The Ritmo Tropical Hotel in Costa Rica is a hidden gem amid exuberant tropical nature. My experience at this hotel was absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to return.

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by friendly and attentive staff who gave me a warm welcome. I was pleasantly surprised by the design and decoration of the hotel. It is clear that much attention has been paid to detail to create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. The room I stayed in was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. It had all the amenities you could want, including a comfortable bed, and air conditioning.

The hotel restaurant offers delicious local and international food. Every morning I enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast with a wide selection of fresh and tasty dishes. In addition, the hotel pool is perfect for relaxing in the sun and enjoying a refreshing cocktail.

Stayed here for few nights. The have few bungalows. In the Center of a nice garden is a pool.
The furnishing is basic but enough. The location is central and luckily at the start of a not acceptable road/way (or whatever they try to call it). They main road is only a dusty, sandy and rocky way. Incredible and definitely not acceptable. But this hotel is like an oasis of calm, except if the big trucks passing the main road.

Overall the hotel is nice. Good location, close to the town and beach. Rooms are clean and tidy and have everything you need. Free breakfast is good, but limited food options. The only thing letting the hotel down is the cleanliness of the pool. The pool water was cloudy and green and during our stay it got progressively worse, even after myself and other guests spoke to the manager/owner multiple times. The pool was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel so it was very frustrating not being able to use it.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 days. We had no hot water for the whole stay even if we adressed this from day one and which is not acceptable if you pay what it costs during "peek season".The hotel manager was never available in the reception and hardly anyone else spoked english. Seemed also that the hotel manager did not have a clear picture of our stay and actually lost a booking that he confirmed in October. We got things stolen from the veranda. I would not recommend this place at all as the management is very unexperinced and could not live up to the service and standard that was expected. Only reason for booking this place was that this was the only available housing in Santa Teresa....now I understand why.

Our room was small but clean. You can walk into town from the hotel which was really good. The restaurant in the hotel did amazing pizzas. The only thing was the air con or lack of it in our room really needed it working and it was not great at all.

Ritmo Tropical is our favourite place to stay in Mal Pais / Santa Teresa. It's a local family run business and Jonathan the Manager is very nice, super helpful and he speaks great english. The rooms are large and clean and they have a great pool. We feel comfortable leaving our valuables behind when we go out because the rooms have a massive metal lock box that's super secure. It's very quiet at night and only it's only a quick walk to a beautiful surf beach. If you didn't bring a surfboard stop by Jobbies Long Boards, it's on the way to the beach. And while there are lots of amazing restaurants to eat at in the area, one of our favourites is the restaurant right at Ritmo Tropical. My wife and I love their breakfasts and their dinners are the best.

Stayed here for 4 nights in mid January at the recommendation of a friend who found that it was economical. The rooms were small but clean and the location was good for being able to walk or cab to local beach. The surroundings around the hotel were also kept pretty clean. The negatives, like a few others have complained, hot water is an issue. We didn't have it for 2 days and when the hotel manager sort of fixed the problem. It was hot sometimes and luke warm to chilly other times, but better than just cold as it had been upon arrival. The biggest issue I had was that I regretted having the hotel manager enter our room to fix the water issue because it was then known we would be gone most of the day and there was enough time for someone to go through my belongings to steal a waterproof camera I had brought with me but had left in the room. Partly I should have known better and locked it in my suitcase, but it always saddens me the length some people will go to just to take steal something to save a buck themselves or profit. It wasn't like the camera was laying around in the room, I had purposely, while in a rush, put it at the bottom of a travel bag I had and stuffed two sweaters and a hat on top, so you had go digging to find it. No point in focsuing on it during my trip because I didn't really expect the hotel manager or staff to say "i did it" so i let it go. So even though the place was less expensive than others, I basically ended up paying the difference with the item that was stolen. I still managed to enjoy my stay, but simply for the worth of morals, I'd rather stay at a slightly more expensive place with honorable staff.

Stayed at the Ritmo in the middle of February 2013. I originally booked in for three days, not knowing what to expect, and ended up staying for ten days. Had my own cabin, which was very clean, had a safe, AC and large bathroom. The pool was excellent, very clean and great for a cool off swim in the afternoon. Staff was friendly, and restaurant was very good at night (only ate here twice because there is so many great places in the area). Location can't be beat, as you are right in a central location to access Mal Pais, and Santa Teresa and a short 5 minute walk to beach. Would stay again forsure!

I did not stay at this place, so I cannot say whether it was a great place, but I will say that the hotel emailed me 4 days before I was supposed to leave for Costa Rica saying they accidentally double booked the room and we no longer had a place to stay. I was extremely disappointed to hear this, especially after reading so many great reviews.

Almost every where in MP/ST are bungalows We seen many locations we would enjoy, liked the relaxed atmosphere at Ritmo. Breakfast and dinner, they don't do lunch nor is the bar open. They let you have your own cocktails in the pool and Our friends that live there were welcome.
