Excellent service, good breakfast. Quiet space to stay, very nice owner Victor and his wife, super friendly staff, clean rooms. Located walking distance to beach. Owner down to earth guy always trying to help so really great hospitality. Some rooms have kitchenette so if you on budget cooking is optional. Walking distance to Italian store, or big market, or restaurants. Activity centre just around corner, beach restaurants all in walking distance from hotel.

Booked a 3 night stay through hotels.com. Upon check in was taken up stairs to corner unit facing street with woods creek on other side of road. Room was dilapidated old smelled of mould and dark. Might be listed as value but not worth $10 per night. We informed hotels.com they contacted the owner and he not allow us a refund for our balance of 2 nights. Suggest avoiding this run down old smelly hotel. Not safe with people coming up from the creek/ravine . Breakfast was also below average which was included . Buyer Beware other value hotels close by that are a huge upgrade from this so called value hotel.if there was a no star option this hotel qualifies.

Room is dark and dingy with weird smell. Bedsheets have stain marks that the front desk said is ‘normal’. We paid $200 for 2 nights stay and they cannot even include towels with the stay. They will charge you $15 for the towels used in the room. $100 a night Is not cheap and they cannot even include TOWELS in the stay?? Ridiculous.

Perfect location. You're right in the center of town but on a quiet side street. Secure parking lot although you're probably just fine right on the street. Helpful staff. Very secure. Felt covid precautions were properly taken. Good sized room. Nice pool area. Breakfast area was fine. Recommend for a Jaco stay.

Very nice place and even better service. We used this place quite often and always has been great. We will be back soon. Good rates, good size rooms. Nice and quite part of Jacó, which is good if you traveling for work. Walking distance from good places to have something to eat or have a drink.

Great place for a relaxing weekend in Jacó! The breakfast is amazing! This is a family oriented property, meaning a lot of kids, so you must like them! The apartments are great if you are coming with a big group. Remember to bring towels for the pool, these are not provided by the hotel (I think they should).

We stayed with our two kids for a week and found the hotel staff to be very accommodating. We requested a bigger family room after our first night and were offered a better and more updated room that we liked. Our kids loved the pools in the courtyard and the daily breakfast ritual. All the staff members were very friendly and helpful. We met Victor, the owner, who was onsite and very approachable to guests. He recommended and even took me to a local physical therapist when I needed help! We really enjoyed our time there!

My family and I stayed at the Hotel Mar de Lux at the end of our Costa Rican vacation. It is located slightly off the Main Street and away from the noise - which we liked. And it is an attractive building with a lovely pool area and gardens, as well as a delicious breakfast. When we checked in, we noticed the safe in our room was broken. We asked on 3 separate occasions at the front desk for someone to come and fix it. No one did, so we had to spend the entire trip having to carry around our passports etc which is less than ideal from a safety perspective. On our second night, we noticed water dripping through the ceiling from the room above from ours (it completely soaked our son’s luggage) - we went to the desk several times to report it and no one was there each time we went so we had to use our shower towels to catch the water. We also had to go out and ask for toilet paper as it was not restocked during daily cleaning - and again, there was no one at the desk to ask. It is a lovely hotel with a lot of potential, but disappointing service.

The best family hotel we have been to with our twins. From day one we were entertained by more than 20 iguanas in multiple fantastic colours and patterns enjoying papaya for lunch, just right next to the pools. The staff was always great , ranging from serving great breakfast every day to fixing my PC cable. The owner even drove me to the doctor when needed. The family focus of the hotel combined with the quiet location in Jaco and right distance to the beach, made it the perfect holiday spot for all four for four weeks. The twins even learn to swim independently. We then used it at a base and visited national parks with a professional driver, because trafic is the only really dangerours thing in Costa Rica. When we go back to Costa Rica, we’re staying at Mar del Luz.

Stayed here a couple years ago, decided to stay again because the staff was awesome. This trip we noticed everything cleaner, new paint, new cooktops, plus pool updated and new jacuzzi. Rooms clean, staff excellent, free breakfast excellent, location centered in town, but off the noisy Main Street, a safe place, and the owner, Victor, friendly and helpful to everyone. A great local hotel.
