All still container hotel, bolted on the top of each other , on a steep hill, Not for the fainted heart. No elevators. No lock on the balcony Windows. Narrow and tall steps, and lots of them. Clean beds. It is a small makeshift double bed and a sofa that turns into a very uncomfortable bad. Clean but ugly and... More

The Hotel had a few issues regarding the water supply and flushing toilets. To give them credit the problem was dealt with the next morning when the necessary 'part' was bought for the pump. Had to ask for wine glasses for the room and extra towels as only one had been provided. Reception didn't explain about the deposit for the... More

Lovely hotel amazing views! Breakfast is ok. The rooms are clean and fresh great to have to large double beds! All the staff are both polite and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The National park is interesting and the bogie boarding was exhilarating !

This hotel is literally footsteps away from the national park...for this reason I am not totally disappointed with having selected it...having said that-Its rate was not up to par with the quality of the room (walls need paint jobs they were marked up, the fan was blowing some black residue when I turned it on and it was directly over... We chose El Faro based on its proximity to Manuel Antonio Park. It is one of the closest hotels to the park and a very short walk will get you right to the entrance. Being that it is adjacent to the park, there is wildlife everywhere. During our stay, we saw iguanas, monkeys and a sloth from our patio! Our... More

The Hotel is on the top of a hill and it is made of shipping containers, if you are on the top floor the ocean view is excellent. There is a very good reception service, the place is clean and really nice I went with my parents who have a hard time walking up the hill because of health issues... More

The hotels location is great, its right next to the National Park and the beach! The hotel is located on top of a hill, some may not like the little walk but I enjoyed it and if you wish to not walk up there are golf carts available at all times. The drivers are very nice and more than happy... More

The hotel was a little hard to find (in that we were expecting it to be on the main road) however once you turn off the main road (between 2 restaurants) you drive down until you can see it on your left. It is up a VERY, VERY, VERY steep drive, it looks fairly good from the road. As you... More

I've now stayed twice at El Faro and you cannot beat the views! Both the standard rooms and the penthouse suite were amazing. Highly recommend the penthouse suite if you can do it. Just spectacular. Hotel staff was always pleasant and accommodating. Ate at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and loved both. Dinner was on par with a very... More

My husband and I visited this hotel and we were mesmerized with the astonishing view to the Pacific Ocean from both our room and restaurant. However, nothing could have prepared us for walking up the steep hill to our hotel room....IT WAS A LOT! I am in my mid forties and I am a runner and I was sore and... More
