I want to thank Gregg and Goldine for providing an exceptional experience. My brother and I recently stayed at Zancudo Lodge and fished three days. We fished hard and loved every minute of it. We fished on a new Contender rigged with quality tackle, our guide was a seasoned veteran who kept us busy on the rods catching jack's, snapper, tuna, sailfish and some jumbo roosterfish. The facilities are impressive. A lot of effort went into insuring our stay was all it could be. The staff was excellent, friendly and very attentive. The food was great. The suite was well appointed and very comfortable and the grounds were beautiful. This is a destination I will visit again!!!

My wife and I have been on several fishing trips throughout the U.S., Canada and The Bahamas. When looking for a Sailfish trip we considered a few destinations before we settled on Zancudo Lodge. Our decision was based equally on the accommodations and fishing reports, as when fishing with wife I want her to enjoy the non fishing time as much as I enjoy the fishing. From the moment we arrived in San Jose everything was exactly as described. Transfers were simple and seamless. The one hour flight to Golfito was a sightseeing tour in itself. Once at the marina in Golfito we were met by our Captain, Javier, in his brand new 32’ Contender. After a short scenic boat boat ride, we were greeted at the dock by the owners Gregg and Goldine. From that moment on, every expectation we had was either met or exceeded. Once introduced to the staff, we were shown to our suite and then to breakfast. From that first breakfast through our last dinner and all of the lunches and appetizers in between, the food was outstanding. The entire staff could not have been more accommodating. The accommodations were were 5 star and the cleaning staff took care of every last detail, including whatever laundry we need cleaned, dried and folded daily. Now for the fishing; Amazing!! The small boat, light tackle, no mate concept, makes for a great hands on fishing experience. Javier guided us with his great English and patience, allowIng us to do as much as we wanted, including setting baits and hooking and releasing fish. I would highly recommend the upgrade to a Contender, they are true fishing machines! After each day of catching dorado, tuna, rooster fish, jacks and best of all, big sailfish, we would return to the dock and be met by Gregg and dock attendant with a cold face towel along with Chalbert and his invitation to appetizers and cocktails at the bar. After trading fish stories with other guests, there was time for a quick shower and then dinner was served. The flexibility of the open air dinning room is another gem, decorated with great fish art and incredible mounts. Unlike most lodges we have visited, you have the choice of dinning alone with you significant other or meeting and dinning other wonderful, like minded guests from around the world. We met some wonderful people from the West Coast to Iceland! If you are looking for more than great fishing, especially if you are traveling with your wife, girlfriend or family, it would hard to a finer overall, great fishing based vacation! We hope to return in the future. Mark and Lisa

There are lots of great fishing destinations, with beautiful facilities, fine dining, and exciting fishing. Zancudo Lodge is all that, but what sets it above and apart from other lodges is the personal touch of owners Gregg and Goldine. They have created a tropical paradise with an atmosphere that makes us feel more like friends than clients. Like "Cheers" in the jungle. It's why we are already planning our return next year. (As well as the great fishing).

The attention to detail is like no other! The lodge is clean, super friendly staff, food was unbelievably great! Fishing equipment is top-of-the-line, charter captains are professionals and are the best in the area. I highly recommend Zancudo Lodge to anyone looking for a 5-Star resort. David Wallace Ohio

Greg and Goldine are very gracious hosts, in addition to making our visit beyond comfortable they are as concerned with us catching fish as we are ( no need : our guide was excellent ! ). Meals were fantastic, 3 of the best dinners of any restaurant we've enjoyed.
