We chose to spend part of our honeymoon at Moana Lodge. During the long and (very) bumpy taxi ride, I began to question our choices until we pulled up to Moana Lodge. The lush landscaping was a welcome change to the dusty, arid view we had in the taxi. The room we had was gorgeous, modern and clean, with huge...

I traveled to Mal Pais last week with my boyfriend and another couple, and we stayed at Moana Lodge. All of these good reviews are true- it's amazing! The grounds are beautiful and well kept, the rooms are clean (we stayed in a deluxe room, friends had the Junior Suite. Ours was awesome, theirs was extra super awesome). The pool...

First off the "just ok" couple that wrote the review below were just ok themselves. My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the Moana Lodge and cannot even tell you what a wonderful experience we had! We were in one of the junior suites, which was just gorgeous, super clean, smelled nice and the outdoor shower was heaven on...

Hotel was clean with a shaded swimming pool. However, owners were not too friendly and at times we felt like we were intruding in their space. The ground staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was mediocre (pls note that unlike other places, extra juice/eggs to your liking cost extra). The restaurant was also closed (probably becasue it was off...

I apologise that we missed to inform you that the restaurant was closed. We took the decision to close for the first two weeks of May as it was two of the quietest weeks of the year and we only had two bookings during that period. We wrote to both of those guests to inform them of the restaurant being...

There are hotels that can provide great service and then there are those hotels which provide experiences. Well Moana Lodge provides both of these in spades. My wife and I had trouble deciding on where we would go on our honeymoon and after deciding on Costa Rica we were recommended Moana Lodge in Mal Pais. As I had no conception...

I would HIGHLY recommend staying at the Moana Lodge. Not only did my friend and I have a fantastic time there, I know there were at least 4 other groups of people that loved Moana and the people there. In fact, we all had a big dinner and drinks on our last night there…that’s how friendly this place is. If...

We recently returned from our trip to Costa Rica for our honeymoon and we are so glad that we stayed at Moana Lodge. Our room was amazing, the views incredible and the staff extremely helpful, friendly and hospital. The resort is very much help yourself, the pool bar was on the honor system, but it was lovely. I highly recommend...

Mal Pais and Moana Lodge were exactly what we were looking for in this trip. We were deciding between Mal Pais and Nosara when booking our trip and finally decided on Mal Pais and Moana Lodge. This was a wedding anniversary trip, so we were willing to spend a little more to stay in a nice place. Moana was perfect....

We were on the fence about staying here, especially after reading some of the negative reviews, but decided to go for it as it has always been my boyfriend's dream to surf Malpais. We were pleasantly surprised! The hotel was really nice, friendly owners, comfortable rooms - the African theme seemed a little cheesy when in Costa Rica, but it...

Wow. Just perfect. Beautiful hotel. Incredibly tasteful. We were a little unsure as we approached along the dusty track but as we were welcomed and led up to our incredible room intrepidation was replaced by sheer delight. The room (a suite) was absolutely gorgeous, cream washed wood, huge bed with quality linen, minimalist African art, huge window with the best...
