulemar. If we could change one thing, it would be the very long day of travel due to the 3 hour ride from the airport after a non-direct flight.

Thank you Inspire, for your 5 stars and for staying with us at Tulemarresort. Your description of the property is perfect and yes even when there is no vacancy it still feels like you are the only guests. The hills do require effort, but also provide views and the van service is usually very quick to arrive! We are hyper sensitive to the forest around us and since our inception more than 2 decades ago take care to preserve and integrate with it. Finally the "ride" coming the arrival makes it worth it, going proves bitter and creates a longing to come back. We hope to host you again!
