Our family of four just returned from Costa Rica with four nights at Tulemar. We had an outstanding experience. The setting and views from our casa were amazing. Not only great views of the ocean and mountains but it was incredible for viewing wildlife. There were monkeys playing, sloths, tons of exotic birds, even a monkey on our porch! The casas are well cleaned and equipped for a longer stay with pots, pans, oven, etc. with a small grocery store within an easy walk from the resort (or they can stock food for you if you request). Orlando the concierge(?) was literally the most helpful person that I have every dealt with on any vacation - I can't say enough about him and the rest of the friendly crew at the resort. We caught some fish on a charter and wanted to see if the restaurant could cook it for our dinner "sure, no problem, when can we come to your casa to pick it up to take it to the restaurant? How would you like it prepared?". Taxis, shuttles to the beach (it is a steep hill), you name it, these guys are happy to assist. Also, I can't forget to mention the great semi-outdoor showers in our casa. We definitely enjoyed the food at the main resort restaurant Tule Cafe and ordered food to both the beach and one of the pools. We also enjoyed the resort owned Italian restaurant. There are lots of great choices in town as well - we wished we had been able to stay longer to enjoy more of those and hope to make it back to Costa Rica and Tulemar soon!

Hotel's Favorite
This was our 5th stay at Tulemar and each time has been amazing. Over the years we’ve stayed in a variety of different types of villas and they each offer unique benefits. My favorite part of staying at Tulemar is the wildlife that visits daily. The TuleCafe has excellent food and beverages and it’s nice to be able to eat onsite. Be sure to try the Coconut Margarita! Our concierge was Orlando and he did a great job lining up transportation, dinner reservations, recommendations, etc for us. He stayed in touch throughout our stay and was very attentive, but not overbearing. He’s a great guy and went out of his way to make our 25th wedding anniversary special. Thank you for another wonderful stay!!

We rented Casa De Frutas for a week, and it was amazing! Great view of the Pacific and all of the wildlife Tulemar has to offer right from our balcony. The staff was so great. Chris was our concierge and would bend over backward for us with anything we asked. He arranged tours, sloth walks, birding expeditions, paddle boarding, and a catamaran tour before we ever arrived! Dave, the co-owner of Tulemar, was there to greet us when we arrived and would take care of anything we needed. Luckily, we never needed him! The food was delicious, the house was amazing, and the experience was perfect for the entire family. If you go to Costa Rica in the Manuel Antonio area, I highly recommend Tulemar. PS: One of cleaning staff returned $80 of ours that she found in the dryer! That doesn't happen in the US!

Tulemar is truly special. I saw more monkeys and sloths here than I did at the national park. The views from my room were incredible. Orlando went above and beyond in every way possible. The beach is to die for! I cannot think of a single thing that they could have done better.

Our family had a great experience even though the current circumstances of social distancing make for more limited interactions and experiences. The staff was very friendly respectful of distancing and mask wearing at all times which made us feel very safe. Alex at the reception was extremely welcoming as was David down at the beach. David was very accommodating and receptive to everyone needs. He also went out of his way to point out various species to the customers as he noticed them. We saw howler monkeys, titi monkeys (spider monkey)lizards, a small snake and toucan. He offers chairs, towels, umbrellas and boogie boards for everyone at no charge. I am not certain if this is situational or if there is a charge for any of these items but currently they were complimentary. There was a young woman for whom I didn’t get her name at the restaurant who went out of her way to find me to offer me some change for colones to break a larger bill for me when the restaurant didn’t have the change to offer me. It happened to be Sunday therefore the bank was not open. We stayed in a basic bungelow which was pleasant but the bathroom doesn’t have any hooks to hang used towels and the space is tight for the family. I hadn’t realized it was a one bedroom when I made the reservation. Over all we enjoyed our stay, it is in a great location making it walkable to some local restaurants the bank and mini market. We will plan to stay again but will look into renting a villa with more bedrooms. I would like to see more dining options. For such a large facility I was surprise to find there was only one small restaurant. Also with the parameters of social distancing the limited pool occupancy can be an issue we lucked out and got to the pool early both days we wanted to use it, however there were disappointed people. I am not sure how it would compare to full occupancy during a normal season. For this reason I would recommend one of the villas that has a private pool.
