Ever and Ali, who manage the property at Toucan & Tarpon, could not be nicer, more helpful people. They went out of their way to make our stay a delight. These well-maintained 'cabins' are located on an island across the river from Tortuguero, so it is nice and quiet. Howler and spider monkeys, as well as Aricari, Oropendola and other...

Basic cabins with a strange water rationing system. Evar is very friendly and helpful. Best to cook the eggs yourself, perhaps. The need to get a water taxi and pay per head is an added inconvenience and expense as.once you do the canoe tour, there is nothing else to do on the jungle.side of tortuguero.

Location in the middle of the forest on the island, but still next to the river dock for boat to Tortuguero town. Hot water and electricity in the room now is available. Ever (owner) gone far and beyond to make us feel comfortable. He peronally led for us several tours to nearby surroundings showing us secret places with wildlife. Also...

Ever is a really pleasant host. He helped us booking tours with experienced guides and made the overall experience a good one. The cabbins are basic but very clean and cozy. The homemade breakfast was excellent. We higly recommend staying at T&T

Toucan and Tarpon is very rustic, think dorm room with no hot water. However Ever and his wife are lovely and very accommodating. We went to sleep and woke up to the sounds of the jungle, birds, monkeys, frogs and even a cow from a neighboring farm which ventured over one night . A troop of spider monkeys and a...

My family of four stayed here for 3 nights in July and we loved it. There are many animals in the grounds alone and we enjoyed the night hike with Ever. The success of the place is mainly down to Ever who is happy to sort out trips, restaurant bookings and ferry you across to the town of Tortuguero. Our...

We have had a very nice stay at Toucan and Tarpon. The man who was in charge over there, Even, was very nice and he and his wife made an excellent breakfast. The whole stay was a back to nature experience with all the sounds of the jungle . We have done a trip with a guide at the opposite...

We stayed here for 4 nights in June 2016. The staff are so welcoming and helpful with all aspects of our visit, organising tours and pointing out all of the wildlife around the cabins. The lodge is basic, consisting of 3 small cabins and one large cabin plus a kitchen (which guests can use to self cater) and a hammocked...

We spent two nights at Toucan & Tarpon and had a great time! Our children, 6 and 9, were a bit hesitant as it really is a jungle lodge (no AC and bunk beds)! I knew that going in and thought it would be a nice change of scenery for our city kids!! They ended up loving it! We could...

My family spent two nights at Toucan Tarpon and loved it. They have three rustic Eco cabins across the river from mainland Tortuguero. We saw sloths and monkeys on the property. We loved falling asleep to the loud sounds of wildlife. Ever, the property manager, was friendly and booked all our excursions for us. Castor is the guy to canoe...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We offer nightly and long-term stays and also fishing packages (we owned & operated a fishing lodge in Canada's remote north for 18 years), and can arrange travel to Tortuguero from San Jose, as well as jungle and turtle tours with local guides. We are two minutes from the village centre yet completely removed from the hustle of village life. We offer a true jungle experience. We have a small yoga studio (the only one in Tortuguero), and a canoe to borrow (and which we use, with motor, for fully-guided river tours/fishing on a budget). ... more   less
