We stayed in the Cockpit Cabana plane room. We arrived early checked in and could use the pool. The staff were not that friendly or helpful to be honest. Gave out limited information and it seemed almost that they were of the view that they were doing us a favour unlike the previous 3 hotels that we have stayed in during our visit to Costa Rica. The room was spacious and comfortable and the walkout balcony gave fantastic views over the trees and the ocean. Wildlife was in abundance, numerous birds including Toucans. Also a lot of monkeys and a couple of sloths, this alone made the stay worth a 5 star. The adult pool was very good served with a bar and great views. As mentioned in other reviews the hotel has or is affiliated to 4 restaurants, 3 a short walk off site. We used 2, one breakfast and one dinner. Breakfast was ok but the food was cold and pre cooked. The other for dinner, the El Avion, the food was awful. There are a lot of restaurants nearby and we would recommend using them. We wouldn’t want to stay for more than 4 days however just because there are other good hotels in the area. The estate is very hilly and steep it didn’t pose us a problem but could those with walking difficulties Would recommend for the views and closeness to nature…
Our stay at Costa Verde was amazing. If you don’t see tons of animals while on property you are blind. We saw tons of monkeys, sloths , toucans , and many more. The staff was great and helped us with getting cabs, more towels, etc. our first few nights we stayed in a studio plus room. The kitchenette, fridge, and dishes were a nice plus. The beds are just ok. A little hard, nothing great but we slept. The rooms were very very clean. The last few nights we stayed in the airplane room and oh my gosh .. it was incredible. I highly highly recommend. It was so spacious and we actually wanted to just be in our room when we moved there. The grounds are hilly so if you have someone unable to do a lot of hard walking, it won’t work. The beach is a little hard to get to. The walk down is doable but scary with no sidewalks. The bus ride back was easy but just inconvenient. The beach itself was ok. The A and B pools were also just ok. The adult pool is amazing. I wish there was more access to buy alcoholic drinks. The food related to The hotel was decent like everyone says. There is a car and they will drive you to their restaurants. Breakfast was our favorite at Anaconda. We have 3 young kids 10, 8 and 5 and this was a great place to stay with them to experience Costa Rica. …
We stayed at Costa Verde for three days in February 2023. The wildlife on site included howler, white faced and squirrel monkeys (entertaining but not bothersome), a mother sloth and her baby, numerous birds including one very vocal toucan at sunset one evening, as well as agoutis and coatis. Very natural environment. Pluses: front desk service friendly and efficient, with fluent English and quick, easy taxi service. Adults-only section offered a relaxing and private getaway with large sun deck, spectacular ocean view and sunsets, partially shaded pool with full bar and delivery from several nearby restaurants. We initially reserved the Cockpit Cottage but were much happier in our penthouse room in the adults only section. The four-floor walkup might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Our room was huge, well appointed, with incredible views from the full width covered outdoor deck. Great for watching for birds, monkeys, and sunsets. Only onsite restaurant (Anaconda) has a comprehensive menu and attentive service. Lots of excellent restaurant options in nearby Quepos including Indian, Thai, and seafood. The hotel’s has relationships with three nearby restaurants that required a bit of walking to reach. The beach is a 300 yard walk down the hill, though we did not visit the beach during our stay. Our only negative was the overly bright all-night security lighting from the Private Sky Loft suite aimed directly at our building, compromising the serene natural night-time beauty of the property. …
We stayed in E4 for 3 nights in the middle of our 10 day vacation. This was our favorite location! The room itself was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and had a fantastic balcony facing Playa Espadilla and the sunset. We appreciated the full sized fridge for our snacks and drinks and found the beds very comfortable. The AC was much appreciated as it is HOT here! The pros of the hotel included the close proximity to the beach, the great breakfasts in the Anaconda Restaurant, the entertaining capuchin and squirrel monkeys, the lovely adult only pool area, and the convenient shuttle service. The shuttle went far enough up the hill to make the walk into the little nearby commercial area short and easy (bank, pharmacy, convenience store, shops etc). We were lucky enough to have a mother sloth with her baby climb a tree just behind our room as well as having a Toucan knock on our door looking for fruit!! Wish the coffee was free flowing at breakfast, and the quality of food from El Wagon was better. But overall, we would go back again.…
We requested an oceanfront room in the adult section which we got but view was blocked by the shades over the pool. Can honestly say the beds were the hardest I have ever tried to sleep on (I travel quite a bit). Asked the staff if I could get some type of mattress topper or foam and they had no idea what I was talking about. Having a refrigerator in the room was nice because we could make our own ice. One of my main goals was seeing wildlife and in 3 days I saw a total of four monkeys (none on my balcony). I was beyond disappointed. On the positive side the staff was very helpful in assisting us with planning a tour.
