#27 of 45 hotels in Jaco
We are a small, family-owned hotel with 24 rooms, seeking to attend each guest individually. We are proud to have a lot of happy, frequently returning guests. We have a privileged location with direct access to the beach. We represent an excellent alternative for those who are looking for relaxation and tranquillity away from big tourist centres. We are located at the quiet northern end of Jaco beach. Nevertheless alternative entertainment is only few minutes away: CROC`S Casino Resort is located across the street, and the centre of Jaco is only a 15 minute stroll away, offering all kinds of amenities.

Beautiful property, but we had big ants with wings pouring out of the roof. One bit us. Our photographs show the German manager photographing the bugs. He says the problem is air conditioning which he has not used in years. He says the rooms have no internet, but internet is bad everywhere. He and the German woman in the home office lied to Orbitz and told us we were lying. We stayed zero nights, but they only offered another room or two-night refund. Our credit card is disputing the charge.

We picked this hotel based on its low price and its location far away from The noise of restaurants and bars. There was a house next door where teenagers partied all night and they also partied at our hotel pool. There is no hotel staff or security at the hotel at night so we locked our doors and tried to sleep but really couldn’t. The interior decor was very outdated, definetly a smell like some others described and the beds were hard. It was the worst and only bad experience we had at a hotel in Costa Rica. Many places in Jaco didn’t have credit cards or debit that worked, the beaches were very big pebbles and unless you surfed no way you were going in.

Picked this place based on online reviews and this place is not even a one star anywhere in the world (we’ve traveled a lot around the world). Let’s just say we’re very disappointed. Rooms are reminiscent of a 1970’s place that hasn’t been renovated. Also, can’t really explain the smell in the rooms. The bathroom doesn’t have dryers or shampoo nor conditioner. Linens and towels are limited. Bottom line..... Reviews must have been done by friends and relatives of the owners.

Hotel Pochote Grande is great for people looking for silence and an relaxed stay. Specifically during raining season (we have been there in August) the hotel is quite empty and therefore calm and a great place to stay. The Hotel Manager is very helpful, the food in the restaurant delicious, the pool wonderful and the rooms very clean and comfortable. Small things to improve - Refrigerator in the room as well as safe have to be paid separately (3 Dollar each per day), which is not adequate in my mind - during vacation season it might be annoying that all rooms are facing the pool, where it will be quite noisy - Water boiler and cups at the rooms would be nice - Smoking (as all over Costa Rica) is not allowed in the whole hotel, even on the balcony it is forbidden. A cosy smokers area would please all smokers very much.
