Stayed here for few nights. The have few bungalows. In the Center of a nice garden is a pool. The furnishing is basic but enough. The location is central and luckily at the start of a not acceptable road/way (or whatever they try to call it). They main road is only a dusty, sandy and rocky way. Incredible and definitely not acceptable. But this hotel is like an oasis of calm, except if the big trucks passing the main road.
Nice and helpfull staff, we had problems with the WiFi in our bungalow (didn't want to sit outside in nightime) so he installed a new router for us. Answer every questions we have. Nice rooms, has AC and fridge. Very tasty pizzas in the restaurant Downside is there is nowhere to put the clothes except leaving them inside the suitcases.
when we arrived the owner was rude, didnt know where our reservation was and said he couldn't remember the wifi password. We spoke to another couple staying there and they said he changes the password nightly. Our friend was quoted 50 US a night and when we checked out we were charged 80. No fridge and AC didn't work.
We were with a group of 12 people and did not know our exact arrival date till the day before. Jonathan was very helpful and punctual in his email conversations about the possibilities for renting several bungalows. The welcome was very friendly as well, rooms were comfortable. He and the staff were very helpful with arranging tours, suggesting dinner places and flexible in breakfast time when we had to leave early. We definitely recommend this little oasis with very nice swimming pool. Thanks Jonathan and the team.
When I checked into the hotel, the manager described the room. He said that the room came with a mini-fridge (you really need one because of the heat). Right away, I could see that mini-fridge was missing. I talked to the manager 3 times about this situation. Each time he replied,"I'll get the maid to get it".After 6 days, there was still no mini-fridge. I had to buy a cooler and ice for it everyday. Finally, I told him that I would not leave his office until he got one for my room. At that point he delivered the mini-fridge to my room. Never stay at this hotel. The service is horrible.
This is a very long overdue review, but we still often talk about how amazing our time at Ritmo was. We stayed there for a week in December 2016 (unable to select an earlier date on here) and there is no doubt that when we are back in Mal Pais we are going back to see Jonathan & the rest of the staff! We were fortunate to be booked into the upper suite which overlooked the bungalows and pool in one direction, and into the lush jungle in the other. The howler monkeys could be seen in the distance, and the iguanas were basking in the sun on the roof. It was peaceful and away from the main intersection so the nighttime sounds were muted in order to enjoy the jungle. Ritmo was exceptionally clean: pool, restaurant, rooms, grounds, landscaping...everything! We couldn't have been happier with our choice! We only ate dinner in the restaurant twice, and the pizzas are delicious!! We decided to stay one extra night and Jonathan had no issues moving us down into a bungalow on ground level as the suite was booked past our initial reservation. The bungalow is like a one room suite, super quaint and comfortable, and again very clean. The main intersection to get down to the beach is only a few minutes walk away, only 5 mins to the beach (a little closer is an access to a quieter section of the beach and tide pools. If you are looking for a nice relaxing place to come back to after a day of surfing or adventures, or love to wake up to the magical jungle sounds, this is your place!…
Finally decided to check out this area of the coast after hearing about the quaint town of Santa Teresa that borders on Mal Pais. After an extensive search, we chose Hotel Ritmo Tropical for it's adorable bungalows and the great price. Each room faces the pool which is a good size. I was also intrigued by the reviews of the onsite restaurant which didn't disappoint. The hotel was walking distance to the beach and many restaurants when we decided ti venture out. All in all, a perfect getaway!
This place is super clean, and has an amazing staff. The restaurant there also has some of the best food in the area. The pool is a delightful treat to beat the heat. Finally the location is prime!! It will be the only place I stay when I'm in the area.
Me mama and 20 weeding guet stayed at this lovely of a hotel in December 2016. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made a great choice. It’s charming, comfortable, well located and carefully maintained. After seeing a variety of other hotels we could have stayed at in the area, we all agreed that Ritmo provided the best value without compromising on quality. We really recommend it for couples or family all ages
Fabulous bungalows, reasonably priced, close to everything. Jonathan was a fantastic host. If you want a good base to explore the Mal Pais area, this is a great option. The restaurant is also great with yummy Italian cuisine. We were there for a friend's wedding and took over the place. The pool is one of the best features, private and cool with the bungalows surrounding it. A very social and pleasant area to hang out. Highly recommended.
