Quepos is a shabby beach town, overbuilt, very touristy. Our hotel room was clean, but needed an update. But the bed and shower were good. The main attraction of the hotel is the beach front, a rarity in Quepos. The hotel provides chairs and beach towels, and large trees offer shade. Vendors sell crafts, but they are polite and unaggressive. A beautiful beach for morning walks. The gardens are also pleasant. Tiny swimming pool. Adequate buffet breakfast in the open-air hotel restaurant. Watch out for the monkeys! The hotel is on a busy road, so walking requires care and attention.

The location is beautiful and central. What was disappointing was my bed was full of bed bugs located in the wicker headboard. I had about ten bugs on me the moment I turned off the lights. What is more disappointing was how management handled the situation. When we approached management in the morning (there is no way to contact management at night), we were told she was not here and that we would be notified by email. We were emailed that sheets are washed daily (which I believe) and that we probably got bites from ”coloradillas”. I have pictures of my bites, as well as, the bugs and we were still dismissed. I had left my room that night because of the nest. If you stay there, please look for mattresses removed from rooms and located outside of the building (something that we ignored) and prepare to have the bed bugs bite. Management will not take any accountability.

With reference to your note about bedbugs, I would like to inform you that we do not have bed bugs in our beds. We change our sheets everyday. In the tropics there is always a misunderstanding regarding bed bugs. When people make tours to the National Park or walk over grass, there are very small bugs that get into your skin that we call “coloradillas” and they make you itch very badly and the only way to get rid of them is by rubbing alcohol. I think that that could be the case or else itching from mosquitos. In any case you mention that you have pictures of bedbugs, I would like to see them. Sincerely yours, Cecilia Lutz Hotel Karahe

One of the few hotels on the beach between all the surfing camps. Beautiful views, outdoor dining and bar area. Nice pool. Lots of white-faced monkeys on the property. Chairs and tables supplied for the beach and bar service. Some rooms have hammocks on the verandas. Great location and great surfing and surf lessons. Good waves for body surfing, and nice beach sand. SPA services available.

Hands down of all the places I stayed in Costa Rica, this was my favourite! The location was exactly where I wanted to be, I wished I would of spent my entire time in Manual Antonio here. With the beach being directly across the street and Manual Antonio Park being a short walk from here, it was great! Our villa way way up high had the most incredible views, the room itself was alright, for what we needed, not real fancy or anything but it did the trick, the chairs out front of the villa could use a little help.. We loved the fact that there was gated parking, an awesome restaurant, with breakfast included, right across the street, right in front of the beach. Tons of wildlife around here also, we loved every second that we were here, I wish it could of stayed longer..

This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at in my life. This was completely false advertising from their website. The room was absolutely filthy and falling apart. Some type of animal feces on the bed, gaps in the walls and door to the outside allowing in all sorts of large bugs and reptiles, and cracks in the wall/foundation. The toilet was broken upon going to our room and had been used (not flushed) which gives you an idea of how well the cleaning crew does on these rooms! The handy man was not able to fix the toilet and cursed at it while attempting to. He eventually gave up and left our room telling us it was fixed when he knew it wasn’t. I imagine it’s still probably broken now. The WiFi does not work in the rooms at all! it only works outside the rooms In common areas. When we spoke with the manager at the hotel she suggested that I work outside with my laptop. It was raining outside but she didn’t seem to care. There is no security or gate for the guests in rooms north of the street. Anyone could pull off the main road and rob these rooms or steal from the parked cars. The complimentary breakfast buffet was standard but in the span of 15 minutes we were asked 4 times by 3 women to provide our room number. I finally showed my numbered room key but another women still approached a few minutes later. The women also bothered other quests and accused them of already eating breakfast that morning. They need a better system to track which rooms have come to breakfast like a checklist. Please save yourself and book anywhere else in the area.
