We stayed for two nights in a garden room. While the hotel looks old, it was still clean. They even had someone frequently sweeping near the beach bar to prevent the sand/mud from tracking in. The room could use better curtains that close fully, a couple hooks in the room for towels, and another light because it was a bit dark. The staff were all friendly. Josh, in reception, was very helpful arranging an adventure park excursion while allowing us to keep the room for a late check out for our dog. The woman who cleaned our room graciously gave us a thick floor towel to step on since it was rainy and wet outside, which prevented a nasty muddy mess in the room. The food was good, and the price to rent surf boards was reasonable. We would recommend it.

Good: Check in/check out process was quick. Josh was friendly and helpful. Bad: Money was stolen from my wallet at the hotel. Reported it after check out and response was belligerent/insensitive. They reported no one came into the room but the person I was with, however I never reported which one of us had money took from the wallet, so how would they know it was me unless they went into my wallet to match the name with the ID. Lesson learned on my part. Regardless of the good and ok, it is not worth the bad. OK: Free breakfast/parking.

We had a wonderful time on the beach. It's absolutely gorgeous! The waves were so much fun to play in and watch newbies learn to surf. We never enjoyed the pool. Maybe next time...The breakfast was delicious too! We visited the Public House restaurant several times for lunch and dinner. Don't miss it! Tell Chris, the owner we sent you. Planning a repeat trip in August 2023. Can't wait!

Absolutely amazing! Beautiful property, excellent service and authentic decor. Comfortable beds, a truly relaxing hotel. Breakfast was wonderful. Not one complaint. We stayed at another property the night before and it did not come close to the South Beach hotel. A memorable experience for sure!

My first time in this hotel. What a nice room. Near the bar, but couldn't hear any sound from it. Pool is big and great. Breakfast was delicious and all I needed. Did have a snack at the bar... huge! More of a lunch than a snack. I was not inbthe main building but in one of the garden rooms. So nice. Comfortable bed. Clean bathroom.

We were happy with everything - Hotel South Beach is affordable, staff always friendly and accommodating, good jump off location for activities if you can leave the sand and surf. Our room was spacious, clean, and opened up to the swimming pool. Food was yummy. The photos are what you get. No complaints from me and we would return without question.

In the pictures this hotel appears nice. In person, not so much. We visit CR every year and have stayed in various hotels, resorts & AirBNBs so we feel we have a well rounded experience in CR and can be objective. This hotel has no one on premise to contact after 10 pm until 8 am if something goes wrong. We woke up to no running water on July 6th & had a tour planned that morning. We were told that there was an issue with the motor that runs the water system. It is also very loud. We were facing the pool on the 3rd floor and the bar area is quite loud until about 11pm. Even with the doors closed and curtains pulled we could hear the loud singing and music. This hotel is more of a party hotel than a relaxing stay. Lots of mosquitos in the restaurant area. It is CR but we've not experienced the mosquito issues at other places we've stayed. The free breakfast is 2 small pancakes and some hard fruit, or the traditional breakfast are the choices. Drinks at the bar are expensive and liquor is watered down. Employees for the most part are very nice. Manger Lisa Hammer is not customer centric though. We complained about the water situation and she offered no credit or even comps on dinner or drinks for the inconvenience. Jaco has changed quite a bit and this hotel is off the main strip which was nice but you definitely don't want to be walking at night to get to the center of Jaco. As a family man I would not bring my family to Jaco again. There are much better options for families. …

Great spot to stay right on my beach! Perfect surf shot right outside your door. We had a great time at the South Beach Hotel! The entire staff from the front desk to the servers & bartenders were super friendly & very helpful. We enjoyed dinner & drinks at the bar while watching the sunset & chatting with the bartenders. My husband loved the whole fried snapper & you have to try their homemade hot sauce, we wished we could bring some home with us…it was SO good. Everyone spoke great English. The rooms were clean & spacious. We will definitely stay there again next time we visit Jaco. We felt super safe at this location, it’s much more chill than downtown Jaco.

This amazing beach front hotel with accommodating staff makes vacation so enjoyable.The receptionists were so warm and welcoming when we checked in and always super helpful. We always felt like they were family. We looked forward to their included breakfast every morning with great coffee! The pool was the best part of our holiday. The grounds are always being cleaned and groomed. Overall we highly recommend this well kept secret hotel on the beach.

Lisa and Manrique run a very efficient and clean hotel. They and their whole staff were very accommodating to us, we felt treated like family. The food was good, everything was clean, the bar staff was great and fun, we loved it! Everyone was so nice. Would gladly return!
