Casa Marbella B&B is right on the main canal which provides easy access to view wildlife both inside and outside the National Park. You can use their canoe for free. Their breakfasts are quite good and they vary them during the week. The owner Daryl Loth is very engaging with his guests and is very knowledgeable being a guide himself.... More

We booked this place for two nights to explore the park and the local area. They do offer tours, but we chose somebody else we met on the bus from Cairari (they were cheaper, and gave us some info on how to do a frog tour on our own). Pre trip communication was excellent, and the place is cash only.... More

Great location along the canal with a very nice, invested owner who is looking out for the development of this small area of Costa Rica. While the town itself isn't too large, the owner has many contacts that offer 2-3 hour tours of the rivers and canal areas and can put you in contact with many other tours in the... More

I arrived to town early in the morning by plane and the hotel boat was waiting for me at the airport. Great! Took me to the hotel dock and as soon as I arrived they welcomed me with a breakfast. Awesome! My room was #8 in the second floor. It was very clean as long as the bathroom with towels... More

We walked in and said WOW. We had the upstairs Superior Room looking right over the river/canal. The room was clean with a large bathroom. Each morning we were awakened by the dawn singing of the local birds (very early). The staff were all friendly and helpful particularly Gina. Coffee is provided from 5:00 am and a nice breakfast included.... More

We have been staying at 30-50$ hotels on our way through Costa Rica. After 14 days of travelling this is the best place we have stayed so far. The morning boat tour with Roberto is also worth it. We got some really nice bird pictures.

I can only echo earlier reviews. Superb location, comfortable room with floor standing oscillating fan, the best shower we had in costa rica, relaxation on the deck watching the splendid sunsets. And Daryl emailed lots of useful information in advance including detailed instructions on how to access Tortuguero with timetables for the buses and connecting public boat; that there are... More

The rooms are modestly sized and appointed, but clean and comfortable. Casa Marbella features a great location in the center of the village -- a 3-minute walk from the boat landing -- and a wonderful, spacious riverside deck, where you are served breakfast and can watch the river traffic and the sunset. Restaurants, a grocery, the beach, and the national... More

Casa Marbella has it all - beautiful location, comfy rooms, excellent customer service, knowledgeable tour guides, and even a lovely free breakfast! Roberto, the wildlife guide, gave us a brilliant boat tour. The staff at reception were friendly had had plenty of good ideas on what to do in Tortuguero. The highlight of the visit was watching the sun set... More

Really helpful staff at this quaint hotel on the river. Stay here for the best tour in town. The silent electric motor and knowledgeable guide allowed us to see all the wildlife we came to see. Even if it rains (which it will!) the tour gives you a study poncho making the your enjoyable in any weather. Tasty breakfast and... More
