We used Costa Verde to host our wedding last February. We went with the onsite wedding planner, Isabel. We did not arrive in Costa Rica until a few days before the wedding, but she made sure that everything was perfect. The location and view cannot be matched and the attention and service we received made it a perfect carefree weekend for our entire wedding party and guests. I would recommend them to anyone!

We were there during the Corona virus crisis. We asked to talk to the owner about modifying our reservations and were instructed to leave a note for him at the front desk that he never answered. We went to the front office a second time and were told that these matters were only handled by the manager, we were further instructed to write a detailed email explaining our situation and were given a generic customer service email address to send it to. The manager never responded, and a reasonable solution was never offered. At a critical time where the travel industry as a whole was making accomodations and helping their customers with their safety as a priority the Costa Verde management ignored our pleas and only focused on extracting as much money as they could from their guests. Advise, if everything goes well you may have a nice stay (the place is ok) if you need any help you are on your own.

We stayed in CV2 in a Studio Plus room and I can’t honestly think of a bad word to say about any of it!! The room was so spacious and had everything we needed, the place felt very safe and the wildlife was just EVERYWHERE. We saw sloths, howler monkeys and white face monkeys right outside our room. The view from our room and balcony was just stunning of the pool, the Pacific and manual Antonio national park. There’s a little shop on site and the staff at reception go out of their way to help you. The pool area is lovely, plenty of sun beds and the pool bar is reasonably priced with a friendly barman. We are in El Avion, La Wagon and Cantina for dinner, all of which were great and Anaconda was my fave part of the day for breakfast - delicious food and fun displays from the monkeys! I wouldn’t think about staying anywhere else if I returned to the area. The beach is a short drive away and night tours picked up from right outside. Definitely treat yourself to a studio plus!

It's not really a resort, more a collection of separate accommodation blocks spread out on a hillside. There are various different types of rooms and you need to choose carefully if you want guaranteed ocean views. For the last few nights of our Costa Rica holiday we splashed out on a studio-plus room in the Adults-only "Costa Verde 2" building (which they call CV2) which completely exceeded our expectations. The room was huge and very comfortable with good air conditioning and a large balcony. The moment we arrived we were wowed by the amazing 180 degree ocean views all the way along to Manuel Antonio National Park. We saw monkeys running along our balcony most days and we loved watching their antics around the pool area at various times as well. There definitely were "more monkeys than people" as their motto says, and unfortunately they just weren't many guests due to the developing virus situation. The hotel has some quite quirky features like part of a 1965 Boeing 727 aircraft converted into a suite and a McDonnell Douglas MD-80 fuselage also converted into accommodation. Note that everything on the site is quite spread out and it's very hilly. Even the walk from CV2 to the reception involved going up a steep slope or a flight of steps. So getting around would be an issue for the less mobile here. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch at the Anaconda restaurant, which is the only one where you can charge meals to your room. We did think that for the price we paid breakfast should have been included though. Anaconda has more fantastic views, plus friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. There are several other restaurants further up the hill which are associated with the hotel although they are separate businesses and you have to pay them separately. You can call reception and get them to take you in a car as it's a steep climb, but it's a little inconvenient as there's nowhere in the evening that you can just pop out to eat. Everywhere is a bit of a trek. However overall we had a very nice time at Hotel Costa Verde.

One of the stand-outs at this hotel (and there are several) is the Anaconda restaurant. Anaconda serves breakfast and lunch and the food is some of the best we have had in Costa Rica (and we have spent at least 30 days there in the past 8 years); order the banana bread....I would love to have that recipe. Hotel and restaurant staff were wonderful, our beds were comfortable and we loved the beautiful and unique grounds. There is an adults only pool (sorry, no swim up bar) with a phenomenal view...but everywhere you look you will see a breathtaking view. We actually preferred the family pool as there was a bit more shade, it was quieter and we liked watching the monkeys play....there was only a single well-behaved child there. If you have mobility issues be warned that this is a hilly location with quite a few steps...but if you let them know this there are rooms for people that need fewer steps. The TV reception was not good....but we do not go to CR to watch TV.
