Had the best time while staying at the Zancudo Lodge. Was everything we expected and more. The fishing, amenities, staff & food were all top notch! Went for 3 total days fishing with Capt. Javier & he was the best. He made sure we had the best possible experience & of course put us on the fish. Would highly recommend requesting him. The Owners & all staff were extremely nice & catering. We will definitely be back!!

A first class resort / fishing lodge. Beautiful location, delightful grounds and superb staff. You feel pampered from the moment you arrive. And the fishing is superb with very knowledgeable captains and excellent equipment. The owners live on site and manage the very slick operation with a light touch. Oh and the food was delicious.

Fantastic property. Rooms were excellent, closer to a 5 Star hotel than a fishing lodge. Food and staff AND FISHING were great. Cannot say enough about the quality of experience Greg and his staff have put together here. We will be back.

As part of my son’s college graduation gift, I treated US to this vacation. Kid has always loved fishing (like his dad), and living in Minnesota, escaping for spring break is a MUST. Making the reservation was very easy, including all the details once landing in San Jose (they handled all the details seamlessly). Don’t overlook the value of that when you’re very far from home, it was concierge service! But now for the really goos stuff. We were welcomed like family. The owners (Greg and Goldine) were unbelievably gracious hosts, making sure evert need was attended to, and checking in regularly that we were having fun and happy. I would add similar comments forALL the house staff. The fishing was extraordinary, in part because of the richness of the sea here, in part because the collective knowledge and skills of the team of captains. A team effort to ensure that every boat has the best chance of success. We landed good sized marlins, yellow fin tunas, rooster fish and mahi-mahi, some of which we served to us within hour of catching. Nothing like eating tuna sashimi you caught that morning! The lodge is another gem. beautiful, well maintained high end finishes. The pictures tell the story. What the pictures do not do justice to … is the FOOD.dinners were extraordinary. The unseen cooks are the secret weapon! After a long successful day fishing, a delicious, 4-5 star dinner was the final touch to the day. Bottom line, just spend the money - you will not regret it.

This was our 7th trip to Zancudo Lodge over the past 9 years. We only missed the 2 other years due to Covid and shoulder surgery. This is an expertly run operation in every regard, from the well equipped boats and expert captains to the beautiful hotel accommodations and fabulous food & drink. Every year there is something new, some project, that has kicked things up another notch. This year it was an outdoor kitchen and wood fired pizza oven. The staff is amazing, and most have been there since before we started coming. So looking forward to next year's trip

Just returned from our seventh visit to Zancudo Lodge, especially welcome after missing out on 2021 due to COVID-19. I can only repeat what I wrote in the previous six reviews: we rarely if ever return to the same hotel, resort or even town since there are so many places in the world to visit, but our winters would not be complete without a trip to one of our favorite places on earth. If you enjoy beautiful scenery, elegant accommodations and superb cuisine in a relaxing, exotic setting, while being treated like a beloved family member, look no further. Oh yes, and the fishing! The captains are skilled, enthusiastic, kind and accommodating, encouraging as much or as little participation as you would like. Also, English is spoken expertly which is a real gift for me since my Spanish is poor and I love taking about the ins and outs of tactics, tackle and technique. We ran the checklist catching marlin, sailfish, monster dorado, jacks, a nice cubera snapper, rooster fish and as many tuna as we wanted, our biggest yellowfin hitting the dock at just under 100 pounds. And, of course, despite the remote location, Goldine has a simple, easy system in place for the COVID test needed to return to the US, taking that weight off her clients' shoulders. Please, if you have any questions about this magical place, do not hesitate to message me. Goldine and Gregg along their wonderful staff (Chalberth, Ryan, Anderson, and Ariel along with Chef Marina) have created a little bit of heaven on earth and I cannot recommend it more highly.

Save the fishing for last. The facilities, staff, food, and atmosphere all exceed anything you can try and glean from pictures and comments. The Zancudo Lodge continues to refine the art of providing a true vacation experience. On top of that, the fishing boats, electronics, guides and shore staff are nothing short of mind-blowing. Fishing is not necessarily catching, but the effort that they expend to insure you are hooked up is a joy to experience. I can not say enough of about how they attend to every detail, through excellent communication, opportunity for feedback, and the little things done that show they listen to each and every word. As an example, in Costa Rica, smoking is confined to designated areas. The original smoking area when we first started going to Zancudo seven years ago was a nice remote covered patio area with 4 chairs, a table, and a corrugated roof gazebo. Very functional and adequate for what we needed. Alot of places would have been content to leave it this way. But the staff noticed we were tending to spend a lot of time smoking cigars, having cocktails, and reliving the days events. This was noticed and then acted upon, and each year we return, the area has been upgraded and expanded to meet the needs of our group. This year, I was completely blown away by the smoking lounge area with its beautiful landscaping, comfortable sectionals, lighting, permanent umbrella, coffee table. See the pictures below to understand the level of commitment that Zancudo has to its customers.

This was our first trip back since the pandemic started, and it is still the most amazing fishing resort in the world. The service, food, staff, boats, accommodations...everything is world class. Impeccably clean. We caught marlin, sailfish, mahi, roosters, all kinds of snapper, amber jack, pompano...oh my gosh the list never ends. Gregg, Goldine, Chalbert, Ryan, Anderson, Ariel...they treat us like family. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

Bottom line: This is our favorite place in the world! We have visited a number of times, and if it's even possible, seems to get better every time. Everyone is made to feel at home/special. The rooms are beautiful, the dining 5-star, and the fishing fantastic. What's not to love? This is definitely a bucket list type of place! Already planning next year's visit.
