We checked in late after a 3 hr transport from SJO. Parador appeared to be fully staffed which we were grateful for because we were upgraded to an Ocean view suite which is farthest from the lobby. No way I want to be schlepping luggage in the near dark not knowing where I'm going because the grounds do take a little figuring out which is best done in daylight. We were greeted with a cool wash cloth and delicious fruit drink, both appreciated. Passports were needed at checkin so have them handy. Breakfast was included and good. Especially enjoyed omelets and fried plantains. The resort was not very full so social distancing was not an issue. Pools were nice, there is an on-site self laundry and transportation from rooms to restaurants/lobby was a quick phone call away. I must say, the coffee machine in the room was the best we had on our trip once we figured it out. If there was one thing I didn't like, it was that the coffee maker sat in a fixed tray which made getting the water reservoir out to fill difficult. The length of the cord and available outlets made moving it a pain. Also, this fixed tray would have been nice to have been made removeable so it can be used to hold a coffee cup or drinks on the very comfortable couch since there wasn't a table nearby to hold a drink. That is really the only area for improvement I can think of. I would easily stay here again. A couple side notes, around 11PM I wanted a diet coke and ordered one from room service, knowing it would cost enough to buy a six pack or more at a US grocer. It was delivered cold and the server said it was complimentary. I think it was the same person who delivered our luggage so tipping nicely can have reciprocal benefits. We chose to eat dinner in town after day long excursions. Ronnie's has a killer sunset view complete with macaws. The food was good. The second night we ate at Emilio's which is right off the main road heading to Parador. That was seriously good. The ceviche was probably tied with Deseo in Scottsdale AZ for the best I've ever had. That was a very good dining experience. Although only about a mile from Parador, I wouldn't walk because it is up and down some good sized hills. Also, the hotel is on a hill which is a good walk down to the bottom and back and not easy for those with hip/knee/ankle issues. There is a shuttle though.…
My family visit to Parador was an amazing experience. Incredible place with awesome views. All of the staff was terrific. They were helpful and attentive to all our needs. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Room was cleaned once daily and someone would come around in the early evening to check and see if you needed anything else.
This perfectly located hotel and spa has it all. Swimming pools that allow “non parents” to enjoy the pool benefits without child interaction! A big plus!! Every member of staff appears to be happy to work here and that passes on to the client experience. I was upgraded to a superb suite and benefitted from the bird and animal kingdom who frequented the trees directly in front of my room. Covid awareness was evident everywhere-hand sanitizer available everywhere The fitness facility was regulated to provide social distancing In short this was a perfect place to spend quality relaxing time 10 out of 10 for everything!!
We had a wonderful stay at the Parador! I traveled with my husband (while pregnant) to Costa Rica for the first time. We rented a car from SJO. We stayed 5 nights at Parador, and so glad we did! Not only was the hotel very clean (even more so during COVID), the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel grounds were beautiful— from the scenery surrounding the resort, to the rooms, to the pool... it was like we were in paradise. We saw every type of wildlife on the grounds of the hotel: squirrel monkeys, white faced monkeys (they did get aggressive), howler monkeys, raccoons, iguanas, parrots, toucans, and sloths! I would HIGHLY recommend. Also, it’s an easy drive into town for food (although the food was great at the hotel). We also booked a tour of the national park through the hotel with Elias, and it was well worth it. I was able to do the hike easily at 27 weeks pregnant. Also, Yerald at the pool bar was fantastic. …
