My husband and I traveled to Costa Rica and stayed at Prana Rainforest Retreat with my mother and 5 of our best friends. This place is almost without description it is so magnificent. Secluded and nestled right into the Manuel Antonio Rainforest yet mere minutes away from diverse and unique dining experiences, pristine beaches and a short drive from almost every kind of tour or excursion you could imagine. The property slept all 8 of us in luxurious comfort. The upper level of the villa is a great room with full kitchen, an impressive live edge slab table that could probably seat 12 with no elbow fighting, a small seating nook and a giant sectional seating area. The deck off of the rear of the great room seems to extend out into the jungle where we were entertained by multiple varieties of monkeys, we got to watch Toucans nesting and even got a lightening bug show one night. There is an infinity pool in the center of the 3 upper buildings which provided abundant entertainment and respite from the mid day heat. The lower level took luxury to another level with two bedrooms and the primary bathroom shower opened up directly to a private pool with an outdoor lounging bed and giant concrete soaking tub that extends out over the jungle floor. There is also a 2nd, fully equipped kitchen (which we did not use but was beautiful and had amazing views of the jungle). Each day we had a groundskeeper and housekeeper on-site to refresh the property. Diego was our concierge and he coordinated a wedding cake for us for a vow exchange ceremony we did with our friends on-site. He also coordinated a private chef that cooked fresh, amazing meals for us on days that we selected. There is on-site, energy efficient washer and dryer so you can pack light and do your laundry there. I cannot say enough good things about Mark & Jon and their amazing team or this property. If you want to pamper yourself and have a one-of-a-kind experience (honeymoon or not) this is the place for you.…

Our group of 7 stayed at Prana Rainforest Retreat for 10 days over Christmas and had an amazing time. The house is beautifully unique and we felt like we were in a jungle paradise. The upper area of the property has 3 buildings surrounding a pool - 2 house ensuite king bedrooms, and the 3rd has the kitchen, dining and living areas with outdoor patio. Access to the lower area, where you'll find 2 large bedrooms, 2 shower rooms and another pool, is either via the stairs from the patio or from a separate entrance off the drive. The home provides everyone with privacy while also allowing a huge space for gatherings, both indoors and out. Diego, our concierge, was wonderful. He helped us book several tours and excursions as well as restaurant reservations. He was very responsive and a good sport when we had to reschedule or change the number of particpants a couple of times. Diego took care of everything. There was also daily maid service by Gabby and grounds and pool care by Ken, who were both friendly but not at all intrusive. The entire team was a pleasure. My extended family (7 of us) stayed at Prana Rainforest Retreat for 10 days over Christmas. We were the first people to occupy the "full" property since Mark and Jon opened up the main house as well as the guest house. We couldn't have asked for a better location for our amazing Costa Rica experience. The full house offers 2 pools, an outdoor bathtub, and plenty of sleeping space for the 7 of us. It is beautiful and, as others have mentioned, photos simply don't do the house or the guest house justice. The main house is authentically Costa Rican and has a kitchen, a table that easily seats 10 for meals or games, and relaxation space. But who wants to stay indoors when this house literally backs up to the jungle? We saw toucans, an array of butterflies, insects and reptiles, and loved watching the monkeys making their way through the trees around the property. Diego, concierge for the property, was simply amazing. He worked with us before we arrived to arrange ground transportation and begin recommending excursions. After we arrived, he visited us at the property to be sure everything was in order, and was available at any time on WhatsApp to troubleshoot, recommend excursions or restaurants, and make reservations for us. We never lifted a finger; Diego took care of everything for us! Carlos, chef, made 3 delicious meals. Gabby, housekeeper, was at the house every weekday to clean and even do our laundry if we requested. The main house is not air conditioned but all bedroom areas have A/C. We definitely did not mind lack of A/C in the main house because none of the local shops, restaurants, etc are air conditioned - we felt authentically Costa Rican! Beaches are a close 5-10 minute drive and there is a LOT to do in Manuel Antonio and nearby Quepos. A car is probably a must and I would definitely recommend renting an SUV if possible since streets are narrow, steep, and twisty - but it is very easy to get around the area. We stayed at Prana Rainforest Retreat on our honeymoon. It was the most perfect week. Mark and Jon, our hosts, set us up on incredible excursions (we did a zip line tour, an ATV tour, and a white water rafting adventure), they provided us with three amazing massages, and prepared two delicious meals for us. The house is beautiful! The shower is so lovely and relaxing. There is a private pool that is so relaxing. The waterfall on the property is an excellent spot to clear your mind and relax. Really, the whole place is. There was no stress. We hope to come back in a few years with a group!!

