We were here for 3 nights had a wonderful room with 3 bedrooms, sofas, full service kitchen and a welcome bottle of sparkling for our anniversary. Coffee maker, soft drinks and beer in the fridge complimentary also felt a nice touch (I appreciate it is not an inexpensive property). Stayed as a Hilton diamond and whilst there is a welcome letter the team are a little unclear on some of the benefits eg late checkout, although this was done and the team worked really hard despite full occupancy for us to keep our room without charge. Every single staff member was helpful, checking if they could help, or you needed anything even a lift to the beach. Breakfast was a la carte although you were served a selection of fruit and pastries at your table and your chosen dish was then served, it was excellent. The view of the ocean from there was also lovely. The pool area had towels available, great value 10 dollar cocktails (bogof) were robust and tasty especially mango daiquiri. Again staff excellent. The food at the pool and at dinner also very good but there is a selection of restaurants and a mini market 5 mins walk up the hill, lots of choice and not too pricey. The beach is lovely to watch sunset though I heard a number of ungrateful guests say it was a bit volcanic and the sand was grey (it’s Costa Rica!). There is wildlife to see on the property too. This is an amazing property with good facilities and service. Would love to return but may need to save a little bit harder.

The second leg of our amazing trip in Costa Rica was spent at Los Altos. We are a family of 4 - a 5 year old and 3 year old and the garden suite condo was perfect for us. Everyone had their own room and it felt secluded enough that we weren’t worried we were bothering other people with noise. All of the staff at the resort were amazing and so helpful from helping us get taxis and answering questions to even surprising our 5 year old with a birthday cake on his birthday. The location was beautiful and peaceful - we loved the pool area with the overlook to the ocean and saw so many cool birds while out and about. We ate at the restaurant there every morning for breakfast and it was so delicious - my favorite was the great fruit and chocolate filled croissants. All the staff was approachable and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed when we needed it and we felt right at home. The last day I tried out the private beach by myself and it was secluded and private which was perfect for wanting peace and quiet. Everything felt clean and inviting wherever you were in the hotel. Would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a place in Manuel Antonio or with a young family.

Los Altos Resort is located along the Pacific coast on acres of rainforest adjacent to Manuel Antonio National Park. The hotel itself is surrounded by an unspoilt rainforest, and a path takes you to the sea. With an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, Los Altos caters to guests who like to venture out, as well as those who prefer the peace and serenity brought to them.
We have booked a "townhouse", which is actually a spacious duplex with, therefore, two levels of interior rooms decorated with tropical accents that never seem overloaded. Each of the two large floor-to-ceiling windows (one per floor) opens onto a wide balcony, offering panoramic views of the treetops to the ocean. The terrace of the balcony on the lower floor also offers a small personal swimming pool very pleasant to cool off!! or to admire the superb sunsets!!
We also enjoyed the restaurant Karolos designed on the interior/exterior design motif of very good taste. The Karolos offers many local dishes and refreshing cocktails. Breakfasts are also varied and plentiful.
The staff is charming and attentive (Thanks to the whole team and our butler Andrey) to make you an unforgettable and successful stay! Director Pascal is ... French and himself, is close to his guests and always willing to give us opinions on visits to do and even on restaurants outside the hotel! In short, if you want to have a successful stay then it is in Los Altos that you must put your bags.
Important point of the hotel: it is close to Manuel Antonio National Park.
Also, do NOT forget to rent a car to visit parks other than Manuel Antonio and allow 3h00 to 3h30 transport from the airport to the Los Altos resort.

