Two nights were just too short, as we found the lodge a lovely little place to stay and unwind. The food was surprisingly good and the restaurant staff, Alex and Jamon, took good care of us. Our cottage had a lovely view over the canal and was surrounded by an abundance of vegetation. Luis was an informative guide and it was such fun to be on the lookout for wildlife from the river craft with its powerful motor. Strange though that the Manager seemed so disinterested in his guests.
Small hotel with lovely well equipped rooms. Beautiful gardens with lots of flowering shrubs right on the water. Saw loads of different species of birds also sloths and monkeys on the hotel site itself. Excellent guides run boat and walking tours from the hotel . Food is good but not for gourmands.
Stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed it although there was torrential rain most of the time. The rain didn't stop the boat tours from the hotel, saw plenty of wildlife and the guide Luis was excellent. Also saw a sloth in hotel grounds which was pointed out by staff. Rooms clean and spacious, all staff very friendly. Air conditioning was a bonus. While food was very good we would have preferred a lighter choice at lunch, eg sandwiches, instead of full meal. Strangely there were plenty of vegetarian choices at lunch but at dinner just pasta & pizza which was disappointing
This is a smaller hotel than many on this river with only 12 rooms and therefore the service has a more personal approach. The staff are very welcoming. The rooms are nice with 2 very comfortable beds and a good shower. There is free WiFi, coffee making facilities and drinking water at many points around the grounds. The food is included and is of a very good standard, however not for those on a diet. We carried out three trips with Luis, our guide, who was excellent and enabled us to see much of the wildlife. The hotel boats have both an outboard and an electric motor which enables you to go down certain canals that other hotels are unable to. The whole experience was excellent and I would thoroughly recommend staying here.
Our family of five (including three teenagers) just finished a three day, two night stay at Manatus. This is a quaint lodge of just 12 rooms. All five of us in our family were so bummed to be leaving. We had a fantastic time! The tours were magnificent, Jose and Luis found us some truly amazing wildlife to see including sloths, monkeys, toucans, river otters, crocodiles, caimans, snakes, and many many birds. Just wow! The resort itself is clean, well managed, and picture perfect. Sergio, the manager, was so welcoming. And every staff member felt like a part of our family before we left...Luis, Haizel, Alex, Jose, Elise and Jaron. Food and service were outstanding. And the village of Tortugeuro is a fun place to souvineer shops and drink fresh coconuts. The boat ride to get to Manatus and back was half the fun. Fresh air, amazing wildlife, and gorgeous scenery. If you are looking for an unforgettable, off the beaten path, and comfortable stay, choose Manatus. You won’t regret it. …
