Hostal del Mar, also known in the region as El Castillo (The Castle) due to its unique architecture, is a beautiful building situated just on the sea offering accommodation in various types of rooms (2, 3 or 4 beds) with continental breakfast included, daily served on the terrace with an amazing sea view. Here you will be able to find the tranquility and the quietness with its endless orange sunsets on the balcony, in the terrace or the tropical garden with hammocks. Besides, the town of Golfito is a unique place where the mounty jungle and the sea perfectly find each other across the long gulf, in one of the most biologically diverse regions of the world. Hostal del Mar is the perfect base to start your trip to Corcovado National Park, the jewel of nature of Costa Rica and to Piedras Blancas National Park, Golfito National Wildlife Refuge, the Golfo Dulce and Pavones and Zancudo, some of the most beautiful and wild beaches of Costa Rica. As a tourist you may appreciate the location of the hostal, surrounded by local houses, so you will be able to experience an authentic Tico (Costa Rican) atmosphere and become part of the community. Our friendly staff is looking forward to your visit and ready to fulfill all your needs.

This was one of my highlights from Costa Rica! I travelled there with a school group and welcome was amazing. The owner was incredibly helpful and kind, she helped us organise where to get washing done and even made us a delicious banana bread on our third stay. We used it as a base over two weeks and stayed there a total of three nights whilst we trekked around Golfito and did community work in Dos Brazos. I can't wait to go back in the future. It was truly the most homely place with amazing views I stayed in during my month in Costa Rica.

This is a piece of paradise in the fishing community of Golfito. They are friendly and helpful and helped me discover more about this area that I never would have found on my own. You are going to love this place as I did.

This was our first time staying at a hostal. We are seniors and weren't sure if a hostal was for us, but it worked perfectly! Hostal Del Mar is very clean and comfortable, and the setting can't be beat - beautiful views over the water!

Very stylish hostel, comfy mattresses, great location, you can kayak to Pelican island, swim in the golf, and spend romantic nights watching the bay and the stars from the terrasses. Great wifi, supermarket and town are closeby, staff is very friendly and make you feel at home.

This hostel is a hidden gem. We liked it so much that we stayed six nights instead of one and changed our travel plans. The hostel has such a nice atmosphere with a lovely veranda where we had breakfast in the morning and enjoyed the sunset in the evening. Everyone was really helpful and so nice. The hostel rather felt like a big house or a home. It is such a lovely and calm place. The architecture of the house is supposed to look like a ship and there are a lot of nice spots to relax. You can jump from the boat deck and take a swim. You can rent a kajak and go the beach -or take a watertaxi. Or you take a short bike ride into town. Because Golfito itself is definitely worth a visit if you want to see an authentic Costa Rican fishing town. They offer the bikes for free. So this place has everything you need. I highly highly recommend it. It‘s such a happy place!