We expected to love this place. The setting is beautiful, however, there are a lot of flaws. The first three days we were at the hotel there was construction going on at the end of the pool - loud construction. The first morning, I went out on the balcony with coffee and all I could hear was the gas powered leaf blower that went on for well over an hour. My husband was swimming laps and said he kept breathing in carbon monoxide. We went down to the private beach and lo and behold an hour after we got there, yet another leaf blower. I asked the bartender if he could please ask him to stop. He said the person wasn't with Los Altos. Apparently, the advertised "private beach" isn't really private because there are two other property owners within 50 ft. The bartender took pity on us and asked the guy to stop, which he did and proceed to get his rake out. On top of the issue with the noise, our suite smelled like sewage. Not damp, not musty, but sewage. My husband asked them to look at it while we were at the beach. They tried to fix the issue, which seemed centered on the 1/2 bath, but couldn't, so they moved us to another suite. We think they knew there was a problem because there was a big dehumidifier in the laundry room and a sizable hole cut in the drywall, which our 2nd suite didn't have, and some of the doors couldn't open all the way because the floors were warped. They also told us twice, on our way to the first room, that this is "one of our nicest rooms". They are all the same and the 2nd room had a slightly better view. Lastly, the biggest issue is security. The elevator door opens into the suite. At first I thought it was cool, like we were in a city penthouse. The problem, though, is that anyone in the elevator basically comes into your room. I thought it was a fluke the first time because both of the 7th floor rooms needed the elevator at the same time so one side of the elevator opened up on our suite and the other side opened on theirs. We all laughed thinking it was just weird timing. Nope, if someone is in the elevator and you hit the button it will stop and open the door to your suite. Someone we spoke with said a mom and her kid got off of the elevator into their suite thinking they were in the lobby. If you're riding up with someone and your room is first they can basically come right in. The elevator card only allows you to pick your own room but it doesn't stop anyone else from getting on or off. This also means any cleaning staff ends up right in your room because there is no door for them to knock on. There was no way to securely lock the suite, which is surprising. I will say that the staff was absolutely fantastic, especially the bartender at the beach and the hysterical guy that drives the truck back and forth to the private beach (my inability to remember names shows here).

We are sorry that your stay at Los ALtos did not meet your expectations and that noise from construction impacted your enjoyment at the hotel. We will speak to the facilities staff about the use of leaf blowers during the day and are sorry that that your husband smelled gas while he was swimming. It sounds like the issue with your suite upon arrivsl was resoleved quickly and that you were moved to a suite on a higher floor with a better view. The room card that guests receive should open only to that particular suite; if the door opens to another suite, it means that a guest called for the elevator or used their key card to get to their room. More than one guest uses the elevator at a time. Sometimes people exit the elevator, thinking they are at their destination when actually they're not yet there. They are not doing it to get into another guest's room, rather it's just an unintentional mistake. We are glad that there were many things you did enjoy at the hotel and hope you had a pleasant stay in Costa Rica.

From the moment we arrived, until we departed the staff was amazing. They were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to make our stay a great experience. Traveling with my wife and adult daughter, we stayed in an hugely spacious and comfortable 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. The view from our 4th floor balcony was lovely. The swimming pools (one for small children) are perfect with a large hot tub. Breakfast, which was included in our rental, was delicious with very generous portions, also had dinner there one night and once in town. Both had very nice menus and we all loved our entrees. Their small beach, which they graciously drive you to, is a quite nice place to relax. The grounds are eautifully landscaped and an easy walk to the small town.

We LOVED our time at this resort!! The staff is wonderful and really goes out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. David checked us in and each time we saw him he checked with us to see if we needed anything. We stayed in the two story townhouse overlooking the pacific ocean and the views were breathtaking. We saw monkeys jumping through the trees on a few occasions and watched a beautiful sunset from our room one evening. We didn't realize that the townhouse also came with two butlers. We had Christian and Andrey Jimenez and they set up a whatsapp chat for us and helped us to make dinner reservations and set up transportation for us. They were wonderful! Breakfast is included which was nice and they even offered a boxed breakfast to go on the morning we had an excursion. This was a very nice touch.
The resort offers golf cart service around the property and a vehicle to drive you down to the beach. The beach would be very difficult to walk down to on your own but we never waited for transportation. We called and almost immediately, someone was there to take us where we wanted to go. We had the beach to ourselves and it was so relaxing and wonderful after days of excursions and running around. The pool was great also and every single day we were there the squirrel monkeys came to visit and they were so fun to watch! I highly recommend this resort and if we ever get back to Manuel Antonio, we won't hesitate to stay here.