My wife and I chose Prana Retreat for our last stop on our honeymoon. We were blown away by Mark and Jon’s hospitality and the beauty of their property and guest villa. We felt like we were in our own private retreat and we were surrounded my nature and wildlife. We will definitely be returning and Mark went out of his way to help us book excursions, restaurant recs, and set us up with a local guide of the national park. The private dinner and massages on property were great. What made this stay even better, was the hosts truly appreciate their guests and go out of their way to get to know you and see you off properly. They plan on converting their whole property into a larger rental, and we will definitely be back with our family and friends

Mark and Jon are hosts we all hope to encounter when we are on vacation. These guys made us feel like family and friends during our stay. They were so welcoming and gracious to share their space with us. Prana has all the details, in a city that has all the beauty. You will feel like you are in a vacation, WITHIN a vacation. The pictures do not do it justice, and I fell in love with the pictures. The guys are always around, either in-person or via WhatsApp to answer questions, make reservations, or make us feel more connected. If you are LGBTQ and looking for a safe spot, don't read any further and book NOW! Once Mark gave us the walk around and he told us these are the 'his' and 'his' closets, we knew right there that we were going to have an incredible time. I could keep telling you all about this place, how easy it was to get to, the easy check in, the incredible hosts, the fresh chicken eggs every day straight from the coop on the property, or you can just book. BOOK BOOK BOOK! Hate to give away this hidden gem, but these guys need all the love they can get. Great for solo, a couple or 4 people. My wife and I just returned from a week at Prana Rainforest Retreat, and there are not enough words to describe how absolutely perfect it was. The property is amazing...beautiful spacious villa with your own private pool, full kitchen, magnificent shower, and windows that afford spectacular views of the surrounding rainforest and all of the wildlife. We saw toucans, monkeys, tree frogs, dart frogs, geckos, a sloth, and so many others. There are chickens on the property, and we were provided with as many fresh eggs as we wanted. Cooking breakfast every morning in the large, modern kitchen was a pleasure, and there is a lovely balcony where we drank our coffee and watched the visiting wildlife every morning. Mark and Jon are gracious, helpful, always available hosts who were happy to assist in anything we asked. Mark took us to the grocery store the first night we were there, and the next day gave us a comprehensive tour of the area after our rental car arrived. They suggested wonderful restaurants, arranged our airport transport, and just took excellent care of us all the way around. This was, by far, one of the best vacations my wife and I have had the pleasure to experience, and we travel frequently. Do yourself a favor and experience it all for yourself...you won't be sorry!…

This is the perfect retreat for any couple looking to reconnect and experience the best of Costa Rica. Mark and Jon were the absolute best hosts. Be sure to ask them for their recommendations and advice for going to the beaches and the park. We felt at home within the first day off arriving. We honestly have zero complaints. Be sure to check out as many local restaurants as you can. We didn’t find one that wasn’t absolutely wonderful!

There are no words for the majestic beauty Prana Rainforest Retreat holds. Nestled in the back of the Manuel Antonio Rain Forest, you are surrounded by the sights and sounds of a magical land, lush untouched and full of life. Sloths, monkeys, and birds came to visit daily. The space itself was expansive. Two large rooms adorned with gorgeous hand carved wood furniture, sleek doors and windows, art and sculptures both classic and modern. It was comfortable, effortless and serene. The full sized kitchen (in a separate space from the rooms) was clean and fully stocked for any cooking needs. I loved having coffee outside of the kitchen's patio in the mornings. It was perfect. There are two beautiful bathrooms and two showers- one you will never forget! Truly the most spectacular shower I've ever seen. The outdoor bath is an experience every person should have in their lives. The pool and cabana a beautiful space to rest, relax and rejuvenate. There is also a yoga ashram equipped with a hammock and all the tools you'd need to conduct your own yoga practice. Next to this, a private trail to explore the lands surrounding you and... your own waterfall. Really. Our hosts Mark and Jon were truly wonderful. They guided us before, during and (as Mark said) "till the wheels go up!" I would not be exaggerating to say the best hosts I've ever had. To say I just left paradise is an understatement.... Casa Prana and its Rainforest Retreat is an addictive place to be. Wether you’re lounging by the pool, bathing in the outdoor stone bath under a jungle canopy or seeking quiet contemplation on the yoga deck by a waterfall....you just do not want to leave. Animals abound. I saw sloths, peacocks and all sorts of wondrous birds. You really are in the think of decadent jungle living here. The decor is elegant and modern with handsome deposits of Balinese and Indian sculptures cast generously around the place. The four poster beds are comfy with exquisite cotton sheets...and the showers are luxurious. I’ve never seen such space dedicated to the art of showering. And finally the hosts: What can be said about these two fine individuals? Well lots...but it is your turn now to meet and linger just a bit in the warm shades of their hospitality, their cooking and their generous spirits. Bring on the next visit to my home away from home.
