If you want to visit Malpaís or Santa Teresa and need a place to stay, definitely I recommend you the Hotel The Place. My wife and I had a good experience there, good breakfast. It also has a place where you to cook in case you need. In general, very good choice.
We loved staying in the bungalow! The breakfast every morning was delicious. We loved ordering off the menu. The entire staff was very helpful! Setting us up with tour ideas and directions and the ATV. We loved renting an ATV from the hotel to use around town. We highly recommend this hotel!
There is no Television in the room, and that is not known during reservation. Other than that staff were great and very friendly. The hotel is nice. Breakfast was minimal to a selection of one main plate and a selection of juice or fruits.
The Place is a small boutique hotel 100 m to the small commercial center of Santa Teresa/Mal Pais and 200m to the Santa Teresa beach. We rented a bungalow which wasan open space with one double bed in one corner, two single beds in the opposite corner and a closed bathroom in the middle. It was comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. There are comfortable chairs is relaxing music around the pool. The breakfast is excellent. The staff is friendly and very useful. Service can be slow however as there is only one person at any time. The WI-FI reception in our bungalow was minimal and we had to stay around the pool for a reliable reception, which was OK. My only deception was the quality of the toilet paper, thin as rice paper, surprising at such a place. I would recommend buying your own at the nearby convenience store. Overall, pleasant and good value for money.…
My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night at the tail end of our trip. The grounds are beautiful. As you enter you are greeted by a beautiful mosaic tile pool. The choice of green tile makes the pool feel very much like a lagoon. It is surrounded by beautiful plants and beach chairs. And feels like a little oasis between the sandy towns of Santa Teresa and Mal Pais There are also covered seating areas nearby with white curtains and red pillows, where you can get away from the sun. As well as a shaded bar right near the pool. Some things you should know before you book: 1) Breakfast is included and delicious! 2) You cannot flush toilet paper, this is true of EVERY establishment in this part of Costa Rica, including the $500 a night resorts. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly, and we enjoyed our stay very much.…