First time to Costa Rica. My wife and 3 adult sons and our neighbor and her 2 adult sons. All of the places we stayed had great customer service and attention to detail. The people of Costa Rica seem genuinely happy to show you their world. Alex and the rest of the staff at Los Altos were even better! Attention to every detail and need. Other recent reviews hit the highlights of personal shuttles around the grounds, “location, location, location”, secluded beach, animals, and the wonderful free breakfasts ( they ordered ahead one day when our excursion was leaving just after opening time so we could eat right at 6:30am. Also our departure was at 6am and they had box lunches sent up the night before so we could heat and eat before leaving!)

This Hotel was awesome! Everyone there was super friendly, and the food there is lovely. This hotel has a private beach, and surprisingly it’s almost always deserted. (I came here in April). Everyone at the resort could speak English, so you don’t need to speak any Spanish to get around here. Los Altos has a fancy restaurant, with amazing food. The room itself is big and luxurious, they even have locally made soap dispensers in the showers! Los Altos offers free breakfast. Breakfast includes various options from yummy French toast to a local Costa Rican dish.
Los Altos also has an infinity pool (for all rooms) looking out into the pacific ocean. There is a pool bartender from whom you can order. The pool is super big and shallow, but you can still swim. The beach is a one kilometer hike, it’s very downhill one way and very uphill the other way. However they do offer a shuttle service to get you down there without the walk. On the beach there is a private bartender that will make cocktails and virgin cocktails for those little ones. The bartender also can give you a lounger and towels while also bringing your drink to you. Los Altos offer many different activities from free cooking classes to yoga sessions. They also have a game room, with a air hokey table, pool table, foosball table, and a basketball hoop (with basketballs). This luxurious hotel also offers room service if you want it.

Here now, and totally disappointed. I have never written a hotel review, but feel it is necessary in this case. Not even close to a five star hotel. Three stars? Musty room; cannot run the AC because the cool air smells heavily of mildew or mold; the entire hotel is a construction site; cannot sit at the pool because of construction on both sides makes it impossible to experience peace; food adequate for a three star hotel, but an embarrassment for a five star hotel; service OK, but mixed in quality; lots of road noise and construction noise in the rooms; furniture cheap and ugly; sloppy painting. Tried to retire to room to find peace but buzzing saw noises for resonates throughout. Spa closed, though this was not disclosed. For $700 a night? Truly awful.

We are sorry your stay at Los Altos was not to your liking. There is some construction going on at our hotel as well as at neighboring properties. We cannot control construction happening offsite and are sorry that you were disturbed by the noise. We are renovating some floors inside the hotel; the whole hotel is not under construction. We are also rebuilding our spa. While that is going on, services are available in the guest rooms, and the new spa will reopen in a few weeks. We have never had any guests complain about a musty or moldy smell, so hope you informed someone at the front desk so the problem could be addressed. As for your complaints about the restaurant, furniture and service, other guests don't share your opinions, as you can see from the majority of 5-star reviews we have received. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Costa Rica.

This is a great hotel. With it's central location you're not more than a 10 dollar, 5 minute taxi ride away from both downtown Quepos and Playa Espadilla Norte (although the hotel provides a free shuttle). The rooms are fantastic and clean. The staff are very helpful and helped us book all our excursions. Overall a brilliant experience Manuel Antonio.

The taxis can be vans which will accommodate 5 people - the resort will make arrangements for many excursions where you will be picked up and returned. I believe kayaking is one of them

Los Altos' beach is quite beautiful and in a natural untouch state in front of their property. It changes almost every day as the tide comes and goes. Los Altos provides transportation to and from for those who don't want to walk the trails down, though thats highly recommended. They also provide, chairs, umbrellas, towels and food and beverage service. Highly recommended!!