Beautiful location and facilities. It was gorgeous. However, the staff were profoundly homophobic. In general, we were treated with extreme disrespect and disdain. Many of the staff insulted us in Spanish, either thinking we did not understand or just did not care that we did. It was disappointing and made the trip painful rather than joyful. There were 3 exceptions: 2 front desk staff and the bartender at the pool bar were courteous, helpful, professional.
We've been coming here for a few years. Spend a week or two enjoying the wildlife. Been here a few days and haven't seen anything. Not the same place. The wildlife is gone. When we got to our room it smelled horrible. Dirty baby diapers or someone sick. The maid tried to get rid of the smell with some spray, but it only lasted an hour or so. On the deck is a bathtub. Not sure who wants to get naked and take a bath in front of the whole pool Bath in a bathing suit maybe with a pool right there too. It takes up part of the deck, was filthy dirty with dirt and debris, and blocks the side of the building where you can see into the jungle. Sad to say but this will be our last trip here. Other places to stay in Manuel Antonio. I've recommended Costa Verde to lots of people over the years but no more.…
This was a normal experience. Nothing bad , nothing spectacular. The hotel is spread around different areas which is not very convenient. The best pool is branded adults only which makes no sense : this is clearly a family oriented hotel, so no logic in keeping the best part for adults only: make your mind in the kind of clientele you want , but trying playing both sides is not a good idea. Staff was OK, not the most enthusiastic people. No towels at the pool and other details indicate this is rather on the mid class level segment. Beware of enthusiastic reviews , some people are so fascinated with their Costa Rica travel that judge a normal, nice place as a luxury top end experience.
Rooms spread around the complex, ours down the road. However a car can be summoned at any time to take to to the main area or the off site three restaurants. Hilly site which accords wonderful views but not great for anyone with mobility issues. D4, our room was part of a four room block, had a fantastic view. The room was very well appointed with a large comfortable bed, good shower and great deck. Spider monkeys paid a visit one morning to our delight. Breakfast and lunch in the main restaurant was varied and good quality. Evening meals in the two other restaurants had the same menu, both had quite loud music and were busy. Eat early for a quieter meal. Bus to Quepos or the beach passes the door and is very frequent. Access to Manuel Antonio about a mile away. Hot and humid.
This lovely hotel includes an adults only section - greatly appreciated - with the facilities including a shaded pool and fabulous views over the bay. The hotel also offers breakfast - and there are numerous restaurants nearby for lunch and dinner. We enjoyed using the frequent and inexpensive public bus to connect with Manuel Antonio. The beach is also within walking distance, steeply downhill. Get the bus back! This hotel is in a great location, there are some fabulous views, and we saw some great birds including Scarlet Macaws. Be aware that some rooms are rather dark because of the surrounding vegetation (jungle) so I recommend that you book a sea-view room. Staff were very helpful, including Roland on the front desk and Fabian, who helped us with our bags and was generally very helpful. Also Brandon and Weivner were really great at breakfast time - thank you everyone.…
